Yes I have, but I have bought exactly the same frame again. I have done far worse to steel and ali frames.

federalski, the two guys (Iain, bro in law and Martin) are both from the mighty ‘gramme and Campbell, who is there current manager was their bass player.

I am afraid the ‘gramme has sailed, perhaps you should check out “The Unwinding Hours”, this is Iain and Craig B’s (former gramme front man) project, you may well find it up your street, albeit a bit quieter, less shouty street!

Well chuffed for them all, Iain (bearded synth non hat one) has been plugging away for years and finally they have got somewhere.

Get to see them for free too!

Wow, looks like I am not alone! Dr p, servicing is as easy as removing large plastic seal from drive side, undoing and removing disc side cone nuts and sliding the whole thing out of its shell, clean, dunk in auto transmission fluid overnight, grease and refit, will post instructions of I find them.

I love the idea of a light 3 speed too, one thing that did catch my eye a while back was the mountain drive two speed crank, bit pricey though http://www.kinetics.org.uk/html/mountain_drive.html

Mmmm, had a google but could not see anything, they are all used frames though.

I love those frames, but not sure it is worth the risk….

Holy plus fours! What barrel of crap have I unearthed here! I had no idea that I was stepping into a world I know so little about.

Maybe I will just step away quietly.

Totally agree with the comment about pure soap flakes, this works wonders for breathability. The other thing that is really important is to NOT use fabric conditioner, this blocks all of the “pores” in the fabric.

I would never use it anyway, but if you normally do, make sure you clean it all out of the drawer before using with breathables.

Tumble drying is a great way of restoring waterproofing as well.

I like the idea of linking it with a school, as I work at the local secondary school. Could defiantly be worth a thought, although I am currently in talks with a local club about joining with them as there are some members who also want to develop the proper Mtb skills side of things.

Thanks again, wow, besides alpins comment, that was all useful stuff.

Will have a look again at the BC go ride thing, I didn’t really want to go down a earning badges, type of route, but I guess without some kind of structure and progression the group could get a bit lost and it would not hurt to have some official backing behind it. Only issue is that it could clash with what is set up already, but I know they are all CX and racing, rather than proper mountain bike skills.

Thanks Scapegoat, I will make an effort to contact him.

Thanks for the advice, andy7t2, I like the idea of just getting out and riding, but it is not worth the risk with kids nowadays, if something went wrong then I would be toast. Also fancy doing it a bit more professionally to see if there is a future career in there somewhere.

davesmate, good advice, thank you, I think I have found the place, is it http://www.mountainbikeinstruction.co.uk/csleader.asp ? they are based in Bolton, I have emailed them already, so may be a good place to start.

I got in touch with British cycling, problem is they are all about racing, I am totally not into that, I want to get kids into riding properly, there are loads of BC folks around here, but it all appears to be focused on races.

I am based in Holmfirth, I know there are tones of kids who might want to come along.

Huzzah! Who is that idiot on the road bike?

Nice, but I prefer the one that goes down, down, down, down, ice cream, down, pub, down, down, pie shop, down, down, pub.

Don’t mind a down, along, down, along, down, pint, down, along, ice cream, pie shop, bike shop, pint either.

Just found out I won’t have the car, so might only be able to come along if near a station or a lift is available from Holmfirth.

Nice to see you are still doing the pootles, I came along once on a Kona cx bike and broke my front wheel, it was snowy.

I have another cx bike now, wheel isn’t broken yet, so might come along, see if I can repeat it.

    So, what is the route?

Just got some of these, Fakeleys?.

$17 for glasses with prescription inserts? They came today and I can’t believe how good they are. Having seen a prescription glasses review in a different mag, someone is seriously taking the pee.

billysugger, I am in Holmfirth, thousands of excellent cheeky miles of stuff to ride, a bunch meet up on a Thursday night for a ride from the coop there.

But, I am always up for a ride, even got some days off in the week to do just that. Drop me a mail to r a dresser at g mail dot com.

That is school boy science, air con reduces fuel efficiency, so just turn it off if you want to save fuel, or like me, don’t have it at all.

    Pah!

If the carbon frame failed and there was no one there on a heavy skinny tubed steel 29er to comment about how “steel is real, man”, does it still fail?

In response to the original question of “how good is llandegla?”, it is not good at all. It’s crap.

Glad I am not the only one! Although I am a bit of a trail centre enemy, but will ride them if I am nearby. Glentress etc are good fun & well thought out, blandeglla is boring and too wide. Fact.

Cool beans everyone, we turn up in Holmfirth pubs covered in crap and get no problems at all, think they are used to us.

MT, that’s why we go to one of the riders houses, Meltham pubs are not nice.

Liking the idea of a day ride, there could be quite a crowd. Saturday will suit me best, but will have to be after April now, just come back from Skiing, then off camping soon and then off to Paris, suprised I have not been kicked out yet, so I need to hedge my bets.

We usually meet at 6:30 in the big coop car park, I know it is a bit early, but allows time for beer, we usually go the box office bar, round that back of the Picturedrome, they have free pork pies with every pint and they are VERY good ones, locally made.

Failing that we can be found in Herveys, but there are no pies there, only pork scratchings. (washes mouth out!)

Sometimes we meet in Meltham at one of the riders houses, he then provides the beers!
