Never spent a whole day there…I like a change of scenery.
Usually use the 2 main tracks…the one along the top and the one that goes from Carters farm to the pylon by the stream, down to donkey bridge.

I have a Race Face ride crankset. Until I got a new BB, I had to tighten them up until they bottomed out, then tighten tem up some more…then ride the bike for a couple of miles, then tighten them up some …and so on and so forth 😉

I did mine summer 2006….totally smashed to pieces. the clever chaps at carlisle hospital managed to reconstruct with the help of a lot of pins!
My arm was in a back slab for 8 weeks then after another 2 months it was deemed strong enough for physio. After 6 months of physio I was back to nearly full strength in the arm…but My arm was about 30 degreees from full extension. In november 2007 I had another operation (corrective surgery by a consultant called Mr Funk ! excellent name) Then 3 days in a machine that made my arm move up and down to full extension, 3 more months of physio…..I am now 10-15 degrees off full extension (will never be straight!)….but I hardly notice it.

Mr m wright…Im the same with the handling of change thing…cant quite get my palm flat enough to accept change….Oh, And I have to wipe with my left now! (Too much info!!)

    buy a Toyota Hi-Lux!

Yes if you want reliability and cheap running costs…

If not, get the landy. You will regret it and spend a fortune on it, but you will love it more than your family….

Would you pay tax on something that old?
Insurance could vary a lot…depending on age and previous history…

Get it! who cares about the price of petrol? Old Landrovers are great fun. (I had a 3.9 petrol Rangie….now that was expensive to run….but worth every penny!

Ive used ullswater as a base before. Theres 2 campsites down east side of lake v. near to each other – Waterside House and Park foot (more commercial). Just ride out of campsite and head for the fells (Barton fell, High st, Martindale and over to Hartsop and Patterdale) some great riding to be had!

I got a cheap one (£35ish) from halfords. First time I used it, I went round a sharp corner and the whole thing collapsed. Bike was hanging off side of car held on only by wheel straps. Didnt bother taking it back…just bought some Thule 591s….can’t beat ’em…..

I find that if you apply severe pressure to the front brake lever, the momentum of your body through the air (and eventually onto the ground) will usually release you from your clips… 😉

Go with thule every time over car manufacturers own…they usually look good but dont have the substance of thule.
    I second th 591s…excellent bike holder…try skidrive.co.uk….
