I run Fox 36 Talas forks on my Prophet with a zero-stack headset. Ace. The fork crown does hit the cable-stop on the downtube though – but I’m prepared to live with that for ride advantages/handling.

Hora – basically the Blood is all about a type of geometry, not an amount of travel. HTH :-)

“it doesn’t look like there’ll be many there anyway.”

Should be about 300-400 folk (coming from all parts of the UK) there in total I reckon :-)

    Yep, Total Bike. IMO.

“I’m sure that the magazines route guides are uploaded onto this site somewhere.”

Most back issue route guides (well, from about issue 16 anyway) are in the “Trail Page” section.

Due to a combination of our old (pre-Sim) designers’ computers exploding and our Xmas hacking we haven’t got all back issue route guide PDFs I’m afraid.

We don’t put recent route guides online immediately (they appear in the Trail Guide roughly 6 months after they’ve been in the magazine).

    Turkish Delight is ace.

I live off Upper Chorlton Road BTW. I find Chorlton okay in small doses but prefer to head into the city.

There’s no “normal” MTBing to be had but I’m currently “crisping up” a little jumpspot mini-pumptrack in Chorlton Water Park :-)

Ooops! Been getting my Ragleys mixed up! :-)

Yep, it’s the Ragley Ti that I’ve been riding for issue 51 not the Blue Pig.

“no-one bar brant has actually ridden one.”

I’ve been riding one for a couple of weeks. Review will appear in next issue of Singletrack (alongside Lynskey Ridgeline LT, Whyte 19 Ti and a Van Nicholas MamTor) :-)

I’m up there this afternoon plastering the place with posters about the Classic Weekender… I might set off a bit earlier now! ;-)

FYI I’ve written up my experiences with trying 120mm shock (190mm i2i, 44mm stroke) on my Prophet in the next issue of Singletrack (on sale later next week) :-)

It’s not finished. The signposting will the very last thing to put in. Having seen pics of work-in-progress and other stuff I can reassure you that Gisburn Forest is going to be brilliant. Not long to wait now. Fingers crossed for late June / early July opening :-)

“Ege Bamyasi” is the best “starter” album IMO. I know a lot of people who have bought “Tago Mago” (after hearing all the hype about it) and have found it a bit too much hard work to get into! (i also think “Tago Mago” is 50% ace and 50% not-ace) :-)

For individual issue purchasing I *think* we get a bit more if done through STW Online Shop. We make very little on subscriptions, we make more money form people buying individual issues (wherever/however they choose to). We still want people to subscribe because it’s consistent/predictable “revenue stream” (or something!) :-)

I repeat, there’s lots of fun little snickets of singletrack in the water park.

There’s lots of fun little snickets of singletrack in the water park too. Fun place to rip around for an hour or so after work.

I chose the tune. Can are the best group of all time. “I Want More” is quite poppy for them, their other stuff is more “interesting”. The riders are guys from Cyclewise and Zyro. I did the videoing :-)

MrSparkle – I think we’ll be doing some small-scale “trial runs” of the weekend’s racing but done during one afternoon/evening sometime in the not-too-distant future (using STW staffers and helpers).. You can come along to one of those if you want :-)

90mm stem sounds a bit long for this type of bike, no?

Brown – have you tried letting some pressure out and riding it with the ProPedal on? My RP23’d Prophet rides better (on everything) with the ProPedal turned on. ProPedal is not just to counteract pedalling-bob, it’s also a bit like low-speed compression damping all the way through the shock’s stroke.

I think my “final verdict” on the Alpitude I’ve had for 6 months now will be in issue 50 of Singletrack.. Or maybe 51.. :-)

High Rollers very much depend on how sticky/hard they are. The MaxPro 60a versions aren’t very good IME. The Super Tacky ones are an excellent front tyre choice for rough/wet conditions (they are very draggy as a rear tyre).
