    6ft 1 and lanky :)

It’s a 57, but a T, which is more upright and ideal for old codgers with back injury and no flexibility :)

Cheers, I do like the look of the Syncros. Will try and find both to have a play with in real life.

Stunning photos. Maybe I scrap Lofoten plans and make a beeline to Lyngen :)

    Bring on the touring season.

Thanks for all the comprehensive input, some great tips and lots to think about.

    Kiruna surely?

Kiruna is closer, but flights are a lot more expensive than Tromso from the initial search I’ve done.

I will keep the thread up to date as we decide what to do.

Kit is all bought and paid for and cost absolutely ignored :)

I’m able to self guide (have done quite a bit of touring in Swiss Alps) but considering guiding to get the best out of a few days there. Also considering trip from the likes of
Norwegian Adventure Company where you’re boat based and cruise around to a few different tours complete with guiding…

Damnit. Just as I am considering going for a gravel bike. Camino in Chilli or Tarmac?

Thanks – significant enough to involve more than 1 transfer, but manageable. Will compare rates

I just left Switzerland after 3.5 years of living in and around Zürich for Sweden.

As long as your salary will cope with the extra costs then go for it. It is an amazing country to live in, particularly for the access to mountains and nature.

I found the German side a bit sterile and the French side always appealed more when I visited.

Would be an amazing place to bring up kids.

    Tack så mycket HYD, appreciated.

Will ask over on Happyride, looks a great resource. I’m also looking forward to spring turning up again!

Aye, can’t really argue with £240 for the lot on CRC, even if the cranks are only 170mm. I will take your advice and get the proper front mech too :)

The problem is the Yeti is my only bike these days and I do plan to start commuting on it where I’ll need a higher gear but I don’t want to loose the low gears either.

Will have a think on about 1×11. Thanks for all the responses.

Thanks.. Think I am too old school to give up a front mech completely.

This looks a pretty decent deal to go 2 x 11, only thing that wouldn’t fit is front mech and hopefully my current one would do.

Have flown bikes with SAS with no problems at all. Confirm the above, no extra charge as long as below 23kg, just counts as a bag.

Definitely plan to get up to Åre so will keep you posted. The offer of Stockholm contacts would be great once I get moved and settled there. Will be in touch :)

Awesome, great suggestions – thanks all.

One final question, any suggestions for somewhere to go to later, given we’ll still likely be 30+ strong?

That’s not an x-drive, I meant my housemate has* an x-drive that I can swap with him if I want to go somewhere particularly snowy. Though Switzerland is pretty efficient at keeping roads to ski resorts passable.

I’ve driven it on a very icy car park and it’s tricky enough to get the back to step out with it’s winter tyres on.

Did you read the instruction manual to establish how the indicators work?

Still can’t find them, no mention of them in the manual!

Sorry for the delay in replying – work got a bit busy and then I was driving :)

I do ski, but luckily my housemate had an x-drive that I can trade..

I’m back. Didn’t quite manage to share any pics during the trip, but made it safely home last Sunday.

It was an incredible week, such an amazing country. Everybody was so welcoming, the wild camping was fantastic and the trails amazing. I mainly stuck to the road, with the occasional bit of off road. Definitely want to return with more time and my own bike and explore some more pistes with less time pressure.

Route was basically Casablanca – Azrou – Erfoud – Merzouga – Ouarzazate – Aït Benhaddou – Telouet – Marrakesh – Essaouira – Casablanca

1650km in 7 days in the end, can’t wait to return.

    A few photos:

Thank you all for the input – I’ll try and post a couple of pics during the week.
