I have both set ups and really cannot notice the difference at all. Wouldn’t bother with the hassle changing it. As above – save for spares.

you can just knock out the bearings and get some replacement ones from a bearing shop. Works out cheaper. If there is nothing wrong with the plastic cups its a good solution. I did that with my Capra. The drive side bearing was knackered. Non drive was ok. I just got an enduro bearing – so far so good.

2 tubes plus the stick on patches just in case. Glue ones take too long to dry. Used to only be one but learnt the hard way on that!!

What about removing the bearing – was looking at the expanding bolt way but not sure what sized anchor bolt to order. I.D is 15mm on the bearing – I’m guessing a 14mm bolt or maybe 13? Anyone done this way before, if so, what did you use?

    Thanks

i noticed the 19mm blots were connected to each other. If one spun so did the other…I have one end out but the other is still threaded in the spacer but the spacer is to wide come out of bearing…no idea how to get that out!

Sods law – I was going to try to and get in next year as birthday present to myself…..before I don’t have the time or spare cash to do it!

Might try BC Enduro – might be to late for that though…dam it!

going to give it a crack again this year – this time with mates….if we all get in. Was debating on doing a BPW wales instead, I think BPW might be more bang for your pounds. Two different styles however. I do like the atmosphere at Ardrock though. Just make the most of the free stuff! :D

Like many people, my E13 parts came with a YT bike. However, I have an issue with one of the parts and I’m trying to figure out how best to deal with it.

My wheels came on my YT. I contacted them and they told me to just speak to E13 direct. E13 were fine to deal with. A bit slow but got there in the end.

no no no no no no no……endless problems with my rear wheel. As mentioned above. Pawl springs all broke leaving me with intermittent pedalling. E13 sent out a new batch of springs – since then (about a year ago) springs have been fine. Spokes kept braking – pretty much one per ride. Sent it back to Germany for them to fix – which they did. One summer of riding and now spokes are starting to break again! If you swapped them out for stronger spokes maybe they would be ok. Bearings seem to wear fast. If I was you I would go for something else. For the price there are much better sets around. Front has been fine though. Good luck. the new ones might have addressed the issues above however. Mine are late 2015.

Out the bottom of the seat tube, down the side of the shock and into the cable/hose hole on the down tube.

Cheers – figured that out eventually. Was a bit stumped at the hole in the seat tube – must be for really short posts! Internal routing was a ballache of a job! Got there in the end

I’ll be able to sleep well tonight. Adding sealant did the job…panic over.

If you mean where the rim is bent into a circle, and joined, then no, not normal.

Yes- this. So where the rim it self is joined together. I looked at the tape again and noticed it doesn’t go all the way up the inside rim wall. Is it supposed to go all the way up? I thought it just covered the “flat” section, ie not the vertical part. Either way, in theory the tyre should press hard enough against the rim to stop air coming out anyway.

Didn’t hear any pings at all, which I always get on my other rims even with the airshot which was odd.

Might add some more tape on the offending section add sealant, pump and pray!

yeah – all taped up etc etc. Sounds like sealant might fix it. Will give it a crack.

Forks are still pricey….New ones anyway. Was thinking of getting a new set for my 07 stumpy “winter bike” but was amazed at the price tag. Just bought a near new second had meta 3 instead, much better value for money!

Would the money being ringfenced for a particular purpose change your views? Eg. If you knew that the money was being pumped into conservation and access work? Let’s say, and this is just a suggestion, that the introduction of charging at walking bottom resulted in them employing a full time MTB ranger who spent their time building and repairing the trails?

If this was the case then I would have no issue paying for parking. Wait and see what happens I guess.

if pay parking does move over the Peaslake and the like, all its going to do is cause people to park on the road and clog it up. How else are you supposed to get there if you are not a local. Peaslake in particular has benefited hugely from MTB’ers. I hate the pay parking mentally in the UK. You can be in the middle of now where and there is bloody parking machine!

norbar – bought one a month ago. Fine tool it is! Didnt have enough trust in a cheap Chinese one. Carbon frames are not cheap to repair!

I have the exact some problem with my front RS. The back one self adjusts but the front one refuses to and I have the keep winding out the reach adjuster. No idea why it does this, its so annoying! Even doing a pad reset doesn’t solve the problem. Will be watching this to see what others suggest.

my bliss ones go in the machine. They have some kind of foam in them and it takes about 3 days to dry!

is the bike worth more than a couple of bus or tube fares? I wouldn’t but if you have a decent D-lock at least the frame will still be there!

from a 2015 CF capra – pitch thread looks to be 1mm from my best measurement. Here is a pic of my axle. Total length from the end of the spacer is 161mm, thread length is 15mm

I have been through the bike inside battle previously. Some landlords just have no idea about the “value” of bikes and assume that leaving it outside, even out the front, is perfectly fine as long as its locked. In the end I gave up and lowered it on and off the balcony, which was a real pain in the ar*e! Since moved on from that one and now my landlord is fine with bikes – she can tell that there is no damage from my “nice one” being inside, which is all that counts. I would try some kind of bag to store it or point out to her that there is no damage anywhere and if you cause any you will fix it. Good luck, I feel your pain!

    Any also

Move out and buy a house, terraced houses are reasonably cheap, under 100k in most cities.

Not in london….cant even buy a shoe box for that :-(

had the same issue with mine spewing fluid everywhere. Just put the screw in ASAP and it will be fine. Mine are ok. It does seem like all the fluid spills out though, but there must be something left in there!

I would second the Rockguardz. Have one on my capra. Feel a lot more confident having it on than without it. Looks the business as well. Minimal outlay for a potential expensive rock strike.

How are you assessing there’s lateral movement, grabbing the shock on moving it?

Tightening up the seatstay mounts and leaving the shock out of the frame mount. Moving the shock side to side. The axle moves (enough to say it has play) in the mounting gap. The bolts are tight, maybe not 12nm however. Maybe i’ll nip down to the bike shop and get it tightened to 12nm exactly to see if that sorts it out.

The axle isnt really a snug fit. Once its in, it has a fair amount of wiggle room. Prob 1mm. My other bikes have had next to no wiggle room at all. How much does a carbon frame bend to accommodate the slack?

hmmmm, sounds like I’m not the only one with this issue then. How could they have not picked this up when it was put together in the factory. Its pretty obvs that the spacers are wrong. I have emailed YT to ask about it. I might just buy a new mounting kit and hopefully the spacers that I get will be correct.

    Here are some pics.

In the first one there is lateral movement of the pin (not in the bushing) when the bolts are tight. The other end of the shock is not fixed in. Is it normal for there to be some lateral play? It is as tight as I dare do before my torque wrench turns up (carbon frame)

In the second pic you can see the mounting set up with the spacers, pin etc.

It seems to me that the pin is to short by a mm or so as there is a bit of sideways play before the bolts are tightened.

    Seems odd to me!

Now I think about it it must be the bushing as there is no way the axle could move once tightened in the frame. Unless the 34mm gap between the mounting points has “grown”. Need to check again tonight to see what is actually moving! Its driving me mad.

No obvs signs of wear at all, so its a bit odd. Might just change the bushing and see if it fixes it.

    Cheers

After finding an exploded drawing on the web I can see its pretty (very) simple. The short bolt screws into the other one, so as mentioned above it just a case of pushing it through. Was worth asking though…

dont “really” need the spanners or the socket set but for that price I just cannot resist!! Picked up a 3/8 set a few months back for the same silly price!

should clarify – it was only a 30s gap if the line behind me was small, ie 3 or 4 riders. Which was about 3 of the stages. I’m pretty sure I saw something mentioning 20s gaps in the info…..unless I’m dreaming

    bgascoyne

Didn’t find anything tricky on the stages, despite riding them with no practice. Though we had a mooch around stage 1 on the Saturday and there were lots walking sections – riders that shouldn’t have been in the main race imo

I agree – all the Sat riders should be able to ride the entire course (or at least give it a good crack  )Sunday is another story – more relaxed and a chance for people to experience it. Guess you have to learn to push yourself somehow.

I caught a few people on Sat but they all pulled off so no issues there. I always left a big 20 – 30s gap at the start despite the marshals trying to hurry me along as I hate catching and trying to pass.

due to the nature of the event I don’t think they can really televise it in the way they can the downhill and xc

Speaking of coverage – what are peoples thoughts on the coverage this year. I think I much preferred the format and presenter last year, plus the highlights were 10mins longer. The previous rounds coverage was good but the recent one from Aspen I found quite boring and not a lot of riding in it. Maybe its just me?
