I need to man up, seeing those above

Riding at the moment with a cracked rib, but nothing like what you’re going through!

as I’m in the same boat, last week knackered a rib, riding tonight; although going by the wind something might fall on my head..

So how comes scampers is lighter? I was hoping the xt cassette was going to be lighter, like scampers, as my cassette is 450g

    Good effort though….

Quick hi-jack; have any of you experienced chainsuck with this frame? A mate is looking at one, but having just had a bit of chainsuck with his steel 456 he’s just wondering if the c456 suffers it???

Hey great to hear people loving it, even though I’ve decided not to ride tonight as planned, due to my ribs still hurting I’m not down in the dumps about it – mind you I’ll be seeing my friend for coffee and to talk bollox about bikes :-)

Looking forward to next week already…

I follow MCN I find it great for motogp (and others) updates, especially when at a highland games meeting and unable to watch.

I was also skeptical at first…. Think I’ll add some of the above

I’m using rocket rons at the moment and find them ok, also cheap at on-one

How about making the up esculator go down, but slow enough so you can walk up against it  but then it’d be cheaper just to put in stairs

Dunno, if it’s been said, but low fat food is not necessarily healthy.

I thought the deliverence descent wasnt all that good, very rocky and quite a tough climb out.

It’s good we’re different; I love deliverence, and as for the climb out, yes tis a bit so so but then we’ve just descended from the mast; so a kind of reverse payback.

My mate has a steel 456 and loves it and is now considering the c456. The way I look at is this, upgrading bits from slx is easier than forks, and the revs are great

    .. and because of the

black anodised world we live in!

I went for orange and white like so:

and since that photo, the seat post and bars are now white with black superstar grips with orange collar\end caps.

I really must take another photo

IF it were me then it’d be the c456 coz I currently have a steel bike and haven’t had a carbon one.

Also currently I have slx/revs 140mm and find them great

How long have you got – John O’Groats to Land’s End??

I’ve got Revs 140mm on mine but they came off my old bike. If I was having to buy it’d probably be Sektors 110-150(?), my friend has these and they seem excellent. The u-turn allows different frame choice in the future as well…

elfin – No seriously, they really aren’t, no matter how many times you tell yourself it’s an ‘investment’.

I’m not saying they’re an investment or not; but isn’t that statement above you saying they’re not an investment..?

Hmm, glad I saw this thread… I was quoted £450 for a tow bar with dual electrics, which funnily enough I didn’t think too bad, but looking at what other people are spending I best shop around.

Is there a Genesis bike that has the kit you want?

I did it the other way round; bought an Abyss (slx+140mm revs with 20mm axle) for £1000 in 2009 mind (I notice they’re up to £1250 8O ) Then this year on the scheme have bought a Prince Albert frame – bingo the steel framed bike I wanted for a net cost of £680

I remember when I worked for DEC, a colleague handed in his notice saying he was going to Novell – he was off the premises within the hour having been accompanied in the office for that hour. He got all pay\holiday\notice period due to him, just wasn’t allowed in the office.

Nope, bang on average for me 120/80; some would say I’m fit, but I’m not anywhere near as fit as I should\want to be, resting heart rate though is 40, but maybe genetics has more to do with that…

While i’m here where is the descent in that fith pic of yours?

I’ll have to have a think about that one, I’ve got other pics to remind me…..

fergal – yeah tis a bit loose :-)

probably not the best descent but went off the last peak down to the gate, how steep is that grass!.

I take it that was down the back towards Eildon village as it were?? the grass is very steep, I had trouble running down that once!!

Anyway the best descent is to look at the second picture I posted; you see the track just starting on the top of the hill left of centre, well take that until you hit the fork, above the brown circle bit, take the right fork and join that track that contours around the left hand side of the hill, watch our for the water bars but that is a lovely descent. At the end you can then sort of double back on yourself and head up back up the hill on the other side of the picture and then take the steep path down to the corner gate like you already did.

wonny j – glad to see you enjoyed the ride although you got lost; I presume you made it back to the top for the final descent into Halterburn ford?

Fergal – I really must make the effort to get to The Schill

Funnily enough I’m thinking of putting white bars on my bike and found these, they come with stem and grips for £40ish

They’re Outlander D31 Eight – anyone know what they’re like?
