Good work. Couple of points Bangor A&E is Ysbyty Gwynedd.

If you manage to hurt yourself badly at Afan dont bother going to Neath port talbot, by the time you have got across Baglan its just as quick to stay on the motorway and go to Morriston and its a much more capable a&e department.

ive had the gearbox issue. 1 and 2 gear suddenly disappeared. Fitted a reclaimed box from a breaker as I was quoted 1200 for a refurb of my box! I think the 2.0 tdi is a good engine, I think it does have alot more niggles with it than the 1.9 though. Its worth noting that its the bnm engine code I think that has the oil problem, the others are more reliable i.e. not all 2.0 tdi’s in all vag cars are identical.

Thats what I need to get – the turbo is overboosting and dropping the car into limp mode – I want to be able to look at what the pressure in the turbo both sides are doing to try and work out what isnt working right. From what I understand is can be vanes on the turbo sticking or being mal adjusted, vacuum hoses or the map sensor being out

I’ve only got one, more would be nice but cant really justify it at the moment! Most people on here seem to have far too much money!

I have met a lot of eye surgeons who wear glasses. Think its short term very good but as I understand it the jury is still out slightly on what the longer term outcomes are likely to be.

bear in mind if you speak to your optician that he/she sells you glasses and contact lenses so his/her advice may not be massively objective.

Of course I would never say that ;-)

Unfortunately the argument that its still too cheap because people drive 2 miles to the shop doesn’t really work. The fact that they are only going 2 miles means that whatever the cost it wont cost that much because even if they do it every day it wont cost that much because they will only be doing about 28 miles a week. Once petrol becomes so expensive that people wont drive the 2 miles to the shop it will be so expensive that nobody else will be able to leave the town they live in. People are just too fat and lazy.

The NHS can seem annoyingly inefficient at times. I think its actually quite hard to organise these systems so that it works effectively when required, yet doesn’t leave people twiddling their thumbs for half the time. Must be pretty frustrating though.

ah but thats a different situation than what the OP is talking about. The OP is talking about an appointment for an xray made for him by the GP, not an AE attendance, where as you say the AE doctor will make the call as to whether its broken or whatever. They will always be referred to fracture clinic in that situation though where an expert will view the film to check the AE doctor got it right.

I think your right though if the fracture was barn door obvious then its likely the radiographer would send you straight to AE.

Yes but radiologist have ‘some’ more. Alot of radiographers training is about how to actually take good radiographs thats a very different skill from being able to interpret them.

yeah but the guy who confirmed it was a fracture was a radiographer it still needs to be formally confirmed by the radiologist. Radiographers are often pretty good at looking at films but sometimes they really aren’t straightforward and it needs an expert opinion. I’m a fifth year medical student and I’m still crap at radiology.

Thanks guys, useful to know, I used to run my old landrover on straight veggie and it was fine. I was, still am considering buying an old diesel banger and running it on b100.

Its interesting looking on the biodiesel manufacturers websites, none of them make any mention of problems!
The lubricity thing is interesting. I SVO has a higher lubricity than dino diesel, its the thickness at lower temps that causes the injector pump issues, I guess biodiesel isn’t the same in that respect.

have any of you actually used the stuff though?

No pretty much all diesel engines should run biodiesel, in fact its already mixed 5% in the fuel you buy on the forecourts.

Your thinking of straight vegetable oil, which only certain cars with a bosch pump will be ok with. Was interested in peoples experiences of running biodiesel B100 specifically.

I would have thought its obvious, its their way of asking for christmas presents. Mine wants a christmas present of a new speedo/dashboard which has all stopped working, new central locking, new interior lights, new electric windows, new timing belt, new clutch. I think it may be being a bit ambitious this year.

yeah but you had to wait ages for it, not if you rooted. Plus it means you can get rid of all the bloatware as already said.

I wear one, irrespective of whatever the evidence base is/isn’t dont really fancy a ski boot or a snowboard or a runaway ski etc.. hitting me in the noggin. I wouldn’t go down same slopes on bike without one and I probably go faster on ski’s too, so for me its a bit of a no brainer. I’m a skier btw.

ecg made easy is good for ecg’s

    http://www.ecglibrary.com/ecghome.html is also useful.

http://www.acid-base.com/ i’ve always found useful for blood gases stuff.

I use a cyanogen rom, it doesn’t have the annoying sense stuff over the top, which i prefer. I think the major advantage with custom roms is that you don’t have to wait ages when new stuff comes out for htc to release there update!

Its not like the Alps but its still skiing. I had an amazing day in the aformentioned powder on the Gorm last year. Its way cheaper than the alps too, you can stay in a youth hostel for 7 quid a night, buy food from Tesco, drive up there with 4 in a car. The only really expensive bit is the lift pass, which is around 20-30 a day, comparable with the alps these days. You can do 4 days skiing for under 300 quid all in even if you live in Southern England.
Cant wait to get back up there!

I used to have a 110. Now I have a sensible saloon. The saloon is far more sensible and practical day to day, but I still really, and I mean really miss the landy.

i used to work for them when I was a student in Sheffield, they had two shops then, now they have over 20, their rate of growth at the moment is simply unbelievable!

I use vision direct, have done for about 2 years now, they are a shed load cheaper – like half price compared to the optician. I just pay for my contact lense checkups myself, it still works out cheaper because I dont go as often as the optician wants me too!

Possibly not the most sensible option, but I recon as long as your careful with how long you wear lenses for and give your eyes enough rest Im not too worried.

are you sure your not confusing it with lariam/mefloquine ? Its the one which you take once a week and tends to have the neuro/psych side effects. Most people just get vivid dreams though. Malarone is a newer drug (and also alot more expensive) which is supposed to have fewer side effects.

I was there at 11pm on sunday night for a night ride, I got out the car in the car park and it was like something out of the x files, I got absolutely savaged. My legs have been on fire for the last five days. I recon I got over 60 bites in the time it took me to get ready.

Twas fine once on the trails tho!

500mb is not plenty on a phone – my Android phone on the standard browser can hose through 40mb+ a day easily of just browsing internet pages. If you then download a couple of video's, an mp3 here and there you can very easily breakthrough 500mb!

I use opera mini to make the allowance go further!
