Just in case anyone is reading this and wonders if these are gluten free, they aren’t!

No gluten containing ingredients, but if you go on the website there is a may contain disclaimer.

I have 3 packets (free when you order from Condor cycles) that I can’t eat!

Quick thread revival for the S3 Evo 27.5 does anyone know if could fit a 170 or even 200 brand X dropper am guessing the kink in seat tube limits things a bit any advice helpful

    Thanks

I have the specialized 160mm dropper installed in my 2019 Evo Pro, a mate has the OneUp components dropper installed in his standard Evo set at 180mm, think its pretty slammed in the seat tube.

    I’d use anyone bar Slik

    Any reasons why?

Mission Workshop Monty for me – 21L, fits my work clothes/shoes, lunch, laptop and tools.

Pretty solid when you have it on and doesn’t swing about.

Used it in some lovely Irish downpours and everything inside has remained bone dry.

If you need bigger then they do the Rummy which is 27L.

Is a tad pricey though, but I use it everyday for work. It also gets used as a weekend bag for trips away.

Ah Rotwild, one of our group had one when we were 15/16.

Everyone else had hardtails, it was like riding a sofa down hill!

I commute on a Day One 10 (the yellow one)

It’s great, can spin it up to speed quickly and it will shift when you want it to.

My commute is pretty flat (Dublin City centre) so not sure what it would be like on a hilly commute!

I upgraded the cranks (originals were recalled) and tyres and also the mudguards (originals were flimsy and broke)

You need to keep an eye on the hubs (cup and cone, loose bearings) but as long as you keep them nipped up and give them a grease they are fine.

Definitely start with the LSC/HSC wound all the way off.

    WTB verdict or verdict wet.

High grip light casing for the front.

Think someone mentioned on here that the WTB light is in-between an EXO+ and DoubleDown in terms of casing.

Bit hefty but doesn’t bother me.

Ran a Hillbilly Grid Trail before and the WTB is much more grippier and supportive.

    So, christened the link yesterday.

Set it up with 20 extra psi to get 30% sag (240psi vs 220psi – I’m about 88kg)

Also dialled in the original JTech compression/rebound settings and removed the 8000mm3 spacer.

I’ll be honest on the first trail I was a little underwhelmed. The bike felt a little loose and seemed to be limited on traction. The bike also didn’t seem to pop anymore and felt a bit lethargic.

I decided to completely open the LSC and only run a couple of clicks of rebound……

This was now a completely different bike – grip for days, the pop was back and i felt more in control.

Used pretty much all of the available travel (bout 5mm left by looking at the O-ring)

Was riding a mix of steep rooty/rocky trails and man made trail centre stuff (Ticknock, Dublin)

Need to hit some big jumps/drops before
I think about adding a spacer back in.

Definitely recommend the link to anyone thinking about it. Only issue now is the rear suspension is outclassing the front!

A service for the 36s should help that!

    SJ Pivot Diagram

This must be for the alloy version of the frame as my seat stay pivots are different.

    beer247

Jesus, that was some effort to install!

If you do buy one make sure to look at the exploded pivot diagram on Specialized website.

Some of the top hat washers go in the opposite way you would think, and even if you lay everything out carefully it can still go wrong.

The seat stay pivots are a PITA, took a lot of patience to get everything lined up!

First ride tomorrow, will report back.

Link was ordered on Monday and turned up today in Dublin……from the west coast of America!

At least you UK guys don’t have to pay import tax (Cascade have a UK office)

I’ve pulled the volume spacer out and will install the link and report back.

mbr write similar stuff to Guy in their review. Maybe Spesh didn’t lay on enough cake at the launch…

Or they laid on too much cake, and the flex stays couldn’t take it!

Well, I will be (hopefully) taking mine to Morzine in 2021. All my mates will be on DH bikes…

I’ve got a Cascade link on the way and can remove the spacer from the TTX air to get 55mm stroke. Should = 160mm travel at the rear.

Throw a 160mm airshaft and luftkappe in the 36s and should be good to go!

This stumpy is too close to the Enduro for me, as someone whos looking at a short travel FS or agro hardtail Id love to see those angles but on a 130/120 bike.

I think the issue is that the “aggro” geometry puts you in a position where you need more than 130mm/120mm of travel…..

There was a general consensus in reviews that the bike was limited by 140mm of travel (29er version)

Think I’ll stick with my 2019 Evo Pro.

I reckon the Casacade link would make the suspension kinematic pretty similar to the 2021 frame.

    £300 vs £3000!

2700 is a lot to pay for 20mm extra reach, a taller headtube and steeper seat angle!

Oh and the random bladder thing for the downtube!

I’m running mine at about 19psi at the moment, doesn’t seem to squirm or fold in corners.

I weigh about 85kg at the moment though.

Paired with a Judge out back in Tough High Grip flavour at 21psi

    Grippy as f&@k

Great in mud as well as wet root & rock.

Tough as well if you don’t mind the weight penalty.

I’m running the TCS light High Grip.

I had an Inline on my Stumpy Evo and it worked really well, shame the bike was too small for me. Its worth looking at the cascade links to fix some of the linearity and wallowing they are known for, I wouldn’t be putting a coil on it.

I’m running the stock DHX2 at the moment with a progressive spring – Spring is still too light for my weight at 85kg (running the 510-600lbs spring) So spend far too much time in the midstroke unless i prop it up with LSC. Doesn’t bottom out anymore though!

I looked at the Cascade link, but factoring in postage/import costs and a new spring i thought i may as well buy a new shock,

plus i save about 400g in weight with an air shock!

I’m moving towards the TTX air as i think it will have the most similar feel to the coil, plus they make a special air can to suit the Stumpjumper.

I’d second Sir HC on the Formula Cura, except to point out that they can be had for 125 Euro an end for the 4-pots, or closer to 90 euro an end for the 2 pots, making them an absolute bargain.

    Where is this fantastical shop?

    I can’t find the Cura4s for less than 134euro!

I’ve interviewed a couple of people via video call recently, both were wearing suits.

Interviewing for positions at an engineering consultancy

I wouldn’t think any less of them for wearing a t-shirt, open necked shirt etc.

    Got one, love it

Ragged it for nearly 12 months – if you look after it (i.e clean it once in a while and check pivot bolt torque) there should be no creaks or pivot bearings wearing prematurely.

I use one of the Cane Creek Progressive Springs and that deals with the linear nature of the frame.

Run it in low position and only get the odd pedal strike – the low BB makes it an absolute hooligan in corners

Its the perfect DHers trail bike!

I’ve never had an issue with climbing either, its like most 29ers, get it up to speed and it flys

The only reason i would move it on is that fashion dictates that i should be on a bike with a longer reach measurement……I just can’t bring myself to do it!

    I spoke to her yesterday.

She still suggested meeting (tonight) to chat as “friends” but understands if I don’t want to.

I think that the best thing for the both of us is no more contact.

    It’s time to move on.

After reading all the replies on this thread, (especially Simon’s) I’ve realized how self-centered i’ve become.

From this point on, i will leave her alone.

    Thanks for listening.

To summarise…….. She once said she wanted you to make her a cup of tea but in the time it has taken you to boil the kettle and add the milk (ie get your life together) SHE HAS DECIDED THAT SHE NO LONGER WANTS A CUP OF TEA.

SHE NO LONGER WANTS TEA!!! You have NO RIGHT to keep pestering her and tell her to “just think it over.”

She HAS thought it over AND SHE DOESN’T WANT ANY MORE OF YOUR TEA.

Respect her decision and stay away. This is like really basic Year 7 Personal Development stuff here. You DO NOT have the right to make her feel guilty or that she has “made the wrong decision.” Moreover, you have the RESPONSIBILITY to act like an ADULT and not contact her again.

Jesus! I have a 10 year-old daughter sitting on the sofa opposite me. Is she really gonna have to deal with “men” who don’t understand what the word “NO” means?

and for the record….. The word “NO” can be expressed in a number of ways…. You don’t actually need to hear the word “NOOOOOOOOOOO” screamed at full volume to understand that humans are sentient beings and can make their own decisions, WITHOUT BEING PRESSURED.

STAY AWAY. JUST STAY AWAY. That would prove how much of a man you are.

I actually take offence from this. I know she has made a decision, i am respecting that – i have my own thoughts on the matter, but wont vocalize them to her any further.

She is the one that suggested we meet up this week, not me.

    As i mentioned above – i don’t think its a good idea.

She has made a decision and if she changes her mind (as people sometimes do) she knows where i am.

So, she reiterated that she still wants to be friends and we can meet this week to chat.

I just get the impression that she’s not completely convinced shes made the right decision.

I know i’m going against everything that people are saying above, but if she lets me i would give it another chance.

Consider this. Why did you dump her? Why do you now want her back? Because you love her or because you’ve not got your end away for four months and she’s a known quantity?

Reading between the lines here it sounds like perhaps she’s more into you than you are her, hence her repeatedly coming back to talk to you after you’ve sacked her off. Except you’ve done it once too often and now she’s protecting herself from being hurt yet again.

I do love her but i made a snap decision – i was under a lot of pressure from work at the time and was neglecting my relationship and she got frustrated which led to arguments about stupid stuff.

I decided to protect myself – i should have really thought about it a lot harder.

I got divorced in 2018 so have always been wary of relationships.

I know this is all sound advice.

She still wants to be friends – this is a bad idea i think.

I used a 10mm allen key and a small adjustable, but R3Pro tool looks like just the ticket!

Its another “why didn’t i think of that?” product!.

Gave the pistons a good clean with string soaked in IPA (good tip timbog160) and spent some time pushing each piston in and out.

Still some rubbing but a marked improvement over how they were.

I got a little impatient and maybe didn’t exercise one as much as the others….

I’m on 35c Schwalbe G-One Speeds – Can’t remember the last time i sliced a tyre, if ever!

They are on a Reilly Spectre so plenty of clearance which may not be the case for you?

Any reason for using 25/28mm tyres or can you go wider?

    beer247

Oh, and if you’re ever gonna bleed them yourself i recommend the Hope bleed kit.

The cup that screws onto the lever reservoir makes things much easier and less messy, especially for a clumsy idiot like me.

    beer247

+1 for making sure Hopes are set up correctly.

Take time to center the caliper and ensure the pistons are moving equally.

I’m now on Code RSCs and they have the controlled feel of Hopes but with slightly more bite.

One negative of the Hopes was riding glove less – the dimpled lever seemed to dig into my fingers if i was slamming the anchors on during a fast descent! (looking at you Revolution Bike Park!)

I’ve had a Specialized Stumpjumper Evo Pro for the last 12 months and the S3 size is just a tad too small at 6ft 2.

I’m actually in Dublin now, not lived in Chorlton for bout 3 years!

Its a shame that Clayton Vale was never really maintained – there were some decent enough sections and you could get “creative” with some of the lines!

I guess it would just get trashed by scrotes though.

Ah, my stomping ground for a few years – used to blast over to Kenworthy woods and ride the single track, can’t remember any jumps though?

Used to also sprint down the track that led from the foot bridge towards Chorlton AFC (past the water treatment building)it was flat, but fun if you peddled hard enough.

Tried to cut some tracks into Chorlton Ees, but abandoned pretty soon!

You haven’t lived until you’ve been propositioned by a guy in his late 40s pretending to walk his dog!
