Not too sure what the problem is here. I’ll be taking it apart again and maybe look at refitting the crown race.

Keep it. It’ll be more costly in the long run when you are in a good position to replace it.

Reply from Orange. They recommend either a 54 or 56.

That’s why I haven’t mentioned the bike. The topic goes off subject as soon as Orange is mentioned.

    It’s a lovely bike, I’d have one.

Scoop saddle looks good. I’ve gone gone for the same with my green Soul.

    It’s an Orange RX9.

Sold / bought? What difference does it make? It’s not the right size….

We’re pretty much the same height, he’s maybe a shade taller but with a longer inside leg.

    I’d go for at least a 54, possibly the 56. 52 is generally recommended for 5’5″ – 5’7″.

I’m quite confident they’ve sold him the wrong size.

Other than a small loop around the car park and straight into the van home, no.

He’ll be taking it back in the morning.

It would be the same as me buying a 14′” MTB frame when I know I’m a 17″/18″ or Medium.

Cheers guys, I’ve made extensive Google searches. I really dont think this product is available in the UK at this moment in time.

Different stores are giving mixed stock dates raging from 04/04/14 – 25/04/14.

Not far off. It’s for a Cotic Soul Build.

I was up there at around 1300. The trails are running perfect. Best they’ve been since just before Christmas.

Cheers Scamper. Almost answered my own question but just needed the reassurance!

May sound obvious, I know. But with so many variations, I didnt want to order the wrong size before being absolutely sure.

Having looked at the front on online stores, there only seems to be a standard wheel option with no offer of size. Will I have to remove or adapt the wheel to fit?

    Saw this on wiggle:

Top Features of the Hope Hoops Pro2 Evo MTB Front Wheel
    CNC machined in Barnoldswick, England
Machine built and hand finished in-house
    Bearing type: Stainless Cartridge (61903, 61802, 61804, 61902)
    Hub Body: 2014 T6 aluminium
    Colours: Black, Red
    Hole Drilling: 32
    2mm brass nipples
Spokes: Sapim Race or Sapim Sprint spokes depending on the rim used
    XC Rims (Crest, Arch, XC717)
    FR/DH Rims (Flow, EN521 & EX721)
Wheels supplied with QR and 15mm Conversions except Mavic 721 that come with QR and 20mm Conversions

Does that mean I can have the wheel either way as it comes?

    Thanks again.

    Very helpful topic, thanks.

I’ll definately be refering to this when starting my new build around April/May time.

Oh, and it’s a 26″ steel hardtail for the record! :D

Wouldn’t bother with QECP at this moment in time following all the rain we’ve had. Last time I went was early December when the trails were running like it was spring, then came the wet weather!
I won’t be back until it’s been dry for at least two weeks.

Can you ride this course without joining the event itself?

I only ask as a friend of mine is riding it and it’s now sold out, otherwise I’d happily pay to be a part of the event….

As you’re heading towards the old railway from Winchester Hill, there is a section about 30m long in a foot deep of water from the barbed wire fence over to the brambles. There is litterally no way round it!
There was no way I was going to turn back an make my way back up the quagmire of mud though….

Then at the end of the railway when you come off for Exton, the railway arch is copletely flooded too, again around 1ft deep. My feet were already soaked by this point!

To answer my own question, very wet and muddy!

For anyone riding this way, avoid the bridle path between Winchester Hill and The Old Wickham Railway! I already committed myself to this section so ended up riding through a feet deep of water which was completely unavoidable – my feet were soaked!

Otherwise very rideable and fun as always….

Even 1 x 10 is enough to climb most steep hills. 1 x 11 makes it that much easier again….

    Cotic Soul Medium Green.

If I didn’t already have two orange bikes, wouldv’e got the orange one!

If you can do 50 miles off road with lots of climbs in around 6-7 hours, you’ll be absolutely fine!

1 off road mile = 2 road miles (according to me and a fair few others)!

    Good luck, enjoy.

STW have featured the Endura Transrib Baselayer on Freshgoods this week.

What’s the best buy out of this and the Icebreaker 260 / 200 or what would you guys go for?

It’s touching. It could be relocated if required.

Sancho, how is it stupidly easy to break into? No less secure than the average house unless of course your MO is to smash through a solid wall or roof…

Doesn’t need building regs, I’ve checked.
    It’s essentially a glorified shed.
As for the wheels coming off, I dismantle the bikes and hide the pins so that if I’m burgled, persons can’t actually ride anything away….

Finally made use of the wall space at last!

….and a bit of storage too.

Now just a workbench and vice to go….

The Neon Orange is great. My other choice was Raw which I’m still very keen on!

It’s quite difficult when taking a photo to capture the true brightness of the Neon Orange colour. However, hope this helps.

The Five is Neon Orange (obviously) and the Crush is Carrot Top Orange for comparison.

The last photo is what you normally end up with when taking photos in direct daylight.
