+1 with wwaswas. Learn to climb.Really climb. Better than all your mates. That way they will never see you mincing about on the downhills.

Refuse to ride with anyone who weighs less than 75kg

Has got me by over the years.

Always have done. Why not? Worrying about whether to shave or not is for very insecure mincers! xx

To answer your question. RM will surcharge it, probably by about a £1 + the cost of a stamp. They will then put a card through the door of the recipient asking for the money. If they don't pay it will be returned to you (if your address is on the outside of the envelope or it will go to belfast to be binned off.

    Hope this helps.

Oh, if you shop with Tesco (we do) you can exchange their vouchers to use at Goldsmiths. For every pound clubcard voucher you exchange you get 4 back so my Seamaster cost me (my wife) under £300 in vouchers.

I was worried that I should go for the midi size (fairly thin wrists)…………. but having tried them both on the full size one was definitely the best option for me.

I can't really help on how the crystal will wear, I've worn mine for everything since I got it and have had no problems but the I'd not expect to have had in 3 weeks.

The only tip I can pass on is that the guy who sold served me said that I shouldn't wear it for showering as soap/shampoo residue can build up around the seals which will lead them to harden and then crack.

Are you going for the blue or the black?

Like you, I wanted one for ages. I was lucky enough to have a wife who knew this and bought me one in Feb for my birthday!

First thoughts? I love it. I wear it all the while, and find myself gazing at it like a love struck Robbie Williams fan.

The quartz one does not need servicing but will require a new battery every two years (£120 every three years (approx) inc pressure test).

If you have any specific questions please mail me, if I can help I will?

@Boris do you plot routes then load them on to your garmin? If so which sites do you use?

Just read your thread Samuri, thanks. Can certainly understand your anger/disappointment.

I've just bought one, waiting for it to arrive. if I'm lucky enough to get a good one that works are they easy to use? I've had the site bikehike recommended for plotting routes to download to the unit. Is that the one most people use or are there others?

What if the trader isnt a registered Ltd company?

The business status of the trader has nothing to do with VAT. VAT is payable by any trader/business that turns over more than £67,000 p.a. It would be a pretty poor used car dealer who didn't go over that threshold!

Of course some people/traders/business's operate outside the tax law.

Here endeth my lesson in VAT law, it's way too early on a Sunday morning.

Nice looking bike but if I were you I would swap to a slightly narrower BB. Then you could move the chain ring to the outside of the crank spider where it would look much better!!

    I'm a bit of a sad perfectionist!

    Garage dweller you are wrong.

VAT is payable, by the dealer, on the difference between purchase price and sale price.

ie If he/she buys a car for £4000 and then sells for £5000 VAT is payable on the £1000.

Jase, I certainly am of a certain age. I've always admired the Seamaster but when the kids were younger and the mortgage much bigger there was no chance but now that there is a little more money floating around Bianchi Towers we have decided to buy one or two treats for each other. You can't take it with you.

Daffy, I have a son that I would love to be able to gift it to one day.

I'd be amazed if you have any problems. I fitted them to a very tight clearance frame with 23mm tyres and there is quite a bit of space for bigger tyres.

I'm sensing a lot of jealousy TJ, a lot of jealousy.

In your "sweeping generalisations" approach to life where does "a rather dull series of BMWs" pitch you?

Boardin Bob, I love all her routines but my favourite has to be the one she does with the spatula, the coal skuttle and the goat. I'm genuinely amazed that the goat will stand still that long! ;0)

I was out on Sat with my camera, taking street photography. I wandered into our local shopping extravaganza (known locally as Chapelfied). Only been there a few minutes when two cleaners housekeepers asked me if I had permission to be carrying such a "powerful" camera around with me.

Politely said that I hadn't and walked off, two mins later two security guards came chasing after, demanding to know what I was doing. Told them I was out taking pictures (surprise, surprise) and was asked to leave. When I asked why they were so worried about me and my "powerful" camera (Canon 450 dslr and Sima 10/22 lense!) they said that they were worried that I might be "supplying pics to a terrorist organisation". They then said I would be ok if I was using a compact! I kid you not! So I put my Canon away and started snapping them with my TZ7.

So I guess the lesson is if you are planning on bumping your earnings by doing a bit of spy work in your local shopping mall for which ever terrorist group floats your boat leave the DSLR at home!

Thank you housekeepers and security guards I think we can all sleep easier in our beds

DS, I do like the Constellation but was looking for something a little less "dress watch" for wearing on the bike and off.

TS, I have a budget for bike bits, this money is just set aside for a watch.
