I’m in Coventry. Name and shame bike shop, as I’ll bet I know which one quoted you that
Are the brakes hydraulic or cable. Disc or V?
I would say that they need bleeding and would be happy to do it for you, but will be away until the end of the month
If they are hydraulic then try holding the brakes on and taping/cable tying the levers to the bars
Leave overnight or for 24hrs. This burps any air bubbles into the lever reservoir
It’s only a temporary fix but it works until you can get to bleed them properly

If you want to swap the 90 stem for a 70mm one let us know
I have a Specalized one on the full suss that is a tad too short

I have had a couple of Wangas and ran them with 100, 120 and 130mm forks without issue
Found it best with 100mm corrected rigids though

Rigid 69er ss is the main bike here
I only use the fs now and then to justify it’s existence
If SWMBO had a paddy and one had to go it would be the susser

If the alloy one is anything to go by, go for it.
I have an alloy one with the carbon seatstays, its billed as a medium, but has a 19″ seatube.
I am 6’2″, with 31″ inside leg if that helps, running an 80mm stem
    I love it

Chomp, I had a set of horror top trumps like that. The clown was the scariest

As for the kid, I would have taken him to the cafe where the bird with the big norks works and told him to ask her how babies were made

I’ve had 3 and commuted without issue
My commute does take in some singletrack in the wood though
One of the best 29ers IMO

Do it singlespeed. After last year I said if I did it again I would do it singlespeed to save grinding your drivetrain in the Kielder paste
X2 for the brake pads and midge repelant

I have a 140mm full suss and a hardtail that can take 140mm forks
I ride them both the same, although prefer the ht as a 69er rigid
The only reason I have a full suss is cos I can and I love the compression when exiting fast berms
I have been riding them both over the same terrain and have not even thought about line choice just because I’m on a particular bike
I just engage death grip and hang on and if I’m still on at the bottom. Bonus 8)

For me once I hit the beer stop at SSEC it all went downhill from there.
Back on track I was looking forward to Gisburn, but it has changed for a reason.
I have not done Lee Quarry, and would not have considered taking a rigid singlespeed there, as I have always imagined it to be rocky and in need of some bounce.
I am in and as previously said there is 2 months to go.
If I go will there be a somewhere to take my clothes off when I’m p1ssed? 8O

Not too hot, but I have the new one with the hole in the peak

    Light

Regretted it? No, but can’t say it’s my favourite type of bike.
I have had a range of 29ers, Voodoo’s, Scandals, Niners, Konas.
Probably my fave was the older style Kona Unit.
I then started experimenting with my Evil Sovereign and built it up as a 69er.

It looked wrong, but rode a dream.
I then went back to a Kona Unit, but it felt weird, although I had two of them previously.

Then I made some custom rear dropouts to allow for a 29er wheel on the Sovereign, and it worked!!

Although, I think I will go back to the 69er guise
I still prefer 26″ for the rougher stuff though, but the 69er is perfect for local stuff and Cannock, FOD etc

The new black stuff is signed off the monkey trail. Dead easy to see
I have ridden the monkey the past two Sunday’s in succession and it riding pretty well at the moment

Or get a hardtail frame and swap the parts over, keep the 5
Then if you want to ride ht fine or within a couple of hours you can ride fs just by swapping the parts over
Just put the same headset in on both frames to save changing crown races and get a ht frame with the same seatpost size

    Well, I’m sold.
Will do them in reverse D,C,B and leave A for the DHers
I more of a gravity fuelled XC type

I’m the same, but the shit weather is my excuse.
I am fed up of getting soaked
I commute daily on my 29er ss and love getting as much Mtb time in as possible
( I refuse to commute by roadbike due to the state of the roads and you can have more fun on subway steps and the small bits of woodland on the way into work on the Mtb)
However due to the rainy season I have found myself sinking lower and lower
I have tried building a new bike and had a blast yesterday around Cannock in the sunshine with renewed mojo, but after another soaking this morning I decided to get a lift home and bring the car into work
I normally find a day out to somewhere new or you having been to for a while works
I was buzzing yesterday after Cannock, and admitted it’s not the raddest or most technical but I had not been there in over 12 months and it is the nearest trail centre to me relatively
Plan a big day out and you’ll be fine

Stanley must have written the numbers on the tape measure wrong then
Although I am measuring a FTM not one of those el thingmys

    Still rides nice though 8)

    Bernaard

My FTM is a medium, which has a 19″ centre to top seat tube and a 22 1/2″ top tube.
With a 80mm stem and 750mm bars it fits me a treat at 6’2″ with a 31″ inside leg.

    Evil Sovereign.
I have built this with gears, Singlespeed, 1×9, 69er Rigid and 29er Rigid (albeit with custom made rear dropouts)
    Its my Carlsberg bike.

I’ve just picked up a used FTM in burnt orange
I was heading down th Yeti route again but was swayed towards this
Looks lovely in the flesh with the anodised finish and am expecting a coupl of hours in the man cave tonight spannering
