Built up a Santa Cruz Jeff Kendal during the first lockdown and promptly tore my hip flexor doing 10cm Ollies on the drive.
Now I just collect Natas Kaupas reissues

BenHouldsworthFree Member@bonzodog , it seems they struggle with percentages, I just entered the 20% code also got 25% off
BenHouldsworthFree Member@tpbiker, you’d be surprised at the manual processes behind many high tech companies. I work for $3 billion medtech company and the stuff that slips through, undercharging customers for years etc/assumption the new correct product code has been passed on etc , it would blow your mind.
We’ve overwhelmed them at a time of year with skeleton staff and HUKD scalpers with no interest in the actual product means 5000 orders in 24 hours versus the 500 they staff for.
BenHouldsworthFree Member@stevious, I agree and if a drunk friend hadn’t WhatsApp’d a drunk me at 8pm on Xmas day to tell me about a watch I’d never thought of owning I wouldn’t care I’d missed the deal. But he did and now I’m invested.
BenHouldsworthFree Member@aidy, they are close to 30 pages and 1200 comments on HUKD, it’s positively an oasis of calm and rationality over here though someone did create an online survey where responses showed 83% have received nothing but an order received email
BenHouldsworthFree MemberThere seems to be a bizarre logic to it all, bloke on HUKD ordered 2 Instincts and an Enduro, Instincts got cancelled but now received 1 Instinct and no Enduro and Garmin refusing to refund the difference.
Likewise orders from Boxing Day being delivered and 7am Christmas Day orders still in limbo.
I think we broke them.
BenHouldsworthFree Member@boombang, I asked this question and the payment remains authorised for Garmin to take but CC companies usually drop them from statements after 5 days.
BenHouldsworthFree MemberIt seems Garmin may have twigged that it should have been a £70 and not a 70% discount and have started refunding payments.
User on HUKD posted a reply from Garmin Support saying there had been an ‘issue’ with the website so messaged them and was told the same, then checked my statement and the money is back.
I’ve never been so disappointed about not getting something I never really needed.
BenHouldsworthFree MemberWhat @stanfree said. Finished season 5 last night, just brilliant.
BenHouldsworthFree MemberS#it!!!! Their ears must have been burning, just got an email.
Everyone stand down, contract reviewed and last working day confirmed 😄😄😄
BenHouldsworthFree MemberHi Lucky7500, got a gardening leave clause and involved in projects/have company sensitive knowledge information AND I’m going to a direct competitor.
I’ve got 3 months of restrictions in my contract post notice period to not entice/endeavour etc a employee/client/supplier but nothing else.
In terms of my current role it’s changed significantly over 12 years, now has a significant commercial component and I guess ‘I’m important’ BUT my job description has never been amended so it’s all a bit of a pickle as I’ve got the t and c’s of someone not important.
It could all reflect a lack of process as I can’t recall anyone going on gardening leave in the UK throughout my tenure but equally it’s a multi billion dollar company that normally protects its interests very assertively.
BenHouldsworthFree MemberVerbally informed, as for why aren’t I riding I’ve been given a long list of blue jobs by my wife, regrouting a shower today and night ride tonight.
Thanks for the consensus advice that it’s their problem, I’ll relax a little.
BenHouldsworthFree MemberI’m more concerned that this is a legal process and if I had an employee whose contracted I hadn’t reviewed for 12 years and it transpired he had no competitor clause I’d be getting gardening leave restrictions watertight in hours.
It just seems so lax and I probably should just chill.
BenHouldsworthFree MemberAnother vote for Triton Cycles.
Currently in don’t answer the phone/emails limbo on an order still showing ‘In Stock’.
We have progressed from ‘Payment Received’ to ‘In Picking’ but 5 days to pick a bolt off a shelf seems excessive.
BenHouldsworthFree Member@mrmo legally yes but given when track and trace called after my sons positive test they had no idea it was a day 2 test , no knowledge we’d been to Greece and none of the info we’d submitted with the tests (DOB/Address/Flight and Seat No/Passport number) I’d be surprised if 10 days hadn’t passed by the time they caught up with you.
Speaking to the track and trace guy today they only receive positives so likely the first people to contact you will be the test provider asking where it was rather than T and T
BenHouldsworthFree Member@leonthepro we used C19 for our lateral flows, very easy submission and fast results/certificate, 4 hours pre departure and 1 hour on return
BenHouldsworthFree MemberJust my experience but steer clear of Randox for PCRs, we used them as they were cheap but then saw the Dispatches show on them regarding cross contamination.
3 of our Day 2 PCRs came back negative then one sons turned up 7 hours later positive.
He’s fit as fiddle, negative lateral flows before and since plus a further PCRs us all a day later that were all negative.
Now fielding 10 calls a day from track and trace as they seem to have multiple account IDs for us all and seemingly can’t cross reference anything.
BenHouldsworthFree MemberWe just landed in Kefalonia 3 hours ago.
Smooth through Manchester airport, flight arrived 20 mins ahead of schedule, organised and quick test by Greeks on arrival in addition to those at home.
If anyone tested at the airport is positive it’s a government funded isolation hotel.
BenHouldsworthFree MemberCheers for all the advice, electrician arriving at 10am on Saturday
BenHouldsworthFree MemberThanks Alanl, correct on the 3 dimmer modules.
I wired into one of the working modules earlier and still didn’t work, it’s looking like I need a sparky.
I was hoping there was something glaring obvious but I think I’ve done as much as I can safely.
BenHouldsworthFree MemberIt’s test equipment I’m missing. All the lights in the house are on a single fuse on the consumer unit so I’m struggling as to why I’d have lost the 240v just to one set of lights?
Clearly I have no idea what I’m about.
BenHouldsworthFree MemberIt’s legit, there should be a discount code in the email that you apply at checkout that brings it down to £449, followed the link and paid for ours on Friday
BenHouldsworthFree MemberDifficult one to call, I think the elbow went out to block the gap rather than make contact, it didn’t make contact, but it was a touch of hips that caused the loss of balance.
So the questions are did Groenewegen suddenly change his line forcing Jacobsen into the barriers? watched from above he starts that move before Jacobsen is along side so possibly not.
Did Jacobsen commit to sprinting through a closing door?
Did two riders in the sprint commit to sprint winning moves at the same time and this was the result?
For me it’s the last option, it’s a horrific outcome and we can question fair play on the elbow bit but at the end of the day it’s sprinting and now and again these things happen.
Edit. Didn’t consider Beej’s infrastructure comments, they’d have still made contact but would it have been so bad??
BenHouldsworthFree MemberThe market in North Leeds is crazy at the moment.
Currently looking and houses getting offers over asking price the day they come on the market.
Don’t ask but offered 30K over asking price on best and final offers last week and still didn’t get it.
BenHouldsworthFree MemberWatch the Pizza Show on More4 for inspiration.
My top tips
1. Let your mix sit for 30 minutes before you start working on it.
2. Let it prove for at least 24 hours in the fridge before you use itBenHouldsworthFree MemberI’m field based for a medical devices company and across the course of last week most hospital trusts started restricting our access so the decision pretty much got made for us.
Looking at how insecure some peoples positions are with work I’m feeling blessed as our main product is ventilators so busier than we’ve ever been but would rather this wasn’t the reason.
On the plus side I’m leading training sessions via ZOOM and getting so proficient that when this all settles down it may be the new way of working and cut down on windscreen time, every cloud and all that.
BenHouldsworthFree MemberI ended up getting a Vassago Verhauen, True Temper platinum tubing/Paragon sliders/70 degree head angle, it’s rocket but it was VERY spendy, £1300ish frame only
BenHouldsworthFree MemberThis happened on Saturday evening, possibly afterburners shutting off after they reached altitude and speed?
BenHouldsworthFree MemberI cannot heap enough praise on Foundation Training for both recovery and strengthening.
I’ve had back issues for the last 20 years leading to two caudal epidurals around 3 years ago.
I’ve spent a fortune on osteopaths, chiropractors, yoga but this has been life changing.
https://www.foundationtraining.com/
A lot of free content on YouTube as well
BenHouldsworthFree MemberGarage, Al and Hannah are the BEST. Woodrups are great as well.
BenHouldsworthFree MemberVassag Verhauen, could take 29+ but currently on 2.25s, weights 21.5 pounds as built
BenHouldsworthFree MemberI got Vassago Verhauen last year, it’s beautiful.
It was pricey, I think it was £1000, but it’s built from TruTemper OX Platinum tubing, has Paragon dropouts and come in just shy of 21 pounds with what I’d call sensible kit
BenHouldsworthFree MemberOnly one study but oral delivery appears to have a different effect than inhaled, 4.1% increase in power output.
As others have said, not surprised
BenHouldsworthFree MemberI’ve done it twice now and the second year there were certainly more tactics on display, particularly people working through and off in pace lines, big energy savings to had doing that.
I’d also say the food stations are well enough stocked that unless you’ve got special needs (the dietary type) you can go alpine style with two bottles and a couple of emergency gels.
Ride your own pace, I entered the second feed station and saw the lead group just leaving and got really excited only to die a death from the final feed onwards, even if you train hard its still a long day and if the winds up the exposed sections will hurt.
Prepare to be bored, its not an exciting course with a few sections that look awfully similar and can make you think your mind is playing tricks.
I did 9 and a half hours last year with regular riding (longest ride 75 miles and 10,000 feet climbing) so as long as you’ve been riding and don’t go mad in the first 30 miles its doable.
As has been said tubeless is a must and in my eyes the ‘ideal’ bike would be drop bar and a 50mm tire, monstercross style.
All that said I’m singlespeeding it this year so kind of throwing all the tings I know will make it an easier day out of the window.
BenHouldsworthFree MemberCHB, has she got a speciality in mind?
I used to work in Leeds Trust and have friends in the anaesthetic dept, I’ll ask them if this is something they do and if they can help.
BenHouldsworthFree MemberI’m in Leeds and have a Bob Jackson Olympus; it’s a nice bike but no where near the quality you’ll get from Woodrups.
I’m not sure the expense of Jackson would bring you anymore bike than a Genesis Equilibrium.
BenHouldsworthFree MemberMaybe 10 years ago we saw a big cat in the field behind my mother in laws at East Keswick, North of Leeds.
Black, long and low; way to big to be a domestic cat, we were probably 150 metres away so had points of reference to gauge its size which was panther size.
