Tell her not to be hard on herself, as has been said successful CPR for out of hospital arrests is rare and even in hospitals success rates remain lower than you would exspect.

A paper publish in Resuscitation Journal looking at CPR on intensive care units found CPR was performed in 98.2% of the patients within 30 s. Initial restoration of cardiac function (RCF) and successful CPR rate was 100% while 24 h survival was 9.2%.

I’m not too sure about rollers but on my turbo (Kurt Kinetic fluid) I tend to ignore distance/time as the faster you pedal the more the resistance increases so I always find it difficult to maintain the high end speeds I can do on the road.

I know you can (sort of) calibrate a turbo by adjusting the resistance to give a set slow down time (i.e takes 20 secs for the wheel to stop spinning from 20mph) but I can’t be arsed with all that, just like to get on with it.

I’ve used a herbal tablet called ‘Herbal Blue’ when tired and stressed, I got it from the local sex shop but you can get it on Ebay

It last for about 3 days.

triples are cool, compacts are gay

This is actually true; I’ve got an audax/randonneur mate who is hard as nails (Paris Brest, LEJOG in 3 days) and he’s triple all the way.

The rear shifter will work either way; to use your front triple shifter with a double chainset you’ll just have to adjust your limit screw to prevent the third click taking the chain any lower

Mine lasted a month and I ended up on prednisolone for bronchitis.

As a general rule, gentle exercise with a cold (nasal symptoms) is ok, chest infection=rest, cold air can further inflame the airways aggravating the cough and in the VERY worse case you could develop Myocarditis (Inflammation of the muscular wall of the heart caused by a viral or bacterial infection); the risk of having myocarditis increases if the body is subjected to physical exertion when a viral infection is present

Go to the site and you can get a break down of each workout.
Like AMT27 say Angels (climbing) is good, I’ve also got Local Hero (longer endurance workout), Downward Spiral (descending intervals) and A very dark place (5x 4min all out intervals); quite honestly they are awesome to the point I can choose them over an outdoor ride

Sufferfest ‘A very dark place’ about an hour ago, I did a mini sick at the end of the third interval.

I’m going to try. Not had a drink since Boxing Day, been drinking far too much in recent years and decided enough is enough, can’t say I won’t drink again but I hope I don’t.

+1 Martin, having worked on ICU for 10 years I can tell you it can lay waste to fit, strong people in a matter of weeks. You suffer organ dysfunction, struggle to absorb nutrition, catabolise yourself as you fight for life.
GM looks like a man who’s just spent 3 weeks sedated and ventilated due to a critical illness, end of.

all situations are evaluable using “scientific method” and the use of the term “scientific” to imply 100% reliable and accurate is a fundamental misunderstanding

I fully agree but the joy of scientists is that they will continue to search for the answers and explainations rather than find them in ancient scripture and ritual.

    BenHouldsworth

“science” is not about Truth but just another interpretation of our human world view

But science is systematic, observable, reliable, repeatable and more importantly testable within our current understanding of the universe.

A ghost cat on the end of your bed, however real to the person who saw it, is certainly none of the above, especially testable; it is a matter of faith, of which I have none unless the subject matter is systematic, observable, reliable, repeatable and testable.

Brian Cox can explain why ghosts cannot exist, its all to do with the 2nd law of thermodynamics, entropy and energy dispersal.

It all goes over my head but as far as he’s concerned energy is stored or dispersed and a ghost would defy the basic laws of physics that the universe is built on.

As most of us here do not know what we’re talking about and he does, I’m with Cox.

The posting of ‘the card’ without actually checking if you’re in is a weekly occurance round our way; seems to be a different postie every day so there’s no relationship between him and the street like in the good ole days.

As has been said been said they are all pretty shoddy these days and seem to have lost sight of the fact that customer relations are key to their future success.
