So Cy are you going to be doing a Soul C2W special? I’m just trying to talk work into offering the scheme and wanted to get a hardtail. I’d be happy with rigid forks + ss and use it for commuting. If I want to off-road it I’d chuck my Pikes on.

Cy, go for the external butted chainstays, I’ll need a Hemlock even more then.

I’d get him whilst he was down, nursing a battered knee after a doubles jump fail at the moment!

Juan, is that aimed at me? I’ve test ridden a few bikes and the Hemlock is the one I prefer, and it is UK designed. Not interested in French bikes thanks! I would buy from a test ride rather than a mag review…..

I rode Cy’s own bike at the sherwood demo day, I’m a big bugger (100kg)and ride quite hard. The back end does not flex in any noticable fashion, in fact it felt very hard tailey and direct with the short rockers(compared to my Heckler) and intend buy one when funds allow. I was also liked the Thor forks which were on it and took all of 30 seconds to set the air pressures.

    edit…Jon that was me!

I have a brand spanking new 36T E-13 clear bashring (with long chainring bolts). I could be prepared to let it go for £20 inc del.

I was using 1×9 with a front mech to keep the chain on, today was my first ride in 2 yrs with a granny ring and I was very glad of it grinding up rushup/mt famine and jacobs today!

I’ve got the sintered type in my rear hope mono m4 and they are lasting longer than the goodridges I had last time….

I rode cy’s bike at the Sherwood demo day, set up was 120R 140 Thors up front, and it was bloody fantastic round there, Ok so not particularly exciting but it impressed me enough to decide it will be my next bike (have Heckler with coil pikes) just need to save the cash. I’m a big lad (6’4″ and 105kg) and there was no flex at the rear, Cy only had to put 30psi in the rear shock to get it set for me (he’s ~85kg)

Speaking to mr Cotic, he was saying some of the standards they have to test the frames to are way in excess of anything you would apply in the real world.

Rob, no offence taken! I would say that the pikes are definitley not designed for that but I can’t afford some lyrics/wotan at the moment that would be suitable. Planning to build a Hemlock with 160mm forks.

Ton, I’m 16.5st and the 1+m drop to flat was bottoming out the x-firm spring on my pikes, wouldn’t have fancied that with air.

I’ve never trusted air forks as I can imagine the seals blowing out in the middle of nowhere leaving me up the creek sans paddle. Coil front and rear for me.

I’d class a stoppie as rolling to a stop with the rear wheel in the air, an endo would be a dead stop with the wheel in the air

I changed to Ti rails for greater fatigue resistance, i’ve broken the rails on a couple of cro-mo saddles.

Theres some reasonable dh bits at Sherwood pines now and a dedicated dirt jump part too. I waas there today (travelling from near Gainsborough so know how little decent biking there is round there too!)it had changed a fair bit since my last visit 6 months ago.

Never been, found the Les gets one and it looks very nice, no booking is a bit of a problem though as I don’t want to turn up after a 800 mile drive to find it full (first week in Aug), the missus and kids won’t find that funny! Also found one not far from Morzine, Les Marmottes I think, bottom of the valley but can be booked

thats the same descent I was describing, bugger going up it, a real waste!
Also on another point when was the rocky descent from hope cross called ‘the beast’?? I’ve been riding in the peaks for 20 odd years and never heard it called that until last weekend buy some mates of mates?

pieface, that takes them down the wrong side!

biggins, the crookhill farm ascent is ++steep! go with it, the rocky descent is worth the steep climb even if you have to hack a couple of miles on the road. PS pie and peas at the derwent caff is a must!
