Did it again yesterday on the way back after doing Penmachno.
Great feeling around the trail centre with the bbq going etc etc.
Loving the new open trail before the start of the black run.
It may get slagged here and elsewhere, but for a high speed blast you can't go wrong.

I commute everyday (25m) and she thinks I do it to save petrol.
Once a week evening/nightride and either mtb or roadride at the weekend.
I get away to other venues further a field once a month with regular riding buddies, but that used to be more 8(
I also get a mtb trip away each year for a few days. Only been in the UK for the past few years, but working on Europe next year.
This years mtb break has been sacrificed for a Lands End-JOG charity ride though.

As said its either biking or I could always go to the pub dear………..

Does the route use any of the Penmachno trail? I am heading up there Saturday and would want to stumble across the route.

Singlespeed blast around the Chase this morning. Not bad seeing as it's only my secong SS off road trip.
Then tomorrow children detail, until I collect the wife from the airport.

Used to run 33/13 on the commuter. I have now gone to 44/16. It feels quicker on the flats and not too bad uphill either.

On the off roader its 33/16 all the way.

Carrera Fury, respray stealth black. Now with 44/16 and big slicks used as the commuter.

I run the 2.1's and IMO they are brill. Love em!

Just stick slicks on your hardtail, or get some new wheels shod with said slicks so you can swap them over quicker.

    Oh, and beware the cars

I find HT riding more of a workout than full suss. I still prefer riding HT to full suss, and even did a full on rigid SS ride over the Chase last night. That was interesting as I expected my calves to ache, but found that my hips do.
When you swap bikes there is always going to be angle changes etc, so I would say thats the issue.

I would suggest the Marin then if your staying in the area. You can bike to the start from Betws. Plus its probably the better option if the GF is doing it with you.
Details can be found on mbwales website.
Penmachno is very good, but has a more natural feel IMO, and a little more 'technical'
Never done Grizedale, so cannot compare it.
Coed-y-Brenin is about 1/2 hour drive and that has trails for all.

    Four here. For now.

    On-one Inbred.'07
    Yeti 575.'07
Carrera Fury converted to SS/rigid with slick for commuting
    Bianchi roadie

Tried to whittle it down to a roadie and a long travel HT, but failed.
Plus there is a Voodoo Wanga frame on its way.

If you have the room, keep them. I always think about selling the Yeti, but then I ride it and I change my mind. Again I think about selling the Inbred, but then I ride it.
The Wanga is going to be built as a comparison to the Inbred. Then whichever rides better will be kept.

Been considering ditching the Yeti 575 and the 456 inbred for a ti inbred myself. Just can’t pry myself away from the Yeti.
I do like that Charge though.

    4 bikes here.
    Bouncer with gears
    HT with gears
    Roadie with gears
    Commuter SS

Have to admit that the one that is used the most is the SS as I commute every day. The simplicity of just getting on and riding is what drew me to it. And a little peer pressure.
The idea was to commute during the summer before trying SS’ing on the trails.
Although after being in the Peak District this weekend I think anything other than trail centres may be a bit OTT for me on a SS.
I will be rigiding it up for the winter though.

Unfortunatley I am just up the road near Coventry and there are trails by me, but they are spoilt by gates to try and stop the enduro motorbikers.
Your best bet is Cannock Chase, but that is 50m/1hr drive.

Oh where to start. The whole place is a maze of trails that probably started as deer tracks, but have since formed into trails.
You really need a guide to find places like the Monkey trail etc, and will will be happy to show you. Myself and some of the mtbbritain.co.uk lot are meeting on the 7th May in the evening if you wanted to join us.
If not, if you do the dog until the begining of S13 then go over the road and through Tackeroo caravan site to the car park opposite the entrance and continue through that there is a nice flowing descent that leads to the quarry. You have to follow the track from the car park to the fireroad and the trail starts right in front of you.
Otherwise there are loads of the special events area too, but describing how the get there will be a nightmare,
There are also some cheeky ones withing the follow the dog too.

My mid-life-crisis just cost me £7000.
    1 x Kia Sportage (for Mrs B)
    1 x Ford Cougar V6 24v (well I am 40 on Thursday)
    1 x 07 Yeti 575 + build up parts

I will have a Harley when I’m 50, if I live that long.

Was there at the weekend. FTD is open bar sections 2 and 12. It was still frozen at the weekend but has thawed a little, so it will have now turned to slush and mud if it has thawed completely.
Brocton Coppice is off limits due to tree disease.
