Try snugpak in silsden, I did work experience with them and they’re a great . Only issue might be that they only work in synthetic fill, but that might not be an issue.

Even a 5 is prettier than almost all of those (I quite like the pashley), and personally I think there are prettier dog sh*ts than a 5!

My standard suggestion is “Dog” because that’s all mine ever gets called (he’s called blue btw)
But given that this is stw, renton seems ideal after the Fenton references surely?

Mavic fit me and I’ve got very skinny feet, they are probably not for you…

nosedive- My setup is a superstar nw ring on slx tripple cranks (middle position), xt chain, xt rear mech and xt 11-40 cassette. Tbh its not unbearable, just irritating when trying to get going on a steep hill.

I’m having exactly the same issue, and I’m not even running a bottom bracket spacer! I don’t really have the chainstay clearance to move the chainring any further inboard, don’t know what to do next!

But I don’t want a new wheel mikewsmith, so I’d have to buy a new freehub, which costs money. That’s why my xt 11-40 cassette is on the way :D

At 17 I cycled from my house to the station in Keighley (2 miles along an A road), from Keighley station I got a train to Leeds, then a train to york, then a train to Edinburgh, from Edinburgh I rode the Capital Trail at a distance of 150 miles with a loaded bike. Having finished said 150 miles I then got all 3 trains back to Keighley and rode 2 miles back up an A road to my house.
    Convinced?

Not sounding good for it having that lovely curved fork :/

Whilst riding the Capital Trail earlier in the year, all of a sudden my brake lever (cable discs) felt like the cable had stretched by about an inch in one go, I duly adjusted the cable and carried on. I later noticed that the pivot for the brake lever was missing and the lever was just pivoting against the handlebar, hmmmmm.

Mavic alpine XL’s, I rode most of the dales 300 in them, and the next weekend walked up penyghent in them as my other shoes were wet, mine cost £55 from all terrain.

Drovercycles, will it have a straight fork or the lovely curved one I’ve seen in the pictures of it? The spec list has it down as a “straight blade fork”, but the pictures I’ve seen have a curved bladed one?

I’d like some xt 11 speed for my single speed Karate Monkey and a genesis vagabond if they ever officially announce it, simple pleasures.

I’ve got some mavic Alpine XL’s which are really really good so far, and at £55 they were a bargain!

Rotor stern what are the cranks on yours? You mention that your mate made them, what are they like? I like the sound of custom cranks ;)

    SLX
Without the big heavy steel rings they’re very light.

Oh god what have they done. I, being 5’5″ would’ve actually considered buying the 650+ as a smaller plus sized option to 29+ but the ally fork and lack of rear rack mounts just make this completely unsuitable for it’s actual purpose! I thought it was supposed to be freaking adventure bike.

Tbh, you could very easily swap the fork for any one of a number of 29er forks (salsa, surly would have anything cage mounts). The lack of rack mounts doesn’t stop something being used for “adventure”, I have rack mounts on my Karate Monkey, never used them and its been on far more adventures than most!

I quite like the bike, I think it’s flawed, would need a new fork asap and to be run with normal 29er wheels. But tbf, i’d swap even a steel fork out for a carbon one straight away anyway!

Could look into tandem hubs and wheels? They’re really really strong.

    “BaaaaaBQ” to lambs
    “I hate cows” to cows
“*uck off” to rabbits that try and run in front of me
And I talked to myself constantly about how I’m feeling, what’s up with my bike, the weather, the trail, basically everything.

Shifters are Shimano R505 non series hydraulic mechanical shifters

Is that a misprint or are shimano making a more budget R685?[/quote]
R505 was a mechanical disc caliper a couple of years ago, id assume it was a misprint.

About 10am I think, still pretty pleased with 26 hours for 130 miles!

Aye, twas good to ride with you for a bit Rich (I was the single speed near the back)! The route was pretty good for the most part with some “interesting” additions. In the end my body failed me at mile 100 and my mind had already gone, 30 miles on the road back to RCC with very bruised pride :(
    Next year! (With bloody gears!)

I’m in! Will be aiming for fast and light, minus the fast as I’m riding my single speed again. Tbh with it being much closer to home than usual (Scotland and Wales), in taking more risks with clothing and the weather based on the fact that if the excrement hits the air conditioning I can bail out pretty easily.
