A colleague got the same email today as well. Still nothing for me though :-(

5 different continents and I was always in/on the right one :-)

Is it targetted? Everyone I had had sea/water and mountains and made me want to go there on holiday :-)

Binners – There’s not enough AC/DC played really really loud of an afternoon.

If you have decent internet speed and a good screen you need this link in your favorites. Lost many evenings in the last 6 months to that :D

You are right Catan is 10+, but he is very nearly 10. More importantly has been playing board games for years (unlike many of his peers) so I thought it would be OK. No great stress though as I will just wait for him to mature a bit :-)

Ticket to ride also sounds interesting. Small cards are not an issue though, he is wearing clothes for a 13-14 yr old

PS – just checked and atmosphere is available as a DVD game and looks worth a go, but is three player minimum so not for this weekend

Suddently remembered some website about ‘build your own games’. Might look into that as we can build and play something Star Wars themed :-)

Cheers Cougar – Wish I had asked this a couple of weeks ago as I bought Settlers of Catan, but have decided it a bit tough for him at the moment. I did not realise there was a junior version. Carcassonne was also in my hands while I made my decision. Seems like my impulse buy was exactly the opposite of what I should have bought

Space Hulk, Space Crusade, Dreadnaught expansion, Necromunda and Blood Bowl all in relatively good condition….. I was shocked at the value of some of them on e-bay when I started getting them out again!

Power has been fun, but the lad can get frustrated as he is only just starting to understand the concept of ‘strategy’ (same with Space hulk/Crusade, but to a lesser extent)

Haven’t thought of Atmosphere. I thought it was a VHS based game and even walked past one in a charity shop a few weeks ago :(

Son (9) is just getting into Star Wars so I was looking for something related as he and I have a lads night in on Saturday. That said I am open to suggestions.

We are playing everything from Cluedo to Space Hulk. Sources of games are; my loft, charity shops and friends as well as the more traditional shops hence the wide variety

More than happy to take suggestions :-)

Don’t know, but if you are going to go abroad don’t mess about. Go to the one in California. It is the only one that has a Lego Minifigure in Google Street View so is obviously the only one they take seriously ;-)

I went to the hotel just before it opened and I was excited (I am in my 40’s)

Two years before that I took my 7 year old to the park and he loved it. As above try and go out of peak time to avoid the queues

Only negative I have heard is the problems they sometimes have with wasps. We saw lots of wasp traps and a few wasps, but not many.

Still nothing from them and still no way of contacting them. Credit card company say nothing has been deducted from my account.

Looks like I have lost out. Wonder if I can buy one at cost from someone who bought 5 ;-)

Question for those that had a problem: I ordered online without creating an account. I got an order reference number, but have still not received a confirmation e-mail. Is this the same as you found when you tried to order without creating an account or did you not even get an order number?

Trying to contact Nook for info is not going well, the online chat is not working and the e-mail address for support is being rejected :-(

I really don’t want to place a second order as I really don’t want two as I am not sure how easy they will be to sell as lots of people will be trying to flog them for a profit in the next few weeks, but I don’t want to miss out :-(

No confirmation email for me :-( But I do have an order ref and have not seemingly had my order cancelled either :-)

@Steveoath – Thanks for that :-) I admit that finding out that there was an SD card slot was a deal clincher for me, but I was not expecting it to be quite so vital!

Just a thought for if its sunny (when it will be busiest)

Drive to the chain-link ferry (Swanage side) and park up

Go over on the ferry on foot and then catch an open-top bus to Poole bus station hoping off at the civil center roundabout for the Parkrun

To return either jump back on a bus or walk across the park to Poole Quay and catch the Brownsea ferry making sure you get the one that stops at Brownsean AND the chainlink ferry. Stop for a stroll on Brownsea if you fancy

Admittedly (probably) a more expensive way to do it, but it’s a nice area and the bus and boat trip options will show you some nice bits :-)

IMLE hotels ‘systems’ get blocked because of the Mail server settings, not the IP address that originated them, but that’s not to say it is definitely whats going wrong here.

    As above more info required

Known problem for ‘old’ hotel Wi-Fi and/or ‘old’ Laptop SMTP setups where people did not have a ‘roaming’ style of setup

As Cougar says you would be better off making sure everyone is using the same SMTP server settings for all outgoing e-mail. Your e-mail providers settings will almost certainly work

VPN could be a bit overkill unless you need it for other reasons

I mounted a cheap flashy light bracket to the seat tube. Two birds, one stone :-)

Or maybe a small blob of screwlock. Enough to stop the movement when you don’t want it, but possible to ‘break the seal’ if you do need to remove it?

Have you seen the X-rays? If you have a copy can you post it here?

I did mine (and a few other bones) in May last year and have some first hand (untrained) knowledge of some stuff (operate v not and different types of plate etc)

    Commiserations!

Yes. That’s actually a stunt man who is actually on fire.

I thought that was a sarcastic comment at first, but a bit of help from Google and I am educated :-)

Oh! Another idea for when you get a little bit more mobile is Geocaching[/url]

I have found some great new routes to ride while out Geocaching and am in the process of sketching them out (with notes on type, surface, inclines etc) on a private google map. As the map data grows, circular routes start ‘making themselves’ :-)

Do you have any interest in photography? If so take your camera and head out to decent ride spots and try and grab some action shots. Your knowledge of riding will give you an edge as you will be able to predict good spots to stand and catch some action in your shots.

Once you have got proficient go to a trail center on a busy day and post your resultant shots of the ‘hotshots’ on your website charging them per image and see if you can earn enough money for a new bike :-)

If you are short of ‘customers’ arrange a STW day out ;-)

Few people seem to have good shots of themselves in action. I know I don’t :-(

    Yes, it hurts!

I ‘suffered’ for a couple of days and then went to the GP who gave me some pills. I seem to remember it went away in less than a week with no lasting effects and no re-occurrence in the 15ish years since

I don’t have an Outwell Montana (can’t afford one), but they really do look like good family tents.

I will not try and recommend anything else, but from experience I would say that ‘all metal’ poles are better in a larger tent. The fiberglass ones in our various ‘large’ tents don’t seem to be up to the job and have caused us countless sleepless nights and abandoned holidays when the weather is not perfect :-(

Can you plug a cable in for your evening usage? If so, you can then turn the Wi-Fi off (sometime this can be done automatically by the router at set times of the day).

It is (probably) the safest way unless there is 3G signal in the house in which case anything you do could cause a huge unexpected bill

As I sit here killing time at Waterloo I have just remembered to recommend the train station near Capitol Hill. Worth a wander and a great place to stop for a coffee (although not as impressive as Grand Central in NY, it beats Waterloo hands down!)

If you don’t ‘do’ America often, it is worth popping to a Five Guys (I went to this one in DC) for a burger. Doesn’t look much, but it is well worth seeking out

PS – The method is to tell the person you are buying from that a previous car sale became painful because the seller did not send off their bit of the form for ages. You were then unable to tax it etc. You then politely ask them to sign their bit and let you have it so you can send it all off at the same time. If they agree you then have all the paperwork you need to sell it on without your name/details ever appearing on the cars records. That said I thought the changes in SORN etc had closed this loop hole
