Oxalic acid did indeed do the trick, thanks all. This is after 2 passes with medium strength, might give it one more pass.

    Cheers All.

I’ve removed the doors for cleaning Reeksy, so will ensure better alignment of screw heads when I refit ;)

Thanks for all the replies, will do some further reading but sounds like Beam 2 and some 1s plus a Move 2 will tick all the boxes. I guess I see how the bass is before going for a sub too.

Well I bought it. It’s a lot of fun to ride and way more nimble that I expected. I’ve never ridden a Steps ebike and it feels a but less industrial than a Bosch that I’ve tried previously. I like that the Alfine automatically moves to 4th gear when you come to a stop.

The turning circle will take some getting used to and you do need to turn a bit earlier than a normal bike but I’m very happy so far with the short spin home. Happily flies along at 25 km/h, it will be quicker than the car for nigh on all journeys we do locally.

Couple of pics from last night – it certainly makes you smile.

Thanks for the input, I’m off to see it now.

It’s a 10km ride back home if I buy it so I’ll  report back how I get on with the learning curve!

LMTTM: The bike’s in Hässelby, north of Stockholm.

Also here to recommend what I have in true STW fashion.

    Henry

    Henry the Yorkiepoo.

Smaller than the brief but he’s hardy and will happily join on long hikes, whilst also being content with a few short walks a day.

A Yorkshire Terrier Poodle cross, so doesn’t shed but does need hair cuts every few months. Super temperament, though has taken some training to stop barking. Highly food motivated which helps with the training.

If you’re staying in Rosscarbery you must eat at O’Callaghan Walshes. You’ll likely need to book well in advance. Also check out Glandore for one of the most picture perfect harbours in Ireland. Great smoked salmon in Union Hall (where they filmed a lot of War of the Buttons).

Prison Cove for a dip :)

Thanks for the comments and the suggestions. I bit the bullet in the end and after some searching managed to find a local smith who was up for drilling titanium and then fitted some rivuts myself = aesthetics saved…

Thanks for the tips so far. I will definitely take a look at Nazare but my surfing skills are minimal, so I will be in the tiny waves on one of the huge beginner boards :)

I’ll have a Spaniard accompanying me so that should help on the language.

Cheers Miles, I mailed Liv and got a reply within 2 minutes with the paint code (Pantone 5507 C if anyone finds this post in a search in future).

I ordered a touch paint stick from these guys: https://www.bodicraftsupplies.co.uk/ which was shipped the same day. Should make it look a bit more shiny for the gf for Christmas.

    Cheers all

What don’t you ever see elehpants hiding in trees? Because they’re good at it.

How do elephants hide in cherry trees? They paint their balls red.

What’s the loudest noise in the jungle? Giraffes eating cherries…..

CARTER U.S.M. About 30 years ago, somewhere in Birmingham. I was 14 with my best mate, my Dad was chaperone, think he enjoyed it equally.

    It was mint.

Totally doable, I’ve driven from Rotterdam to Stockholm in a day, making use of the Puttgarden – Rødby ferry and Oresund bridge. It is a pretty special way to arrive into Sweden.

Also worth considering the Travemünde – Trelleborg ferry to cut out a lot of driving, though it doesn’t really save time.

What a fantastic idea OP, this is truly STW at its best.

A postcard will be on its way from Sweden this weekend.

    Mine’s a Faran 1, in 650b gravel mode and 700c winter..

Not great pics, but it’s a fantastic bike. I’m also thinking of getting a Secan too.

Following. I need to replace an ancient Gore Phantom which was the Goldilocks for me, but the new model has removable arms instead of the pit zips that my old one has. Problem is the old one is falling apart at the seams (after over a decade of heavy use, it owes me absolutely nothing).

I should add, I have the Galiber Mistral but it’s nowhere near as warm as my old Phantom.

Thanks for the replies, nothing drilled and will try and find an external routed post with the cables leaving the post at near the bottom at least. The now defunct reverb had the cables all the way to the saddle which was annoying and frankly ugly.

First shakedown after upgrading to 1×11 and feels like it has a new lease of life. Obligatory photo for Chopper:

Waiting and interested to see how it turns out.

    @Willard
and @Howsyourdad1, plenty of snow at Romme Alpin in Dalarna at the weekend, though -20°C on Saturday made for cold skiing. Where are you guys?

Only -10 in Stockholm this morning on the cycle to work.

This thread inspired me to finally sort it out and get the mtb out of the shed for the first time this year last night.

Had a fab ride in the snow doing my local loop.

Thanks for the nudge, will try and keep it up now.

I had the first outing this weekend with my new Nemo Hornet 2p, and was surprised by how much room it had, easily long enough for you.

Worth looking at the Hornet 1p, if it’s a long as the 2p.

    Another fence here.

A number of firsts for me, including using concrete and a table saw. Pretty happy with the result, just the gate to go.

Thanks for the input all. Agree a 2x set up would suit me best, but I’ll be sticking with 1x as I don’t want to shell out for all the kit needed. I do like the simplicity of 1x and it’s only when on trailer duty I struggle.

Will try a 40 for the next outing and see how I get on.

Front wheel off and hang by the handlebars?

It’s what I’ve opted for due to similar issue with vertical space due to an overcrowded shed..

    Another vote for triggers.

My 5 year old didn’t have the strength to twist the gripshift on his new Isla (handed down from older son), even after cleaning it & new cables, etc.

Upgraded to an X3 7 speed shifter and no looking back:

To quote him verbatum “It’s like a new bike” :D

Thanks for the suggestions, and a good point on the ground anchor. I guess I can absolutely drill into the concrete base.

I’m reluctant to store bikes out of the shed due to security concerns, but will take a look.

    Cheers all
