5yr old came home from school singing a song about ‘gammon style’

3yr old was going on about wanting a deep bath right up to his ‘nibbles’

5yr old had to sing a song the other week about jesus, something to do with a donkey…he thought it was a bit boring so when he had to sing it a school he changed the words something along the lines of ‘jesus was on his donkey but it only has three legs so was very wonky’ then when asked by the teacher why he had changed it the little bugger told her it was ‘daddy’s idea he said it made the song more interesting’

Thought of the rubber job but I have had bad experiences with them, small hole somewhere water gets in tracks along underneath so you can’t tell where it is getting in. My idea is that I will have the felt roof (I know where the leak is) which will be repaired with a patch or some of the paint on sealer stick the metal over the top an I end up with essentially a waterproof metal roof with a back up of the felt roof

It would be classed as a flat roof but has a decent fall on it, don’t want to get it re felted after this one has failed. Not worried really about insulation it’s unheated single skin. I was considering just fixing a corrogated metal (probably with some coloured finish) over the existing felt roof, fixing straight thought the existing felt into the board/joists. Condensation might be an issue as I have a tumble dryer in the garage (think this has contributed to the felt roof failing) but my hope is leaving the existing roof in place will mean there is a vented gap between the new metal roof and the felt roof.

Things always happen together I had tree fall over in the wind (hung up on another tree over next doors conservatory), back door lock broke and a rain water pipe slip in its brackets so its no longer attached to the gutter. Annoys the heck out of me for a day or so but stuff happens.

Never really had a problem with sleep especially since I had kids can sleep anywhere any time generally. In the past if I ever had trouble I would imagine I had won the lottery and could build my own house anywhere I wanted never got past location, layout, what I would have in the big garage, gym etc before I fell asleep

Nope don’t do fashion, in winter I wear combats (currently cord combats from asda, I have 3 pairs the same) t shirt and a hoody. In summer I replace the combats for combat shorts (I like pockets)

Looking back on my job the time I did not mind it was when I worked with a pretty good team and boss the rest of the time I hated it which I can pin down (in hindsight) to specific people I disliked usually machiavellian types. I gave it all up in the end to look after the kids and I’m much happier. Currently considering a way to earn a bit of money when number 2 son goes to school next sept, need a job that fits in with school times so it looks like I will have to work for myself doing something

We were in a similar situation I ended up giving up work, we are lucky though the misses has a good job. My job was recession prone so we always financially planned with one wage only. Still was a bit tough to start with losing half our income but I’m much happier now, the misses finds the stress of work less now not having to worry about who is picking up the kids etc friends we know who chose the other route with a nanny make it work and they have much more money than we do but are constantly going on about how they feel guilty about someone else raising their kids, not spending enough time as a family, nanny stress etc they are currently worrying about it on a 4 week holiday in oz

Might not be a bad shout that Juan seems to have got worse the last few years as the amount of riding I do has decreased, could be that as my leg muscles have decreased the stability/pain has become worse

Oh think I have an idea of the cause if that will help the forum diagnosis … About 15 years ago i stress fractured my pelvis and had constant pain for about 3 years figured I may have created some imbalance or something

Nealglover they could have fixed their stock update problem when they first knew about it, they could have told me sooner, they could have sourced them from somewhere else and offered them to me at the same price, they could have offered me the alternative at the same price, they could have said sorry about that how about we give you a pair off socks/bag of chocolate buttons they could have done any number of things rather than say oops that problem has arisen again how about we offer you a pair of trainers YOU CAN NOT AFFORD

andyrm – ‘run 4 it’ were at great pains to inform me they are a shop with branches not a big online retailer

neaglover – that’s the point though I cant get what I wanted anymore everwhere else has now sold out of what I wanted at the price I can afford, because they cocked up. There alternative is a bright yellow pair which I guess I could live with (they will be brown and covered in mud most of the time) but £10-20 more than I have to spend

Soobalis – I work at home

Just seen you can get the new version (the ones I dont really want but was offered at a discount for £80 for £70 from somewhere else) which Run 4 It are willing to ‘discuss’price matching. But said (even though I never asked them to)will not sell them for my budget £60 even though they created the problem. Cant beleive I’m getting so wound up about a pair of trainers to run in mud I’m so annoyed even I’m struggling to follow what I’m saying

nice they even phoned me up to tell me they cant get my trainers but are happy to discuss price matching the new version with the places that sell them cheaper. Thanks run4it but I dont want to spend £80 I wanted to spend £60 on the other ones you said were in stock when I ordered them

Trainer shop has just e mailed to tell me it’s the stock systems fault and it ‘happens from time to time’ well sodding fix it then oh and the ‘significant’ discount they are offering off the new model as recompence still makes them more expensive than I can get them elswhere. I dont even really want the new ones they are bright yellow I want the old black/grey ones.

Totally agree….decided to buy them from that place because they specifically detailed them ‘in stock’.

I gave my brother a present which cost about £5….so he deducted the 62p I had borrowed off him a couple of weeks previous (which I had forgotton about)and gave me what was left over in coppers.

That was my thinking too, though I’m not sure I’m going to splurge on a Reimo. Do you think they’re worth the extra £££ over something like a Vamoose?
Been agonising over this very question…. my reasoning at the moment is that a bad roof has the potential to utterly spoil the van (leaks, noise, creaking etc.), so if I’m going to do it, I should do it properly!

    They are expensive though!

    Dave

I went through the same thing, went for a Vamoose one in the end means I had extra money for some shiny bits, like the fellas at vamoose (good service, need to work on the tea though, bit weak), meant I could get awning rail in the roof gutters (can’t with a reimo). Have not regretted the Vamoose roof, would be more than happy to put one on the next van if I ever change.

found some blue & white chequered reflective tape on flea bay….cheap as a can of paint should do the job.

Think I may have found a winner..chequered reflective tape….maybe not £70 a roll more than the bike cost

I’ve no intention of doing a ‘proper’ job, i was not even going to strip it right down ie leave the BB and headset in and mask off, quick rub down and spay with a colour least likely to interest the scrotes…..lime green, bright yellow or pink. Anyone know what the least stolen bike colour is? Uglyfying it by covering in insulation tape (green and yellow earth) maybe an option

just curious if all the paint will fall off in a week because it hasn’t been primed etc
