If its the older version (not the new one with the round compression knob) it could just be caused by a build up of crud under the knob. Take low speed compression knob off and that will expose the 6mm (I think 6) nut holding on the HS compression knob. Take that off and give it a clean and see what happens. Doing that sorted mine out…it actually started to click!

Prob better to do a lower leg service first to see if that sorts out the small bump issue. Although while you have the compression knobs off you are half way there towards a bleed so no harm in doing it.

The lyrik and pike bladder are different lengths. I thought I might be able to do the same but after investigation I found they were slightly different. Lyrik is the longer one. Not sure what the actual measurement diff is however.

I was hunting for a lyrik B1 bladder and you can only get them in full rebuild kits, which are 50 pounds or so. The only place I found just the bladder was in New Zealand!

I would say it’s days are numbered. A mate did the same last year and then tried to run the tyre tubed and it was the worst day ever. I think we had to stop and fix either a tyre off the rim or puncture about 8 times before everything gave up it was time to walk.

You will have no issues on a Friday. Wouldn’t worry about it.

Interestingly, I just checked my carbon Capra after reading this thread. I too have a crack by the mount. It’s only a small one however, not as bad as the one in the pic. I have no issues with my cranks being loose.

Are you sure it’s just not the bearings that are knackered? I can’t see how that crack would cause the cranks to be loose as the bearings sit in the aluminium housing.

I’m equally amazed at the problem in the UK. Being from NZ I can’t fathom how bystanders don’t pipe up when people leave their rubbish behind. It’s engrained in NZ from school to ” keep NZ green” and it really works. It almost seems acceptable here to just leave your crap behind and someone will take care of it. If you carry it there you can carry it back!

This one sounds like it might work for you. Just happened to be browsing pinkbike earlier and noticed this

RS seem to be making life more difficult and expensive each year. I used to think Fox service kits were expensive but the service kits for the likes of a lyrik are £75 for dust wipers and a few o rings. That’s seriously taking the pi*s in my book!

Why they don’t give you the option to by just a new charger 2 unit is pure greed from them. There is no other reason for it, not to mention the waste of an entire damper for the sake of one part.

just whip off the lowers, clean up the air spring seals, re grease , fresh oil and reassemble. Try the zip tie method first though. A lower spring service is very simple and the only special tool you will need will be some circlip pliers. Full instructions are on the Sram/Rockshox web site.

Thanks for the replies. I emailed Sram as well to ask them and their answer was ‘nothing will work as the max cassette range for GX is 36 teeth’. They said move to 11sp! I’m sure the GX will work but they just dont advertise it! I’ll see if I can get a Shim XT on special as it will almost be the same price as GX at full price.

I bought a set of these 6 years ago. Can’t fault them and still super sharp with everyday use and minimal sharping during ownership. Cheap knives feel horrible to use after these.

they could do a “come at your own risk approach”. I would be up for that – personally, I have had it already so I’m keen to get out ASAP. We cant all stay in cotton wool forever. For the avg person under 60 there is probably more chance of dying by being hit by a bus while riding than from Corona but we all still ride on the road….

Good for road riding and for those that can MTB from home. For me its been shite as I need to drive to MTB ride!

that helped me to decide to replace the lenses in my Fuel Cells that were peeling. Went for some Prizm lenses – hope they are worth it vs cheaper replacement lenses on ebay.

I had/have the same issue with mine. I recently saw a thread suggesting to clamp the lever overnight against the bars (or as close as possible), which you have also tried. After I tried this the lever feels amazing! I also did a bleed. However I haven’t had a chance to ride it yet, so not sure if that trick solved the problem or not. I also recently rebuilt the entire brake set. I think for me the seals were not letting the piston advance enough (and stay advanced) as the pads wore down. Might be worth whipping the calipers open and cleaning them up?

**edit – just noticed you have done the caliper already. Might be worth giving the lever end a go?

I have the same problem with my guide RS’s. Stripped them completely and rebuilt and still the same behaviour. No matter what I do the bite point wonders as the pads wear down. Real pain in the bum!

Interesting read! Purely as a discussion point. If you drive 30mins out to ride. Drive alone, don’t stop anywhere, ride alone on easy trails, don’t have to open any gates etc, see only 15 or so people over a few hours at safe distance….how does that help with spreading the virus ( and assuming you have already had it)? In my view my local park where I see over 300 people in 40 mins and where most people are within 2m of each other is far greater re risk of spreading the big C.

I was thinking the same thing. Everyone suddenly has a craving for eggs it seems. I was thrilled to find a lonely pack on the shelf on Sunday. I thought I might be without eggs for several months!

Pretty sure I had it last week. Returned from ski trip, had all the symptoms. Many people from the ski accomodation also sick and 6 confirmed ( including the guys sharing our bathroom) via testing in their country. TBH it wasn’t all that bad, just felt shite for 4 days and slightly ill for two more. Now back to full health.

Would be worth the government highlighting the fact that for the majority of people it will just be a slight inconvenience. I didn’t even need a day off work – I just worked from home.

Sounds like to much grease to me. I had the same issue (although not from changing the shaft) and got sick of inverting the bike and janking on the forks to temporarily fix it. Whipped them open to find about 10 tubs of grease in there and the transfer port clogged up. Cleaned it up and applied the correct amount and it’s been good as gold for 2 years now.

I have the same situation…a really good jacket that’s a little to big now but perfectly fine WRT condition. It seems stupid that its cheaper to effectively throw items away and buy new ones!

My 3C Maxterra HR2 only lasted two weeks in the Alps before 80% of the knobs started to rip off. It was dry and rocky though and there was a lot of descending – probably about 6 – 8 months worth of UK weekend riding!

Three times for me. Loved every year. The only reason for not signing up this year is because I might be leaving the UK. Little bit gutted that I’ll miss out. They are long days but there is no rush. Just work on your fitness if required. 100% recommend it

I’m going skiing next week in France. I’m not worried about it. Insurance companies will try and wiggle out of any ” natural catastrophe”…. Which is kind of the reason for insurance in the first place!

That info from the Finnish guy is interesting. Lines up exactly with what I was experiencing.. although I didn’t have much of a clunk. I haven’t been able to use full travel for a while though which I used to be able to do.

I’m using the RS red adaptor but I noticed that there appears to be a newer version on the TF tuned site. It looks much different. Maybe Sram has fixed the issue? Might be worth a shot if the work around solutions don’t work!

I think it’s got worse to be honest. The search function is just hopeless and returns lots of irrelevant stuff or old events before the newer ones.

It stills streams fine but the way it’s structured is not very good.

But hey…it’s free, so can’t really complain!

I toyed with getting one for a trip last year down to Bourg. In the end I didnt bother and I’m glad I didn’t waste the money. I was looking online and if you live in France/Spain/NL you can get one with reasonable fees – however if you try and purchase that one it wont let you and redirects to a UK site. The UK site adds all kinds of fees…admin, monthly, yearly which are far more than the EU guys pay.

I drove there and back on week days in Aug and the longest I waited in a queue was 2 mins. It took all of 30 seconds to get out of the car and pay at the tolls – it was actually good to get out and stretch the old legs! The gates stay open until you drive through. Even the summer before we drove down and back on the weekend and there were no queues.

@darkpitt74 — no I didn’t. I did remove them both together though. I cant see it having any impact by doing the adaptor first and then pump – prior to pressurising. Maybe I’m wrong?

Its going to ultimately result in higher prices for everyone for the impacted sectors. The govt are crazy if they think having to pay staff more won’t directly translate to higher prices. 52% of idiots voted for it though…

And that’s why I do all my own work on my car. I don’t trust anyone in a garage! Likewise a bike shop.

I would say just go for it. My first tour, with zero experience and training (not even a test run) was from Calais to Salzberg – train to Basel and cycle back to Calais. I did around 100 to 120km a day and the odd 150km day. I did part of the Rhine from Strasbourg to Chur via lake Konstanz although I only went down the Rhine a bit and then turned left towards the lake. I dont recall the bit between Strasbourg and Konstanz being anything special – although it was 8 years ago now. Konstanz to Chur was great with excellent scenery.

I camped the entire trip, although it was in July/Aug. The only issue with hostels is that you might struggle to find one at your desired daily distance.

As others have mentioned – Its easy to bale if you need to, so I wouldn’t worry about biting off more than you can chew. Trains are plentiful and easy to use.

    Have fun :-)

If it’s stuck down it might be a bit more serious than a bleed fix – I’m not sure though.

I stripped and rebuilt mine last year – I made all the tools (oil level indicator etc) myself from bits at home. If you are mechanically minded then you should be ok. Just follow the instructions online.

You might get away with the 50hr service and bleed. You don’t necessarily need a crows foot if you have a good “feel” for it. Mine has been running perfect for near on 7 months since the rebuild. The 50hr kits are normally around £10 I think.

All happened just down the road from me. Fortunately I left for the shops 5 mins later due to feeling the need for a quick tea. I was heading the the shop next to boots. Cycled up to boots from a head on position, saw it was shut and thought it was odd, got closer to see a car on the wrong side of the road. Thought it was a minor traffic incident, continued on thinking it would be ok to turn left and then I saw the shot guy dead on the footpath and then I thought WTF is going on, seconds after that a cop with a very big gun runs towards me and screams get away now….don’t think I have pedaled so fast in a long time! Little to close to home for my comfort. Thank God I was thirsty!

I would size up rather than down. They had me in the middle of M/L for my 2017 Capra. Went for the L and glad I did. M would have been to small I think.

Only issues I have had have been with the E13 wheels. Rear one kept snapping spokes and axle reducer rounded. Dealt directly with E13, who were good. Would avoid E13 wheels if possible!

I got my note 8 Pro from Amazon via a seller in the EU (although I think it came direct from Amazons EU Warehouse – not sure how that worked) and I got a UK charger with it. No problems with the phone at all and way cheaper the Apple and Samsung!

Drive all the batteries down in a car with a couple of bikes etc, fly with the rest as if the bikes as if they were normal bikes?

This is probably the best idea! You could pack all the batteries and a bunch of luggage in the biggest car – people in the group would also then save on the cost of hold baggage on the flights AND you could then take some heavy(er) tools with you in the car

On a side note….is it me or is the coverage on red bull TV much less this year compared to previous years? Only 14 or so mins for the Saturdayday highlights. I’m sure last year it was 30min each day.

Also there are a lot less drivers this year. Really only 4 guys that will win each round. I remember the years when we had subura., Mitsi, Toyota, plus others. Not any more. Probably as it’s crazy expensive now. Real shame – it’s getting a bit boring now I think.
