44 married with no kids, never wanted them tbh but never gave it too much thought and it just never happened.People always find it strange though and presume there must be a reason why you haven’t had them. They are not obligatory and i don’t doubt its the best thing that ever happens in someones life but what else can they say..

I thought you were meant to keep them separate( with your pedals and shoes)so if your bike doesn’t turn up you can rent a bike and not ruin your holiday

I know its a bit obvious but go and get a decent bike fitting done, there are loads of them out there.Position is a bit more important on the road bike as you don’t move around anywhere near as much as you do on the MTB

You can do pilates at home but i would go to a class first or even better some one to one sessions so someone teaches you about body positioning as its quite easy to look at pictures and try and replicate it,doing it correctly is completely different.

Yeah you can stretch in front of the telly with a beer if you want and you only need 5/10 minutes couple of times a week to make a difference so no excuses.Pilates has made a massive difference for me to the point where i feel i sit on my bike in a better position which puts less stress on my back

Here in Italy to do any competitive amateur sport you have to have an annual ECG with a cardiologist, this involves 12 minutes on a gym bike or treadmill depending on what sport you do.I have a couple of club mates who have had problems highlighted and refused a license. They have then been treated and then returned to racing.Maybe the UK should follow suit.

I bought a custom 953 a few years back,Brian sized me up for it and I ended with toe overlap. Not a major issue but if I hadn’t let home convince me and had made him make it the size I wanted it wouldn’t have happened. Then the chainsaty cracked,ok it could happen with any bike. When I got it back they hadn’t put the headset back in and forgot to even put it in the box. They also forgot to weld a cable stop on the chainstay ffs..I found a manufacturer near me who fixed that for me,now the chain stays go rusty and I have to wire wool them every now and again.Maybe that’s normal I ain’t sure but I wouldn’t recommend them.Just my experience

Join the local cycling club as soon as you get there, there a good chance they won’t speak much english on the club run hence you will have to speak spanish. As doug says do a university intensive course before you leave ,but what ever you do you WILL arrive underprepared but thats the way it goes. For me personally learning the language grammatically really helped me understand it,which is the way i think they are teaching english now not how we learn’t it.I live in Italy and when we got here enrolled myself on a course which i studied for a whole school year.I really worked at it and sat an exam at the end of the year, which i passed to be told that was the exam for a 5 year old italian ffs..Whatever you do best of luck..Ben

Four really good races, very hard conditions to race on .I do prefer a more heads down course though tbh sand/mud as opposed to a skating rink.the junior race was really good and the women’s excellent..

My R.E. teacher at secondary school was a priest and he showed us footage from concentration camps and Hitler watching piles of bodies being bulldozed into mass graves.Very harrowing but as morecash said it should be compulsory in schools. He also showed photos of aborted fetuses for which he got a b**locking off the headmaster.I can’t stand religion but they were certainly the most interesting lessons i did at that school. In another lesson he told us what was involved in exercising peoples houses, all interesting stuff as a 13 year old lad

The cannondales are great race bikes but in my experience very fragile in that of the group I ride with at least five ride cannondale hard tails and they have all had new frames due to them cracking.he is a reputable dealer and they come with a lifetime warranty but I couldn’t be bothered with the hassle.one lads road frame cracked as well.
