Very informative thread on what will happen to EU nationals status in the event of a no deal. Looks like i might have to book a one way flight for me and the mrs in march…

If politicians were experts in their fields then pay would not need to be capped but second jobs should be restricted. Capping salaries often smacks of jealousy and if I can’t have it no one can sentiments..

Jealousy? Horse s&€t. I’m old school, politics should be a calling not a career. The whole argument of it’ll prevent talented people becoming MPs is nonsense because you should only be one if you care enough about society and making a difference.

Plus anyone that cant live on £40k (plus expenses) probably shouldn’t be in charge of making big decisions

Sure, as long as I can see the increase going to the NHS, education, welfare and not funding tax cuts for companies and the rich.

The tax loop hole thing needs sorted. Theres enough russian billionaires in london and enough billion pound companies in the UK that taxing them would easily fix a lot of problems. If you need a top up I’ll happily pay an extra £50 pm in tax.

Also, while we are at it. How about –

Politician pay topped at £40k (most have second jobs anyway)

Tax second homes out of existence

    Tax cigs out of existance

    Minimum price for alcohol

    Legalise cannabis

Just been reading that the legislation for the referendum stated that the result couldnt be over turned if cheating was involved. If that’s true then it goes to show how much influence was put on it at that stage.

Cbd oil. Seriously, the impact it’s had on me is astounding (Seriously want cannabis legalised now). A couple of drops before I go to bed and I sleep like a baby.

Why aren’t the TUC tearing Jeremy Torybn a new arsehole?

Because trade unions are as corrupt as politicians.

    Food –

South america – chilli con carne. Honestly my favourite meal of all time.

Eastern europe – buckwheat (they eat it in almost every meal, it’s what makes russian so strong and imposing) curd cheese, beetrout soup and Cepelinai.

North america – best junk food ever.

    Scenery –

I live in NI. Nuff said. Norway a close second.

    Culture –

All of the Nordic countries. China has some amazing history but all cultural values have been destroyed.

Thanks everyone, I’ll take a look at copilot and tomtom (think ford uses tomtom in their satnav but I’m sure the app is better than the crap ford installs).

Google maps would be perfect but it doesn’t give speed limits, thats kind of a must for me.

This must be the only protest march that w€€k stain Corbin isn’t all over like a cheap suit.

Wish I could have attended myself waving british passport with an EU flag sticker on it. Don’t think it’ll make one ounce of a difference sadly.

I really can’t see why Corbyn isn’t voting to protect worker’s rights.

Simple, he’s a protest politician who has no interest in power so he’s letting the Tories run wild so he can shout on about what a shame it is, typical tories etc without actually doing anything about it.

Let the right wing nutters make everyone worse off so he can organise… a march or something.

Open university courses. Started about 10 years ago and have one degree (astronomy) and 3/4 way through a second degree. The beauty of the OU is tgat you can study any random course you want and it’ll all contribute to their open degree. The degree isnt the end point for me, I just like studying.

Didn’t mean for that last post to sound a bit anti english. The same would probably apply to us lot in NI except we are too busy hating each other

Coming from NI I know fine well what it’s like to be ruled by a bunch of lunitics. The difference between growing up in the 80s vs now? The internet.

Specifically, social media. The ignorant masses is an invalid arguement, people have lots of information flying at them everyday and sadly most people only follow or engage with people that share their views. If you’re a work class lad and are friends with your achool mates, all it takes is a few of them to be ukipy and thats what fills up your feed every day.

That and people love a good “hate the foreigner” session when the going gets tough. Especially you english (sorry).

Also, totally agree with the inbred politics thing. I was loosely involved with a party in my 20s and it was simple career progression – uni>work for politician>politician. No actually working a proper job, getting real life experience. They decide around 17 or 18 they want to be a politician and thats it.

As someone who voted remain and lives in NI… I’m all for this.

Plus, since a tory mp told an snp MP to go kill himself yesterday during the debate… tories are playing right into the SNPs hands.

the vast majority of leave voters still think brexit is a good idea, literally millions of people still think that we will be better off outside the EU.

most leave voters still hate foreigners (probably even more than before) and live in the glory years of WW2.

Until this mentality changes (mainly in england as thats where it’ll be won or lost) it will always be a tight race between leave and remain.

The youth vote needs mobilised and I think another EU ref could do it. Especially after the youth vote won the abortion ref in RoI

As pointed out above, plenty of other religious and political bodies with similar views that people like yourself never level anything like the same level of vitriolic and mysoginistic abuse against.

Who has the same views on –

    Hating catholic religion,

    Hating the republic of lreland,

    homosexuality

    how old the earth is

    Genuinely keen to know.

S’funny – all the abusive, intolerant and mysoginistic abuse on the thread so far seems to have been levelled against the daughter of a policeman who was herself blown up by the IRA as a child.

You might want to check who the ‘hate machine’ descriptor really fits

Not really. Having lived through 40 years of the DUP I can firmly say that their tactics are fear, division and hate. Their long standing views on the catholic religion, republic of lreland, homosexuality and even how old the earth is, puts them in the hate machine category.

You make a good point about her past. Events have led to her politics being driven by her hate and anger. Stark contrast to peter Robinson whose politics was driven by ambition which lead to NI actually having a government.

At least the mainland is being introduced to the DUP hate machine. I guess that’s one of the benefits of brexit, NI doesn’t suffer on it’s own anymore.

It is, you got called out. Suck it up.

Don’t drive on sand unless you have the vehicle to do so which you clearly don’t.

    Oh my.

I’ll be sure to pass on all your excellent advice to the relevant authorities 🤗

I’d be reluctant to venture into sand unless it was wet and hardpack in my landy never mind a car. -4wd in soft sand with stock landies tires on just means you dig in at all 4 corners

As above if you are not on low profiles air down get more contact patch

Deploy sand boards, carpet /floor mats out the car under the drive wheels

    Some good advice there, thanks.

Almost all the main beaches on the north coast are drive on and national trust (hence expecting staff to be there as they usually want your ££ for access) so save the judgementals ;)

The truck was 4WD so could work its way out. Have a feeling RAC probably made a few quid from helping others after we left. Would probably still be there if I was to wait for this fictional farmer as well.

I’ve had a few relatives go through it, like others say get advice. If you have an mp/msp/mla thats anti tory go to them as their staff might help you with it and will also be good back up.

Get letters/statements from everyone that comes in contact with your daughter. Go to a local charity for her disability and see if they have anyone that is working with the PIP scum bags, get them aware of your case as they’ll also be useful back up.

It’s a horrible thing people are going through but sadly most of the public dont care
