I’m surprised no-one has mentioned this already, but this years IOM TT Norton. If anyone didn’t see the documentary on the making of it before this years TT you missed a great spot of viewing!

UK made and my god it sounds glorious too.

On the contrary I had sh*t customer service from Upgrade. Which resulted in me going on holiday sans dropper post, which I’d stressed was important. They will still not pass the info to my LBS to fix the issue either, despite attempts.

But is the loft very cold compared to the outdoors?

I would assume so, I may be about to be proved wrong though.

    On a slightly different note, has anyone tried, or had any success with single room HRU’s? Thinking about replacing my standard, rubbish bathroom extractor with something like this;

    http://www.envirovent.com/home-ventilation/products/heat-recovery-systems/heatsava/

    £340ish

    or

    http://www.vent-axia.com/product/lo-carbon-tempra-htp.html

    £150ish

both are retrofittable, constant trickle, humidistat boosted.

    Thanks, Ben.

What about if you have an unventilated loft space? My soffits & fascia are all flat plastic.

David – will these not come as standard on the 2015 ones then?

I’d heard 2015 bikes were all pretty much due out in Sept so was hoping for a good deal on a 2014 frame!

I should be able to get away with it then, I’ll be putting similar spec’ stuff on, except for the carbon bars.

Doof – what tweaks have you noted? I’ve not seen any details or release dates on 2015 stuff yet.

Thanks Sam, I managed to fine the CCDB inline on TFTuned, did you manage to sell on the CTD, what are the resale values like?

Looks like I’ll be heading down the 150mm Pikes option. Regarding dealers my LBS have an account with Silverfish, their website is showing no stock of any XL frames other than black. Though Sunset Cycles and a few others are showing stock, but at full RRP..

Edit; if only this was an XL 😐 http://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/1648093/ (it’s also on Ebay if it sizes up for anyone else interested)

Sounds good Thrusty! I’d be hoping for a build under 30lb with some choice speccing.

I’ve just had a quick search on Ilkley Cycles and they’re not showing anything Turner on their website..

    bennn

Oh cool, I’m literally just into the XL on the Turner sizing, so that sounds promising!

I’m not overly sold on the CTD shock, but cannot seem to find frame only options, although it does appear to come with a Monarch or Monarch+ in America, did you get a good deal on a CCDB, and if so, where from?

Ah, thanks. I hadn’t searched (though I normally do) as I thought it may have been something malicious on my laptop.

Bit far for us that, they’re supposed to be passing over Holmfirth, so if anyone’s got any good ideas for that direction would be good?

Second the Vaillant opinion, as a gas engineer they’re well made and easy to use.

Where abouts in the country are you?

Any idea on where will be best to watch tomorrow in West/South Yorkshire?

I’m going with my old man, and brother, and we were planning to go up Holme Moss, but it’s about 4miles away from the flight path. Have you lovely lot got a better plan?

We’ll be coming across from Leeds.

As a Gas Engineer myself, get the Vaillant, Worcester aren’t all that great and that seems to be a decent price.

Walker – Got mine from All Terrain Cycles, limited sizes though.

Have you tried http://www.blazingbikes.co.uk/cycling-shoes/Five-Ten-Freerider-elements-cycle-shoe-black#.VAQQMfldXuJ , which is the other place I were looking?

Thanks Mark, shop opens at 11, how do yours fit? (ie; size same as ‘normal’ trainers?)

I’ve got a Mountain Equipment Fitzroy jacket, which is Primaloft insulation, and is plenty warm with just a t-shirt underneath.

In fact one of the only times I have worn a jumper underneath it was about -20 or something silly in Chamonix. Packs down tightly into a (provided) stuff sack too.

If you haven’t guessed already, I recommend.

    Yep, bought some pedals.

Turned up quick, seem good quality, very sharp on the shins though! (I jest, that’s not their fault!)

    Try Superslaks http://www.silmid.com/products/arrow-super-slaks-600ml-aerosol.aspx

We use it at work (contains graphite) and is very, very good.

Also, which shop in Leeds? I know a fair few.. (serial browser)

Large and Medium frames only though, I’m fairly sure I’d need a n XL 🙁

    (Great PSA for others though!)

Mmel – not near Cheshire but Leeds, what size is your frame? That is a very generous offer!

Also; from Blazing Bikes you do only appear to get one set of dropouts, I’d be a bit stuck unless I got the 650b ones anyway, £2k is a lot of outlay though!

    bennn

I’ve been offered a similar deal on the 2015 frames Mmel, but only if I pre-order, which Pikes did you go for, 150 or 160mm?

Thinking about buying both sets of dropouts and sticking with 26″ to get the build considerably cheaper with some of my existing parts..

(Can’t get a ‘new’ build less than 3K with a decent 27.5″ spec)

Lobby – I’d be looking out for second hand bargains on here, naturally!

Apparently the 2015 frames have slightly different tubing, CCDB inline, and new colours.. so not much difference really!

I’d literally be buying new everything, I’ve seen Hope Pro 2’s with Stans Flows at around £340, Pikes around the £450/500 mark, dropper, transmission and tyres. It’s the frames I’m really stuck on as there seems to have been a price hike in recent years!

Just looked at Creation Cycles, £1750 with CCDB, the new 2015 ones can be had for less than that when they come out soon!

Dont suppose any of you nice fellows are in the North of England (West Yorks to be precise) and have a L or XL frame I can throw a leg over do you?

Payment in beer can be arranged..

Edit; I would also need a ‘new’ build to come in under 3k, otherwise it will have to be second-hand. The new Cotic Rockets look ace, but I’m put off by them being 26″ only.

Lobby where’d you get your frame from? So I know who to avoid..

    bennn

That’s not too bad then, I’d probably not be building it up with carbon anything to start off with, so I’ll expect it to be 30LB+

    bennn
    Free Member

Are they fairly heavy built up then? I was hoping for an all in weight of around 30LB.

Nice! How would you say it rides? As I’m after something shorter, lighter & snappier than the Alpine, would you say that it’s still OK even with 160mm up front?

As an aside, I’m now after an XL frame second-hand if anyone’s got one, as the deal I thought I had on the 2015 new release isn’t as attractive as I first thought!

Morning all, so am I thinking correctly that all I need to do this is some correctly sized rim tape for the internal diameter of the rims.
Some fluid -(how much per rim/tyre?) and some valve’s? Do I also need a valve core remover to get the fluid in?

Neither the rims or tyres are tubeless specific.

    Ta’, Ben

I’m hoping either some manipulation or something can be done to sort the problem once and for all. I’m open to more Cortazone, as I had this for my knee, although it didn’t help in that instance.

Its not actually been that serious a problem when driving as to need a special cushion, I was just stating a few of the things that caused discomfort at the time of the original injury.

I will seriously try to get to the GP this week, so he can ‘refer’ me to someone else in about 6 weeks no doubt!

    bennn

I do a fair bit of sitting driving about, I wonder if that is exacerbating the problem..

It could be as simple as needing your sacroiliac joint manipulated

Ahem, pardon!? Haha. No, no numbness in my legs or feet, just this occasional pain when I overdo it at the gym or go on fairly hard, steep walks.

Looks like I’ll be ringing the GP in the morning, although they’re usually fairly useless!

To be honest no, as I initially thought it was just bruised, or that I’d ‘bruised the bone’.

I now think I may have possibly fractured it rather than caused minor damage, but the doctors couldn’t do much if it was fractured anyway could they? It’s hardly pottable!

It wasn’t complete agony all the time when I first hurt it, just if I sat on a saddle or anything applying direct pressure, even slouching on the sofa for too long, so I just battled through it.

Ok, sounds like I’ll keep scouring the classifieds for a 20″ then.

    Thanks everyone! 😀
