That’s what I thought. As removing metal was always going to be the solution I felt an tiny file and an hours gentle rubbing/refit/rubbing would be the easiest solution rather than send it back and moan.

I’m a dumb ass! It needs a GXP (SRAM) bottom bracket not the hollowtech one I’ve been trying

I was best man earlier this year and we did the Monopoly pub crawl; it was fun, we dressed as Scooby Doo characters, got thrown out of West End bars and lost the stag in SoHo

b45her nothing makes its cool, reason for getting was I’m from Leeds, my dad rode a Bob Jackson, as did my neighbour as a kid , I wanted a steel bike and in Yorkshireman fashion wasn’t prepared to pay £2000 for a IndyFab/Speedwagen when I can get something local that’s just as good

Edit- what is cool about it is I saw them building it, saw the tube set, saw the paint shop, dropped by after work like kid hoping it would be ready early, if I stood on my chimney I could almost see where it was made. It’s MY bike, not some ‘generic’ frame as has been suggested.

Boblo, it was the bargain price of £660.

Custom geometry would have been £100 more but the stock geometry was within a couple of mm of my bike fit so I went with that.

Choice of tons of colours and lug lining but as ahwiles correctly points out I wanted a simple classic frame that will still look good in 10 years.

On a separate note, did you know Tom Boonen rode a steel Pegoretti sprayed in Specialized colours to his 2007 green jersey

the weight isnt what you get a frame like that for anyway

Exactly! Even if its heavier I don’t care. 15 years ago when I was ‘proper’ fit (no wife/kids etc) I had a steel Graeme Weigh frame with a 42/23 bottom gear and I never worried about the weight or how big hills were as it rode so nicely.

I’m hoping to get that feeling back……….basically its a midlife crisis bike

    Shibboleth, bits as follows

    Columbus Minimal fork
    DuraAce/ Ultegra mix
    Chris King/ambrosio excellence wheels
    Bontrager carbon chainset
    Thompson stem/post
    3T Ergosum bars
    Crank Bros Quattro pedals

Good functional stuff for big Yorkshire rides

Winterfold, its a 23.5 inch frame (59cm in new money) the luggage scales say 2.3 kg which means its a kilo heavier than the carbon frame it replaces.

To begin with its being built with the kit of my old bike so I expect it to come in around 19 pounds which is about what I expected

If this woman liked you THAT much back then she would have kept her legs shut and not taken no for an answer from you.

Harsh but true. Get over it or betray your wife and lose all the friends you share when you get caught, get in a fight with the cougars current husband, sob on a night when you realise its all gone wrong but its too late and your wife won’t have you back, end up with nothing.

    Or it could work out

++++1 for Rottnest, Ningaloo reef is worth the trip if you can go that far and the kids would like the dolphins at Monkey Mia.
My favourite place was a little town called Kalbarri.

Headed up and around North Leeds and Harewood.

A fun but unrideable grind in places, deep frozen ruts covered in 6 inches of snow meant lots of offs . Passed a few cross country skiers which was a novelty

I’m not normally one to join in with flaming but it does look like poncey jiz.

For me it’s the use of the word ‘bidon’ that irks me the most, when I hear people use it I stop talking to them (unless they’re French).

Did 15 miles this morning in 6 inch snow, average speed 6.3 mph :( it was better than nothing but pristine snow hiding deep frozen ruts meant I was on my arse every 5 minutes

I liked it as well; have we got any decent continuous lengths of beach in the UK? Here in Yorkshire it’s all a bit craggy

Aye, had about 4 inches on top of what was there from last week so should make for soft landings.

Pauls Components is the prettiest, works as well for a top only guide but can be hard to find in the UK.

Superstar do a seat tube mounted guide but folk say the mount is poor; shame as the BB mounted version is good.

E.13 make a very expensive one, the Audi/Orange 5 boys will say that is best.

It’s not for this thread Tucker but I think you confuse the evil acts of humans and their interpretation of religion as an excuse for their actions with most religions original intent and teachings.

There are thousands (if not millions) of depressed people worldwide (myself included) who have found relief though medication and counselling without having to resort to any belief system. Belief in oneself is the key.

Belief in oneself is the key though for some a belief system gives them the strength to believe in themselves.

Some of the happiest, most grounded people I know have faith and its the hope it gives people in times suffering which means that, while not of faith myself, I never belittle others for having it in their lives.

Whatever gets you through the night brother.

I don’t know a lot about art but I do like these

I got to see the Klimt exhibition in Vienna last year and went to the Dali museum in Tampa a few years back. Up close, looking at the brush strokes they are impressive and I was amazed how large Dalis Christ was

I often thinks its very difficult to understand the pressures on life the next generation feel, even those only 10 years younger, how they measure themselves and view themselves.

I think it often takes feeling secure in life to actually afford the space to stand back and see what is actually important but when jobs, lack of mortgages, feeding kids are so hard to do at times and so often the things folk are measured by its easy to see how some struggle.

Either way, until you are in a place you can’t see out of its difficult to understand.

+1 for trying before you buy if possible. I’ve literally spent hundreds on saddles other folk said were comfortable with/without cut out, based on seat bone width etc etc, certainly Fizik have the full range for trial at some stores as do Bontrager

I struggled to find a saddle I liked for years but finally settled on a Fizik Aliante which I now have on all my bikes.

You might get one on EBay for £60
