Yeah, the image on Photobucket isn’t as clear as I can see on my screen

Is the image on your screen clear enough to make out the white lettering top right? That is probably TAL’s serial number. They would be able to find out who has the trailer from that.

Me and my Mrs weren’t going to bother with stag/hen nights as living in West Yorkshire, but getting married in Inverness, and having friends spread all around the country, we felt it would be too much to ask people to travel twice – and we really wanted them at the wedding. We also had at the time a few friends who had kids, yet we would want them both to be at stag and hen nights, giving them all sorts of problems with childcare.
In the end it was made clear that we had to have a do each. Hers was a day of laser paintball thingie and some sort of pottery thing, followed by a night out a mile from the house (where everybody stayed), mine was a soggy weekend in a little wooden hut near Dalby with riding and beers!
We really tried to make sure it was as cheap as possible, and told people we would rather they came to the wedding if they could only make one trip. (More people made the wedding)!

A few years previously we had gone to a friends wedding at a time when we were really hard up, and had only been able to afford one night away. I agreed to help them transport a load of sound/lighting gear (venue didn’t supply and I had a van at the time) which meant staying the night before aswell. When the brides mother found out we had bought the tent with us she insisted on paying for a hotel room for us for the evening – was much appreciated!

Ben sure I realise. What model are they?

MTB 26 Tubeless. When I got them they were the ligher of 2 models, the other being the MTB 26 AM, though I’ve just checked the AC website for the name and noticed that they also do a lighter race version now.

    Ben, what wheels?

Them there white ones – it’s the colour that makes ’em fast!

What’s the single wheel trailer then? Never seen one of them.

This is mine. New wheels have transformed it. It was good before, but light wheels just make it fly!

    Sorry about the rubbish picture.

Ended up on the Monsal trail. My wife has hardly ridden since our little girl arrived 5 months ago, so we reckoned that 20 flat miles would be enough for her, she didn’t fancy the climb on the High Peak when she looked at the map!
Food at Hassop was very good and trail is pretty interesting what with all the tunnels etc. However, I couldn’t believe how busy it was, I don’t think I’ve ever ridden such a busy trail. The range of people and bikes was a suprise too – we passed people on hire bikes, electric bikes, cross bikes, road bikes, Bromptons and of course the blokes on a couple of grands worth of fully suspended Specialized’s with all the gear for an alpine epic and a wife on a BSO trailing along in their wake!
We had a good day out – the little one is happy as long as there is trees to look at and I keep moving fast enough! I’d definately recommend it for others with trailers. I never got a close look at any of the hire trailers, but they looked pretty resonable if your kids are old enough to sit up properly on their own. (Ours has a special insert thingie for tiny tots to give them the support they need, and I’m assuming that the hire centres don’t have these).
    Thanks for the advice folks!

Thanks for all the suggestions and advice so far. I’d forgotten about the climbs on the High Peak! Towing really does make you feel them!

Thanks for the route ideas. Thanks also for the general tourist advice! My little one is only 4 months old so maybe won’t appreciate the hidden garden thingie (but it sounds like fun to me)!

I’ve got the older version of this Snooper and am very happy with it. It does have the ability to route you around traffic which is pretty good. My original unit packed up for no good reason but snooper replaced it very quickly under warranty.

Also, the little loop at the North end of Cut Gate I would do the other way round for personal preference.

    Definately better like this.

endura singletracks a bit rubbish imno. ripped ’em up.

Mine are ace! Got shorts and 3/4’s and they’ve lasted really well I think.
Never had any popper problems either, but I do use bibs underneath rather than a poppered-in liner short, maybe that makes a difference?

Had a great wee ride on the Trans Pennine Trail. (Never thougt I’d say that)!
First ride with the wife for months and first ride with my daughter in her trailer. Also managed to break the dog – 15 miles is a long way for her little legs.

As we married in Inverness we had to have a ceilidh (it would appear to be law)! So our first dance was a waltz. Had a few lessons before just to make sure I wasn’t too embarassing! When the band had a break the first song was Elbow’s One day like this.
At least we didn’t have to worry about auditioning the band, just went on referals and you tube vids of them at festivals.

Depending on how young the kids are a windbreak is an absolute must, or something you can make one from. We’ve just come back from a weekend in the Lakes with our tiny one and had to make a windbreak and a sunshade from a Thermarest and a bit of tent we weren’t using as otherwise we couldn’t put her on the floor outside. (And that’s where she wanted to be).

We used one 3 years ago to get us our current deal and I was of this opinion

In all honesty they can’t do anything for you that you can’t do yourself.

    and this

unless you have specfic unusual needs /circumstances they probably wont help

But she was able to get a deal with the Halifax that was 0.5% better than anything they advertised, and when I spoke to them direct, they weren’t prepared to give me the same deal. It was cheaper to pay her the commission than it was to do it ourselves, and as she worked on commission, it was worth speaking to her just to see. She was also very honest with us and pointed out that our current (at the time) mortgage providers, YBS, wouldn’t pay her anything so it was worth us dealing with them directly.
Turned out to be well worth it.

It seemed pretty good at sending my little daughter off to sleep on the first week or so of her existence.
I’d also forgoten how much I enjoy the world service, though I’d rather be asleep than listenening with a screaming baby!

I was lucky to get home earlier from Edinburgh as they had suspended all of the trains

My Mrs and 7 week old weren’t so lucky – halfway through their journey from Huddersfield to Inverness the train got cancelled in Edinburgh, and there’s no replacement buses ‘cos of the mess on the roads, so the hunt for somewhere to stay, nappies, a cot, some bedding for the little one etc began!
(Thank goodness for large extended families)!
Hopefully she’ll get the rest of the way today.

We use one of those Baby Bjorn thingies and find it to be excellent. Little _mw’s head is supported by a collar that comes all the way up to the top of her head – when she’s bigger, it’ll fold down and she’ll be put in the other way around and look forwards. It is possible to get this collar tight enough that she can’t move her head at all, not very comfortable I assume, but it gives an idea of how much support is offered. The minimum size of baby is 8lb, so we had to wait a couple of weeks for her to fatten up before using it, but I guess that for many kids that means it’s suitable for use from birth.
Personally, I wouldn’t cycle with her in it, but maybe that’s a reflection on my riding ability, or lack therof!

3H25 for me too. Crossed the line with Mr Imperial. Happy enough with my time, though feel like I really should be doing better! It is a very friendly and well run event. Well done to Mr Brook and his helpers for organising it all. On a slight side note, my Mrs drove past one of the road crossings and was impressed at how well signed and marshalled it was in respect of the cars. I’m geussing that’s not the kind of feedback the organisers normally get, but felt it worth passing on.

Molgrips – Can I ask what kind of trailer you used and are those baby slings any good?

The ticket application thing has been open for a few weeks not just last night

I know, doesn’t make me any more organised though!

Gave up trying last night when the screaming baby finally fell asleep and realised that she was the only thing keeping me awake whilst I watched endless messages telling me to try again later etc. Bit miffed really, fancied seeing some of the track stuff and maybe a bit of swimming. Also realised that said Baby would need a full price ticket for some of the sessions we wanted to go to even though she wouldn’t need a seat! That can’t be correct can it? Still it does mean that should the little darling start throwing a wobbler during an event I can just turn the TV volume up, rather than have to try and find somewhere to stand where she won’t annoy people.

More a friend of friends than a good mate of my own, but read an e-mail the other day from a bloke living in Christchurch telling everyone he’s ok and helping with the rescue effort and then later on the removal of bodies.
He fled his own house in what he was wearing, along with his wife and daughter, and couldn’t return due to it being unsafe. He had been there 3 weeks, having finally moved out of temporary accomadation after his last house was destroyed in a previous quake!
He is now on his way to Japan to lead one of the NZ rescue teams!
Some people just astound me! I think I’d want to curl up in the corner with my loved ones and wait for the world to become a better place.

Rhondda valley, especially around Ystrad and Pentre. Always grey and miserable. Gives off an air of no money and no hope. Just completely depressing. And I like Wolverhampton and Dudley, friendly folk.

I had one on my Soul and the clamp was excellent – until it came unstuck from the rest of the post mid ride. Bought a cheapie from Blazing saddles? in Hebden Bridge to finish my ride, and that is awful! Was rather miffed when Wiggle just refunded me for the Sumo, rather than replace it, due to lack of stock. Would get another.

Mine is one of the older ones (130mm max travel) and I’ve a set of air U-turn Revs on it. Spend most of the time at about 110, winding them out to 130 for the more interesting descents. Absolutley love it like this.

Thought no one was going to mention Bosch’s 2 ranges until colande did.
Maybe not that relevant to the OP but my Blue Bosch has lasted just over 10 years of serious abuse – think Stainless Steel the high side of cm thick. It really is one of the best tools I’ve ever had. It’s also outlasted all of the cheaper corded and cordless ones in our workshop. However, as others have said, quality don’t come cheap. I recently enquired about the cost of a new one and (without shopping around) was rather suprised to find out that it would still be in the region of £240. It has next to none of the features that so many drills come festooned with (suits what I use it for) and I think this is why it has lasted so long. (2 speed, not variable, 1 direction, drill or hammer, keyed chuck)

Sorry, it’s no help whatsoever, but my root canal stuff was a little uncomfortable during, and no bother at all afterwards. (No need for painkillers).
The incredible pain that sent me to the Dentist in the first place though….
