My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie; Dulce et Decorum est
    Pro patria mori.

    Wilfred Owen

    Translation:
My friend, you would not tell with such high zest
To children ardent for some desperate glory,
The old Lie; How sweet and fitting it is to die for ones country.

I second slx. While slightly heavy, they are the best brakes I have ever used, very powerful (NEVER more than one finger braking, even on 160mm rotors) with loads of modulation, and a great lever stroke, not mushy before they bite like formula (if that makes sense). And cos they're Shimano, they are ultra reliable :D

Walk in to the shop with NO PREFERENCES over which brand you want – every foot is unique, and different boots are different boots are different shapes. The best boot is one that is comfortable!

Go to a reputable shop with well trained fitters.

Go during the week, when the shop is quiet and you can have all of the fitters attention.

Remember that your feet are slightly bigger at the end of the day.

IMO they are nice bikes, and ride nicely, but a bit portly and, well, boring. Very little has really happened to the design for a few years now. Obvious counter to this is if it ain't broke, don't fix it, but the design isn't perfect, and when every one else is progressing, you need to too.

    Metallica – S&M

It's so good, their stuff just works really well live, especially with the San Fran Symphony Orchestra in the background. Plus, it includes some really good exclusives. No Leaf Clover is so good! :D

    Before surgery:

    And after :-)

Need to find the x-ray of it when it was broken. The bones on the hand end of my arm were on top of the bones on the elbow end. Hurt a lot, but morphine soon took care of that…

Not for along time IMO. They're cheaper, lighter, offer a better spread and give better weight distribution. Also, I've never really had a problem with bent mech hangers etc. (although it is obviously an issue), and as long as you don't neglect them they last long enough.

I use around 2oz of bonty superjuice in my mudxs on those rims. No punctures thus far, despite finding some HUGE thorns in my tyres :D

It'll start with the chain, but then you'll become obsessed with it until you're many hundreds of pounds out of pocket with a stupid looking bike. But it won't matter, because you'll have saved in excess of 100 grams

To be fair I've never had a mp3 player that came with what I class as good earphones

Some do, but more to the point, you HAVE to use apple headphones with the shuffle because the buttons are on the headphones.

shuffle. simple, brilliant, unbreakable little things

Except that you have to use I-tunes, it has no screen or buttons on the player, so navigation is unbearable, and you have to use the horrific excuse for a pair of headphones that come with it

    And relax…
