I was there today, and can only recall seeing a couple of bottles.
And before the holier than thou crew start, I plan to be there next week work permitting and they were on the black section

I know this goes against the grain Jo, but ride uphill more. Get a singlespeed and aim to do it on that. Maybe even a 29er
Singlespeeding increased my fitness in 6 months where as I plateaued with gears over the years.
Try entering more enduros too and the likes of Kielder 100. They will give you goals to aim for whilst training

Can’t you stick a 2.5mm or 5mm headset spacer to raise the bars slightly or angle the brake levers up a tad?
    nice though :)

Done it last night. Minton Batch was a bit of a state. Have done it loads before, but it was probs the worst so far.
The rest of the stuff was pretty dry though.
That was until the rain came about 9.40pm
Was going to finish in All Stretton, but came down Cardingmill.
It got dark really quick, which made it even better in a strange way.
Only saw 2 other bikers all night.

What SSstu said. The only time I ever let anyone else do owt on mine are wheel rebuilds. But even started doing them myself now

@ northwind. I appreciate that some of the chips were purely cosmetic. But others were not and well into the carbon
He has ridden it plenty since without issue, but personally I would be not happy with it with my considerable frame on it
    Personal preferences and all that

I have had the LT hardtail bug to, and considered the Carbon 456, and nearly hit the buy button.
However after seeing the state of my mates C456 after a Peak ride, I am glad I didn’t.
It was chipped that bad that I would not consider even getting on it again.
Being the wrong side of 16st I would not feel that the frame would hold up. Luckily the lad who’s bike it is, is around 11st wet through.

In the end I went for the Evil Sovereign, and glad I did.
Gears, Singlespeed, Rigid, 69er its all good. :-)
Not the lightest, but one of, if not the best hardtail I’ve had

+1 here for the Evil Sovereign
Possibly the best hardtail I’ve owned. And I’ve had a few
Plus you can run it ss with the sliding dropouts

I find that even if I put the geared bike in the same gear as what the SS is it still seems slower.
Must be something to do with the drag of the rear mech etc.

I would say man up. I did the Verderers today on the rigid 69er SS with 40 psi each end
And passed numerous full Suss riders

So ht rigid is the way forward, especially when you fancy waving your willy

Seriously though just ride the ht more it’ll soon fall into place 8)

We went to to this late last year, but the weather beat us. We rode the Marin first starting from Betws.
We then came out by the ugly house and went over the bridge and turned right up the road until the bridleway.
Once out of the trees the weather turned biblical and we made it down the fast fireroad to Dolwyddelan.
As we knew Penmachno was more exposed we deff’d it for the day and made our way back to Betws via the superb Sarn Helen BW.

A couple of lads who were with up returned a few weeks later and completed it. Although the section between Dolwyddelan and the Penmachno trail was a bog and it took them nearly 2 hrs to trudge through it.

Not worth it IMO, drive/ride between the two

Nice Sovereign, but I do have one myself.
Always fancied a Nomad, but I cannot justify a FS at th moment

The lad on the Salsa with the Titec bars is Nowik.
He rides with our Godiva Trailriders club, top bloke.

I did it on the Niner SS Rigid with the silly upside down Marys on in 5hrs 29mins and my wrists are still not talking to me.

Plus my chain never came off 8)

TBH Cannock is not the best place in the world, and yes if I could I would ride Wales/Peak District/Scotland etc more often, but its the nearest and until I get to know Woburn more it will be the nearest trail centre to me.
So I will make the most of what is nearest.
Each to there own, but if you don’t like go elsewhere.

Our weekday club rides are mostly joining up the local woods with urban stuff thrown in
A lot of the rides are geared around endi g up in the city centre for a play on the cathedral/uni steps, bridges and subways
If you can avoid the chavs and drunks your doing well and the diners in Nandos get a good show when someone bins it at the bottoms of the stairs 8)
