I have a DMR Switchback, which is virtualy the same frame, except the rear dropouts.
    I love it.

A sensible reply, thanks. Praps its the tyres etc etc.

I have put it in a higher gear, but again it feels weird.

Serves me right I suppose for riding it to work when it is more suited to gravity biased trail stuff.

Yes it's a Switchback, but I ground off the V brake bosses prior to having it powdercoated.

Cheers. I have been trying to 'go local' to appease the wife, so I am not out so long. But as you say there's not a lot round our parts.
I have found some good stuff North Warks and Coventry way, but there is a lot of road links and its a bit flat.

Although my local ride today was pretty much like your mud fest, there was a distinct lack of dog walkers.
Which meant the dog egg threat was minimalised.

The ones that I did encounter were being good and picking up their pooches deposits, and were most friendly.

Now I know why I have a cat instead.

Did it last year, have a support vehicle and mates shared the driving.
Stopped at B&B's and mates houses along the way.
Did it in 12 days, averaging 80m per day.
Also took in the scenic route totalling 935m

The last day was dull, not only were the climbs out of Helmsdale and Berridale killers after 11 days in the saddle. The scenery changed dramatically. We came through Glencoe and the east coast up to JOG is a little flatter.

We only had a couple of flats, and some broken spokes so not bad in all.

Don't listen about the prevailing winds from south to north, the wind was in our face all the way.

Been running the Wanga as a SS with 130mm on and it feels fine.
I was planning on putting the 130's on another frame and having that as a commuter SS and putting the 145's on the Wanga.
I have compared the bikes stood together and there is little in it with regard to geometery, but point taken re the gusset stuff, but I am not a big jumper.

Hardtail. I did it a couple of years ago and wished I had taken my HT. Also wish I took my HT to Glentress and Innerleithen too.
200 miles is a bit far to travel back to get it though.

I was very sceptical re SS'ing, but tried it, loved it and my fitness has improved dramatically.
Only really use FS and gears in the Peak District now.
