Cool, I’ll ask him if he’s sorted it locally then drop you a line, how much are you asking?

I’ve got insurance through work for me and my wife, £90, half of which is taken through my tax code.

If you’d have asked me 15 years ago when i worked in the NHS and it was well funded I’d have said waste of money but I’ve used it twice in the last 2 years and got treated so fast it was scary and for something the NHS probably would say no to.

I’ve got degenerative discs in my lower back, I could still ride 90 mins before they hurt and while uncomfortable wasn’t crippling me but was affecting MY quality of life.

First call got me 6 weeks of physio starting the next day, no real resolution so got referred for an MRI; got it done 48 hours later, found the discs and compressed nerve so referred to a consultant and admitted and steroid epidural within 7 days.

More recently I’ve developed rotor cuff issues, again there’s folk far worse than me but pain didn’t resolve and I couldn’t do things to the extent that suited me.

Saw a consultant and he popped some steroids in there and then.

That’s what I’m paying for, to be treated incredibly quickly with clincians that will treat things the NHS would say aren’t bad enough yet.

Mister P, just googled it and its not illegal to use a phone while driving (in Florida, other states differ) but they take it into account if you crash/cause shenanigans

I forgot everyone seems to be on a phone as well

I’m in Florida at the moment and it takes shit driving to the next level.

Lots of cars have combined brake/indicators, both red with no obvious difference in brightness to differentiate but the never use them anyway.

Zero respect for speed limits anywhere and freeways seem to be 90 mph in every lane.

It’s genuinely stressful in a way far worse than my daily M62 commute which I thought was the shittest journey possible.

It’s like a real life game of Frogger.

I rode it singlespeed 33/21 and apart from one climb near the pit area it was all rideable every lap, not a tough lap at all.

Tire wise Bontrager XR2 front and rear never missed a beat.

Captain, I understand where you’re coming from.

Having seen my father keep the ashes on one dog in a teak box by his bedside and not have a foreign holiday in 10 years with his current dog ‘as he (dog/him=not sure) couldn’t cope’ I think a lot of pet owners are a bit mental and odd.

We’ve got a cat, one of two brothers we adopted, the now run over one turned out to have dodgy knees and without insurance we’d have been in for £2000 per knee, he actually got run over on the evening of getting the second knee sorted.

The alive one is a nice cat, nice to stroke, kills lots of stuff, kids love him and he tom cat struts the neighbourhood but I choose not to emotional invest in him as he’ll die at some point; enjoy things for what they are but pets are finite and it’s a lot easier if you enter the relationship with that in mind.

My forks arrived today, no further emails since I purchased and the order still shows as pending on the account so don’t give up hope.

Riding rigid all winter so hopefully by the time I actually use them everything else will be sorted.

I’ve had a Superb estate SE L 4×4 (150)for just over a year now and not been left wanting for anything.

Absolutely cavenous, gets 49 mpg with trying that hard (had 55mpg fully loaded doing Leeds to Cornwall) and costs me around £220 VIA bik at 40% tax.

My company is starting to talk about hybrids/electric in the future but I’d get another at the drop of a hat if the time comes.

I’ve recently got some Travers Prong XC forks; clearance for a 29×3 tire, can come with mounts for anything cages, stiff yet compliant.

    I like it

Ridden it in 40c Nanos and 1.95 Renegades, both on a hardtail, and was faster on Renegades by 2 hours.

The places I wished I had drop bars were the long exposed fireroads where there was a definite aero advantage but over 10-12 hours I’d ride the bike you’re most comfortable on.

I’m riding a rigid SS next year for what it’s worth.

It’s been a great bike and I’ll miss it, many adventures, races and miles have been had.

Spoken to Jon at Chicken Frame Emporium and he’s done a number of similar jobs and we’ve decided on rocker dropouts for the reasons you say STATO.

The alternative is to look at Curtis XC9 built to Solaris geometry

My friends wife, who both me and my wife loved dearly, died suddenly 4 years ago, 2 weeks after giving birth to their second child.

I wish there was some advice I could give for the here and now but it probably took me 2 years to reach a point where I didn’t think about her every day.

While I’d not experienced a tragedy like that previously I guess my saving grace was I’d spent years working in critical care so knew these things happen and very often it’s a case of rather than asking why me asking why not me?

Grief counselling is wonderful and while it might not stop the pain it will provide strategies to frame it in a way that lets you cope.

Sorry for your loss and best of luck moving forward.

Update- just had it up on a jack and it spin with some resistance but there is a definite sticking point that it passes.

Randomly there has been an RAC man with another car where we are so had a chat and he thinks it’s likely pad alignment and said it it was serious the brakes would have overheated and failed by now, going to get it looked at in France.

Cheers for the replies so far, definitely think it’s brake related as zero noise pre service.

It’s not pulling to the left at all and mpg remained steady yesterday.

As I did 350 miles yesterday and I didn’t blow up I’m going to risk 30 miles Plymouth today and 60 tomorrow. Got euro cover as it’s a company car to so will give them a call from France.

I live in North Leeds and work in both Newcastle and Manchester.

My worse journey time to Newcastle (90 miles) has been 2 hours where’s as Manchester (40 miles) is routinely 2 hours and often more.

I’ve worked this patch for 5 years and the M62 us getting progressively worse by the month, the A1 is a pretty good road in general.

2000 feet of climbing over 50 miles isn’t a great deal and 100g weight difference will be unnoticeable.

If your climbing isn’t going to increase significantly I’d go aero every time.
