well it’s closed officially (was last weekend) but if you go a bit further along the ridge you will get to the descent I was describing, this would not mess up your route too much.

I wouldn’t worry, the rocky descent further up derwent past the outdoor centre (top of Hagg farm ascent) is better anyway.

double and bash, pah you bunch of lightweights, I ride 32t single front with bash on a 36lb Heckler (although I have just bought a double chainset!)

have a look at big bear active, not stayed there but spoke to the guys in the new shop in pickering (big bear bikes)

They are very legit, I worked there for about 10 yrs…a very good bunch of riders too!

I’ve got a galaxy 115 tdi normally 45 mpg, could get 4-5 bikes in the back with wheels on +2 people or 3 bikes 3 people. Drives just like a car will do about 120 if you need and can do vey long journeys in comfort. Bored of mine now after nearly 5 yrs so selling it! ~£3k for a 2001 with 108k miles.
