I would like to point out the irony in that your burglar alarm was the very thing which caused your bike to be stolen. :-)

Has the last descent on Climachx been re-opened yet?
Last time I went it was closed due to tree felling, so the descent was all on fireroad and crappy JCB ruts.
It’s still more entertaining than the Mach 123 routes IMO.
NyA is definitely worth a look, especially if you haven’t been there.

I also have huge praise for CRC.
After buying a new bike, and it subsequently breaking after 2 weeks, they offered me a refund or an additional discount off another bike.
Unexpected freebies, and helpful staff who actually seem to give a toss.
    Result.

Mine comes in at 28lbs with mostly XT and XTR bits.
I love it- it felt right from day 1, and I use it for everything.

Considering the shock alone is £379, it looks like good very good value to me.
Apparently it’s replacement, the Tanuki, doesn’t use scandium tubing either.

Years ago, before I was wise, I was attempting to light a woodburning stove. Unfortunately all the wood was wet, so I had the brainwave of throwing in some petrol (I had only ever had fun experiences with petrol up to this point).
After pouring in 1/2 litre of petrol, staying low, I gingerly held in a lit match at arms length.
I was literally thrown across the room by the force of the explosion, the room filled up with soot and there were huge flames coming from the chimney. It wasn’t even my house.
    You live and learn. :-)

Are you sure they have been placed there as a deliberate obstruction?
Perhaps the landowner has been clearing/maintaining bridleway clearance etc. with the intention of collecting them up later?

My wee man has the 20″ carrera- 7 speed, it feels light and he gets on well with it, and it’s shiney blue!

If you want to improve your fitness, just use your mountain bike.
I commute a hilly 12 miles each way on my full sus everyday, but I do have the option of taking some proper off road trails most of the way.

I get this after long runs.
Ibuprofen before bed helps as it relaxes the muscles.

I have managed to contain myself and not be a ‘PITA’ yet.
When you buy a bike from CRC, they come with a pre-ticked check list, in a larger than usual CRC bike box, even with wheels attached.
Besides straightening the bars and fitting pedals, they are supposed to be ready to go.
    I’ll just wait longer- I wasn’t intending to start a CRC rant…

I’ve had a few full sussers over the years and never had issues with pivot bolts coming loose, especially in that length of time.
I don’t see how that should be considered routine maintenance, when it was only ridden a couple of times from new.
Do people honestly check all their pivot bolts before, and perhaps during every ride, on the off chance one has become loose?

The bike itself could also be filled with compost, and used to grow strawberries.
