    Tissue usage would go up.

I’d be too busy looking out for werewolves and monsters to be worrying about my bike.

I have, but I don’t know how much it weighs. I’d guess at around 36lbs as it’s slightly lighter than my mates 951 which he says weighs 38. If you can get to the forest of dean sometime you can have a go if you want.

While we’re here have you got any of your 32mm machined hex sockets available? Could do with ordering one.

Sorry for late reply. It’s 577mm, same as this years one. It is quite a long bike, I’ve had to spin the bars before now to fit it in uplift trailers.

I’ve got an 18″ 2010 Orange Alpine frame available if that’s of any interest?

I think it’s quite sad. It’s such a load of nonsense, and I suspect he knows it.

A massive hangover and a lot of embarrassment.

I’m not an expert on this, but I just changed the pads in my Elixir 5’s on the front. And they were tight on the disc, even after giving it some hefty levering with a big flathead to get the pistons apart. So…..I let a bit of fluid out of the brake lever, and now it’s all good. I had done a bleed with the old pads in, so they would have been slightly overfilled. Also, I should imagine the cold weather causes the metal to contract fractionally, which might tighten them up as well, by reducing the size of the chambers and line. Maybe.

No worries. I need to swot up on my bikes I reckon too! Bit behind.

Sorry if this input is ungrounded as I’ve not ridden either, but isn’t the Enduro more ‘all mountain’, with the Stereo being more the equal of the Stumpy? Looks a pretty mint bike either way, but I’d have thought all mountain is more the realm of something a bit tougher, and probably heavier at the same time.

And if you replace 2 of your 4 bikes with 1 doesn’t that leave you with 3 ❓

Sorry to jump on your thread, but in the pic by Benjag, is it the 4 little cracks coming out from the hole and the 2 cracks close to either side of the apex of the arch shaped weld that were the concern? Mine looks exactly the same. Also on close inspection it looks like there’s a tiny (2mm or so) crack appearing on the rhs weld of the shock mount on the frame, running from the front of the bike. Mine was one of the first 2010 ones.

I have. I only bought one thing, and sent it back, as it wasn’t what I wanted. But (one of) the guy(s) rang me while he was at the mega to say he would sort out the refund when he got back, and he did.

I got a pair in a sale about a year ago. The lace covers keep crap out (of the laces) well, but they don’t look like they’ll last much longer as the stitching is coming apart. Bit of glue should sort it. The shoe itself is fine though. Just look a bit special.

Have you done a seal change recently? Last time I did mine I think I put a bit too much fluid back in it, and it was quite squelchy for a while, but now it’s ok. Sure I seen a post by someone saying it could be a seal thats come out of place, or something like that. Not being an expert however I can’t be sure.

You can get silicon switch shrouds from the far east easy enough, but they generally come in 1000’s. One of these over what leffeboy suggests might be your only option, unless you can find some gadget cheap enough with a switch on it that you can take off

Someone might have already said this before, but did the rider go out with a script ready to reel off when this happened, as it’s bound to in a town? And a camera at the ready as well? I’ve got no sympathy for the van driver acting like that, but I’d have just let it go I think, we all make misjudgements. It didn’t look massively dangerous to the rider.

I sold a Patriot and a Stumpy FSR to get an Alpine. In an ideal world I’d have had a full on DH bike and a Five, but I don’t have that sort of money to buy them, or the space, and I couldn’t afford to keep 2 bikes in good condition.

I’ll be honest I do sometimes think I’ve got a little bit more bike than I actually need, and that maybe I should have got a five AM, but it’s probably only a bit heavier by maybe a couple of bags of sugar or something, and I can live with that. I’ve done uplift days on it, and it was great in the Alps (obviously I suppose), I even managed to put in reasonable lap times at OSMM. In all honesty though I had my heart set on one when I first saw it, and rarely have many moments regretting it. I’m not a particularly hardcore rider, but it’s good to know in my clumsy moments it hopefully won’t break under me.

Blackspire Stinger. If I didn’t have a gamut I’d have got one. I bent the bloody thing on the second ride I had it.

Which 661’s? I had a pair fo chicken wings which were useless at staying put and fell apart despite not being used much. The Evo’s look great though. I use race face zero’s now which have been great so far. Can’t comment on others, but from what I’ve seen POC are really good.

Ditto. Much more impressed with the Elixir 5’s. Only problem I’ve had is that one of the levers just flaps about now.

I guess the answer will only depend on what you want from your riding in the end.

Could be useful in some situations. A bit of extra power for getting a heavier bike up a hill for some descents, as not many places have an uplift. Somewhere like Stile Cop, or Leckhampton as examples some might know, where you want to maximise your riding down. Some sort of dynamo for recharging on the descent?

Not sure if they would be any more prone to breaking. What about leaf springs in motor vehicles – usually off roaders? – and they can take a real battering.

edit: scrub that, you’re on about the weld. I don’t know.

I got a bit of a going over on here for mentioning good service from a shop, and ‘miswording’ comments about another local shop. Just send an e-mail to Shaun. Cheers me up no end when I get compliments for work.

Well I’m sick as a dog, and have been curled up in bed all day trying not to empty myself everywhere. I guess the high point’s been not puking on the floor or crapping myself.

Kinda returning a favour. Saw your thread and decided to take mine off so I could swap the levers and shifters around. Much better now.
