Disregard – I have fixed it.

But to answer my own question for any others facing the same issue:

Rather than disassembling the whole unit to access the circuitboard, I taped a torch on top of the flywheel (beneath the handle) and after feeding the jack back in, gently prised the plastic guard back to make a gap between that and the flywheel. I could then guide the jack in place to the circuit board connector and with a metal skewer, gently pushed the jack up to click it back in place.

For such a simple issue, it seems crazy that access to this area has been made so difficult.

To be honest, I’m not sure who is right or who is wrong, hence asking the question. I’m merely just intrigued to see what peoples thoughts are on the matter.

It just seems a little unethical to me.

To look at it another way, after a four month absence, if one decided to rejoin another gym and pay for the first month of August, why should they have to make two payments (the other being the previous gym), just because the gym have had to close. It’s not the customers fault or issue that the gym has had to close during a notice of cancellation….

“So I’m not sure where the ‘overpayment’ bit comes in.”

Perhaps not an overpayment as such, but none the less a payment that probably shouldn’t have been made as the cancellation period was completed and it was just unfortunate for the gym that they were forced to close. Without trying to be harsh to the gym, it should have been their loss.

I’m happy to be corrected, I just wanted to have more of an understanding if they were within their rights to do this or if they are shafting people over.

I’m probably going to purchase one today. I’ve currently got a Tacx Flow which is a budget trainer that I bought to try the whole turbo thing out. These are currently selling used on eBay for more than what I paid new which is bizarre!

Managed to use an adjustable spanner to pull it out ever so slightly. Put the mech back on and went through the gears.

Seems to be running fine but will be ordering a new one just to be on the safe side.

    Cheers guys.

I’m certainly not going to risk gambling with the extra £3k – we’ve already decided not to go so if it were to go ahead as they currently claim, we’d lose the lot!

It was a packaged holiday. I believe it is TUI themselves that state under the T&C’s that if a holiday is not paid by the due date, it is the customer who stands to forfeit any monies paid which is why I will not pay anything more.
I’m not sure the ATOL protection applies unless the holiday was paid for in full as that forms part of the contract. They too could end up sinking as a result of this pandemic.

I personally think TUI will go bust. I have made reasonable attempts to make contact with them to cancel/discuss options which I am unable to do as the phone line goes dead due to caller demand.
If I were to pay the remaining balance, the only way I could do this would be to go in store. The longer they stay closed, the better chance I have of making a claim I guess…..

I’d love to take the nice bike, but that picture does not fill me with confidence. A friend suggests this is the 0900 ferry and an earlier one will not be like this. It’ll still likely be busy on the way back though…..

Winter bike it’ll probably need to be!!!

I think I may go for one but will wait for the first batch to come through and see what the reviews are like.

Some of the comments from customers that have pre-ordered weren’t overly positive. They had a major issue with the production supplier and materials of the final product not quite up to standard.

    I’ve gone Rain Man.

Cant believe it’s taken so long to get round to watching this film.

Mudbound and GBH are on the list.

    Cheers guys 👍👌

I’m beginning to wonder if my Specialized Shoes are going to turn up on the forecast date of December or even if they’ll show up at all? I’ve got £150 credit in those shoes due to a previous pair ordered not fitting. Wondering whether just to buy something else for now and go elsewhere for the shoes……

A lot of money for a bike, I know. I’ve kept all of my bikes and don’t plan on selling this one at any point.

It’s definitely a bike for best and hoping to get loads of miles in come the spring.

I’ve been waiting for some Shimano RP90 Road Shoes which were due in this week but pushed back to mid Nov due to a delay with the distributer. Made contact today and changed this order to the New Shimano RC7 as they are in stock and are ready for collection next week.

I am however still waiting on a separate order for a Kask Protone which I am wondering will even show up…..

These products are both popular models and generally in stock most places so it’s clear there are issues going on in the background.

I know, it’s a poor picture and believe me, I’m aware of all the faults! 🤣

Oh, and it’s not my gate so I’ll pass on the advice about a touch up.

Tape and Seat are both holographic. TBH, I could take it or leave it. I’d have chosen black if there was the option.

Not the greatest photo, I know. Had a quick 15 mins spin just to try it out, Di2 is amazing and the bike very light. This’ll be quick once the legs have a chance to warm up!

Hadn’t considered placing an order to collect at a later date, it’s been a while since I’ve bought new from a store.

I’m guessing the latest Di2 batteries are located within the seat post so removing that will be simple (Tarmac).

Fitted Corian to ours. Cost more than all the units and appliances but it was the one “must have” item for me. Very pleased with the outcome.

Website has been down for nearly a week now. I’m looking to purchase a new bike soon and was going to use Evans for their “trade in” discount plus vouchers purchased at a discounted rate from a corporate perks scheme to pay the balance.

The only issue with purchasing the vouchers is they’re non-refundable so if for some reason the bike I want (currently pre-order) doesn’t show up, I’m stuck with some very expensive vouchers.

Not sure what to do. I was ready to commit to a purchase prior to this news coming to light and with the website still down, I’m suspicious they may just be in a spot of bother………

I’m going for the Pro. Yes, I think I am going to go for the Pro.

    Blazin-saddles,

    S-Works frame £3500

    DI2 groupset £1100

    Roval CL50 £1200

Plus another few hundred quid for finishing kit. How are you doing it for less than a Pro?

    benmotogp46

S-Works frame only you say? 🤔

I was thinking the same about the Di2. You’re right about the Turbo Cottons – I was considering asking if Evans would throw them in. Unlikely but worth a punt!

    benmotogp46

I’ve decided Expert. The price jump between that and the Pro, just for Di2 and a slight wheel upgrade, is too much to justify for my purpose.

    That’s awesome Flange.

But are you going S-Works, Pro, Expert or other?

I’ve just done some numbers and worked out that offer would save an additional £185.

the only downside is it’s all going on a 0% credit card so will need to be a proper purchase.

To be honest, I’m quite happy with the discounts as they are but, if you’re spending a lot of money, you may as well look to get as much as you can I guess….

I’d get the deal by ordering online or in store but thought if dealing with a shop assistant, they may have the discretion for a slightly better deal.
