Strani is most likely to mean foreigners (from Stranieri)

Go over the border into Italy – Ligurian Riviera. Some beautiful places along the coast – avoid the bigger resorts and travel into the hills. So much better than France (I’m biased, though).
Oh, and theres no french people 😉

Hatter – thanks for the info. Would be using it for everything really. Mostly trails around the local area, the occasional trip to a trail centre and Alps for a weekend each year.
21″ might be the way forward

MTB Rob – thanks for the offer but im in west Yorkshire….

Another hijack on this one…. How are the sizing’s on these frames (Ariel 14X)?
My old trek was an 18.5/19.5v and always felt a bit short for me. Looking at the Ariel 2014 frames they do a 15, 17, 19 & 21″. I’m 6’2″ and a lot of online ‘frames size guides’ say I should be on a 21 ” frame… Anybody got any advice to throw at me. Obviously it would be nice to go and sit on one but as its a 2014 frame I’m looking at, this might be difficult.

Apologies for the hijack.. but Ive been looking at new frames recently to replace my old Trek Fuel EX7 (2009). This looks a cracking frame and the 2014 one is available for around £700 with shock.
Just wondering if all my old stuff from the Trek would go fit nicely on this frame:

I gather I could get my 1/8″ sektors into a tapered headset but cant find the seatpost dia anywhere (would like to re-use reverb if I can)

V-brakes are a more recent upgrade from the old cantis…
    Definitely not a ’98.

Ooh thanks for that. Was just looking on Sheldon brown…
    Hes got a ’91 as 26.2 and a ’94 as 26.8….

    Like this?

Telecoms streetworks site (as mentioned above). Sometimes the LPA likes them painted the same colour as existing street furniture which would account for the blue….

Sorry to be boring, but why do you need to ‘upgrade’? Does your phone still work? You now own it, why not just get a sim only deal and save a bunch of money and the planet a teeny tiny bit of unneeded redundant electronic waste.

Had thought of this but we now tend to pass on our phones to the kids after a couple of years. They’re happy with our cast offs.

Grrrr…. Don’t know what to do now!
I do like the iphone and find it it very user friendly… But I’m put off by the price of a new one. I’ll sleep on it and have another think in the morning… Thanks for all replies…

If you can hold off then do as the Galaxy S6 is released

Looks like they’re losing the memory card slot for the s6… Quite like the idea of the extra memory.

On a slightly different tack… will my forks (1 1/8″ steerer) fit in a tapered head tube?

If it’s just paint and bearings and you like the frame you’ve got just fix it, repaint, and carry on.

If you just *want* a new bike that’s a different matter, new 26er full-bouncers are becoming harder to find.

You might be on to some thing there!

I’ve got 115-150 DPC sektors on the front at the mo… so something that would take those

Save your money – the small holes on the edge of the wheel clog up with dirt and attract more dirt. Bearings are very cheap – mine lasted 3 months.

Either that or, as above shes seeing someone else/doesn’t want you there any more.

I did go through a phase of wondering if I should get some regular forks to bring the trails alive but having seen friends’ bikes blighted with fork issues, I’m not minded to. I’m sure it is enough fork for my needs.

To whom are you referring? 😉

I did mine back in 2006 – smashed to pieces. I was operated on by a very clever man at Carlisle hospital who pinned it all back together with a lot of metal work. I was in a back slab (half a pot) for 8 weeks and started physio a few weeks later. After 6 months of pretty intensive physio (at hospital and by myself at home) I was as back to normal as I was going to get (about 20-25 degrees from full extension). My physio recommended that I have a chat with a specialist in this field (wrists and elbows). His name was Mr Funk! who had a private practice at Manchester sports injury clinic but also worked part time for the NHS. I had a private consultation with him and he said he could get me more movement. I had the operation via the NHS at Wrightington hospital (Near Wigan). He took all the steelwork out that he could, filed a few bits down and generally tidied up my joint. I was put on a machine for about 30 hours which extended my arm fully back and forth (non-stop, even during the small amount of sleep I had that night!). Any way after a lot more physio by his team at wrightington I now have nearly full extension (about 10 degrees off). It aches occasionally after a long ride or heavy lifting but nothing I cant cope with.
To answer your question, I ignored the docs (who said I wouldn’t be able to ride for 6-8 months) and I rode about 3 months after my cast came off – very tentative ride around the block to start with and built it up from there.
I must dig out my old x-rays!!

stand at the end of Banff Ave around dusk and look towards the mountain (you’ll know which one I mean if you go stand there), take a photo.

Looking back down the road at Cascade Mountain?

I think I took that photo last time I was there…Have a better camera now, though 😀

Thanks for all the comments chaps. Food for thought.
