My old SS Wanga. Sadly gone
My old Kona unit 29er. Again sadly gone. Perhaps the new one will replace it’s finery
At the moment the Spicy feels nice

Riding alone in the woods is better than riding alone through the town if you ask me
At least the deer/werewolves etc only have teeth and claws instead of knives and guns

Still doesn’t stop the thoughts of ‘what was that though’

I had a couple of spokes go on mine and managed, just, to get the LBS to replace them
However they would not order them so, but have some spare in the back
They weren’t 100% the right length and were about 2mm short, but I got away with it and replaced them myself
The shop huffed and puffed about it and I have never returned there as each time I ask fir something that they cannot sell me off the shelf they fannied about as if it was too much trouble

When the rear axle snapped I could not get one for love nor money an ended up buying a new back wheel

    Good luck

Nice. Looks like you might suffer heel rub like me. I have old tubes wrapped around the lower of the seatstays to cure this on the Spicy
Who cares if it looks gash. It not a fashion show

So to that effect I am moving from a 90mm stem with 710mm bars to a 60mm stem with 750mm bars
    Sound about right?

I have to agree that the prices of new bikes seemed to have rocketed
    Mtb and road
Hence why I have only ever bought one new and that was on the cycle to work scheme and a road bike

What with fuel etc for those of us that have to travel for the better riding the sport is becoming a luxury sadly
Perhaps it is why my cheapest bike gets ridden the most

    2 snapped candy’s. 2 snapped eggbeaters.
    Zero response from Crank Bros
So as soon as these pair snap I am going back to Shimano

Sorry but having seen a carbon 456 in the flesh I am so glad I went back to steel

I have had 4 but always seem to go back to 26″
    A GT peace
    Scandal
    Voodoo
    Kona

Great for my local stuff, but they didn’t seem to suit my style of riding
That’s not to say I wouldn’t have another, I would, just not now

It’s not in FW but the Ben More lodges in Crianlarich are bob on
I stayed there during my lejog and recently before doing the 3 peaks
The pub does decent food and a cracking brekkie
It about half hour drive away from Fort William though

I know of 2 575 rear ends that have snapped. Hence why I went for the spicy instead
    Just another to consider

Ran it singlespeed rigid and loved it

Won’t be doing that again if there is any hint of any cloud in the sky
2 sets of pads and a knackered rear brake meant I spent half an hour famnying about with the rear brake
Couldn’t put in granny at all because if I did the dreaded chain suck kicked in
Missed the 51m cut of by 1 minute and was sort of glad really
Felt for the girl who made the cut off by 7 minutes but was directed the wrong way. She was not happy
In the end I drove home and went to the pub

It’s not just the things you hear, it’s the things that you ‘think’ you saw
On a local ride on a particular fast cheeky trail when we all regrouped I asked ‘did anyone see the man stood next to the fence?’
All I got was blank looks and it freaked me out until at the end of the ride another rider, who hadn’t heard me the first time asked the same question. Phew

Around by me we have a fair few big cat sightings and I believe I have saw it myself. But it’s the deer that run out in front of you that makes for trouser accidents

Solo night riding rocks, but would rather ride solo through the darkest woods than through the town and the dreaded chav……

If it were a group of specialized bikes then it would defo be a flock re the sheep

But re the oranges, throw an orange net over them and call them satsumas

As for the Lappieres. I will not comment as I quite like them

Fave FS probably my old Yeti 575 but the current Mongoose just seems to get better and better with every ride

Will be there on the Tinbred. Was gonna run 2.35 Kenda SB8s but having second thoughts now
Have been training for this on the SS and doing 70+ miles ok, but that is on Warwickshire hills not Northumberland hills.
Have not done a lot since the Exmoor explorer due yo a dose of the f#ck ems
Also have been fretting about not making the cut off points but now Am of the mind set that if I do I do. But if I don’t I don’t

    Sleep in the car.
I am putting the back seats down and dossing in the car.
Have booked the campsite but won’t be in a fit state to take it down so just going to collapse in the car at the end
Luckily my car is big enough

I have signed up for kielder but halfway through the explorer this year I started having second thoughts
I do the explorer most years and although this years course was very good, it was a toughie
Having spoken to some mates who have done Kielder they say that the climbs are mainly fire road and double track
Not that steep but drawn out. A bit like the one on the extended loop this year
I too think I am reasonably fit and can do 75 miles plus off road but I struggled on some of those last climbs

Just built a Teocali. Not a Canaan but similar freedrive suspension
Not to everyones taste but it is one of the best full Suss bikes I have ridden
I am even more than happy with the Epicon forks. Cannot notice any difference between them and my Fox 32s
My frame has the Fox Talas rear shock, which may add to the feel.
    Great underrated bikes

When I am back from my hols in a couple of weeks hopefully there will be a Genesis frame for me to build as my winter SS project.
My back has been playing up so will be riding FS for the foreseeable future so there will be no rush to complete it just yet

If the cop was holding a speed gun they can stand on any side of the road.
They point a beam at your number plate and the rebounding bean to the unit determines your speed.
Gatsos can flash if you go through the opposite way but won’t give a reading
The other purple ones work similar to the speed Hun

Sounds like an appeal is being sought for you being caught methinks

Meeting some other EE regulars there too

Normally have 710mm on my bikes and do so on the bouncer and 26″ hardtail. But have gone back to 685mm on the 29er due the mainly riding tight woody trails and it also helps in traffic as I commute on it

Cotic Soda? Plus I have an older on-one Lyndskey Ti frame if your interested

Did the honc 100k in 5hrs but there was a fair bit of road.
Then last week did 74 miles in 6.5 hrs on the SS.
Depends how you feel on the day

Depends if you are a brand hoard or not. I have just picked up a mongoose teocali 2007 frame and forks and so far so good.
Does exactly the same as my old Norcos, Commencals and Yetis.
Yes it’s a tad heavier, buy being a lump it’s not noticable.
Get an older frame and put your parts on it. No doubt it will be higher elected than the original

    My first time too.

Managing to get in a 65m+ ride per week plus commuting and club rides.
I have no doubt I can do the 100, but that niggle in the back of my head says should I be doing this.

I would be gutted if I got to a later check point and got the ‘sorry mate’

Anyone got the number for Toms field camping?

Club ride up the Long Mynd.
Took in the last minutes of daylight at the trig point.
    Superb.
