Down to a balmy 8c this morning. A combination of leaning out the bedroom window with a heat gun pointing at the gutter and a hot water bottle on the pipe got things defrosted. Temps hovered around 4c so that helped too.

Boiler back up and running. Pipework in the loft lagged with 19mm thick pool noodle type of insulation from b and q. Can’t yet access the length poking out the roof also been looking at heat trace, should be able to wire it into the supply the boiler uses.

Cheers and glad to see it has helped others.

Not sure if the pipe is push fit at the boiler or if it’s been glued/welded in place. Have to get to work so a job for tomorrow sadly.

I’d been looking at wrong outlet, condensate is plastic and runs across the side of the house internally and exits into the gutter at roof level. It’s a good 21.5mm,god knows why I thought the curved over one was it.

The same gutter I was admiring the icicles on and clearing the icy puddles off the steps directly below the condensate pipe.

No lagging on it but I can sort the inside section. I’ve put a hot water bottle on just in case that helps.

    Thanks

Thanks, I’ll try pulling the pipe out and into a bucket. The bit of pipe sticking out the wall is 15mm copper and about 10 to 15cm in length. It’s also a good 20+ foot up the side of the house so no chance of heating it up to thaw.

Is the ivana Trump grave/tax dodge real? It appears to be true but seems bonkers if not at least in keeping.

Another recommendation for the autoglym kit. Worked very well on my old A3.

As above, 1910s terrace with double and single brick external walls with no cavity. Cold damp and mouldy and never stayed warm. Removed all the old crumbly plaster then boarded with 50mm Kings pan. Difference was immense, marginal loss of space but warm and dry. Used the insulated plasterboard upstairs but the Kings pan was much better.

Misread the meter. I did this last time and woke up to a £2k bill this month. All resolved now and a smart meter getting fitted next month.

From memory they’re tool free, unclip and push down to lock on the battery post. Awkward to access

An easy, cheap and successful fix, win. I’d like another c4 grand picasso, really useful family car. Back in an old xsara picasso and it just doesn’t have the space.

It did give us the Wagatha Christie headline so I’m OK with it.

Utter waste of time and money in reality of course.

Does declaring general mobilisation mean anything beyond a statement? Does Putin have some additional forces in reserve or does it mean people can be conscripted into service?

Should we anticipate a mass exodus of eligible people?

I used 5wt motorbike fork oil in my yaris, as its not used for damping don’t think the weight of the oil matters too much. Just there to lubricate.

    Unless you’re rebuilding the damper…

A lot of psa cars from the early 00s onwards use a shared unit for lights, indicators, wipers, cruise control air bags etc. On mine everything except the wash wipe worked, the switch had slipped out the housing. They are prone to indicator and lighting issues. With you mentioning the side lights come on with the headlights wondered if it might be the switch.

Disconnect and reconnect the bulbs? Could be damp in the connector block, spray them with a bit of gt85.

Ideally I’d go for full electric with induction hob. Running the cable pretty much determines things at this point. There’s a solid wall, and an rsj to deal with. Kitchen is an extension to the original house.

Gas it is, had seeen a beko in curry’s for under £400.

Unfit geezer – having the same experience with my eldest. High functioning asd, top sets, intelligent but no emotional regulation. Phones and xbox controllers are an almost 2 monthly purchase. Refused to speak, look at or even acknowledge parental existence for the last week. Good to hear that your sons are finding some level of control. It’s not easy, sometimes you feel you’re making progress but it can be easily undone.

Is the likelihood of an accident increased with not being able to steer the car as quickly as before?

Will your insurers, police or legal system look favourably upon you when the failed steering comes up?

    I wouldn’t be driving

It was the yardmaster ton sheds I was looking at the asgard ones are a bit beyond my means. At the minute the bike sits under a cover in the back garden, it’s not a flashy or new bike. Just wanted so where dry to store it with the option to use it as a workshop too.

I had a nemo and same as above, had to take the single rear seat out. Could fit road bike or medium sized bossnut in wheels on.

I miss that car. Don’t miss the the semi auto gearbox though.

Thanks for that northwind, looks like a no on metal. Might look at plastic out of curiosity, wood seems to be the only viable option.

Start a dispute devaluing his house, buy said house at a knockdown price. End said dispute. Sell yourself your own garden at a favourable rate build a drive or garage sell house. High fives all round.

Used the auto glum kit on an old A3, worked really well. Used a battery drill and plenty of water to keep the lens clear of debris.

Bought a packet of haribo pontefract cakes. They’re a little disappointing, not quite the nasty plastic cheap liquorice but no flavour. I’ll stick to their tangfastics like the child I am.

Do camelbak still have the strap buckles that loosen off as you move. All my camelbak suffer from it. Now have an osprey belt thing, much better designed than the equivalent camelbak it replaced.

I have wrapped the loose waist straps on my back packs but it shouldn’t be necessary.

I’ve used VCDS lite from Ross tech previously, it’s free to download then used a cheap ebay KKL cable USB to obd connector to link the laptop to the car. Newer models may require a different cable the Ross tech site is very honest about the ebay cable compatibility.

Currently have a cheap Bluetooth EML reader but that’s just the emissions info nothing like air bags, fuel blocks etc.

Update, tried resetting the gearbox cables first. Logic being if it solved the problem I could then buy the proper spec transmission oil.

It didn’t fix it but… The cable end on the linkage nearest the engine was damaged. One of the three fingers had snapped so it wasn’t fully gripping the cable. Topran branded replacement ordered.

Hoping this might be the cause but I’m not overly optimistic. Still got an oil change to do so…

Sleep in my old Picasso for snowboarding trips to glencoe. Have been improving it over time. Last time I went I used the inner tent to reduce cold and condensation. This year hope to make a sleeping platform and proper bubble wrap blinds. Duvet beats a sleeping bag and have the windows open.
