I do a hilly 12 miles each way every day.
I get to work in a much better mood than I used to after sitting in traffic.
All I can add is, “do it, do it!”.

I am riding road a lot more.

You took up road riding because dh is too dangerous?

Yeah- I feel more in control on the road, even at 30-40mph+, due to more predictable terrain.
I still ride trail centres etc., but on DH tracks I can’t help feeling like I’m seriously holding back- so the enjoyment isn’t there anymore. :(

I also find I am Mr Angry more than usual in my commutes…. :(

I used to ‘shred the gnar’ for years……
A few months ago, my brother who was a serious skater (and mtb rider), hit his head hard in a (skateboard) crash.
Skaters don’t wear lids, and he was hospitalised for months with a fractured skull.
He hasn’t been the same since- hasn’t been able to blink, hasn’t been able to smell anything, and generally hasn’t been his old self. :-(

Since his accident, I have been more conscious of the risks of DH, of his symptoms, and less likely to take risks.
    I am riding road a lot more…..

I had love film for a while, but found it crap after a while.
There appears to be very few newer films, and choices are very limited.
I kept mine for 3 months and cancelled it, as there appeared to be very little left that I wanted to watch.

I’d look at changing your tires if you are having problems locally with road conditions? perhaps something more penetration resistant to stop all those punctures as its a pain in the a**e!

Agreed. Any suggestions- what tyres for riding on roads where farmers can’t be arsed clearing thorny hedge trimmings? :-)

Preferably still light(ish) and fast, and 23-25mm?

(The circular ones are still too big, the tubes I was using were £9 each(!), and I tried cutting a large patch in half but it still wouldn’t seal as there is no ‘flat rubbery edge’ to make a decent seal….)

There still is a point here though- second hand, decent (equivalent) quality, you do still get a lot more for your money with mx than you do with mtb bits.

Strangely, now my boy is past the target age, I don’t watch any of that shite anymore.
To be fair, Pocoyo, In the Night Garden and Thomas were my favourites.
I will however still watch Spongebob though.

I have had a Gelert for 5+ years, and it still seem to be going strong!
Absoluteley recommended- no problems, does what it has to do.

    Are you a beginner? Duh?

Seriously, you might be a big lad, but you might be awesome!!!!!

    I’m guessing, you ARE NOT!!!!

You need the biggest board you can find, widest, longest etc.,

    Bics are good for beginners.

Hope that helps, don’t mean to be patronising!

Was from Wilkos. Two cans. About £4 a can. Used two. No, no lacquer, it’s quite glossy anyway

But, if you take it to an industrial powder coaters, they will (should) dry it in a heated kiln type thing, to harden the paint and make it more resilient to chips.

I’d expect one to be more reliable than a CRT to be honest. Fewer complex gubbins. I’d expect much more than 5 years.

That’s what I would have thought. But, you hear of old CRTs lasting 20+ years…
eBay seems to be full of knackered LED TVs barely a few years old.

I had slightly over 5 years out of mine.

I ride bikes to be alone, to enable some quietness where I can just have some peace from the noise of the world. There is no conversation to have because that time on wheels is mine and mine alone.

There you go! Spread the love! :D

Seriously though, I get what you’re saying, and I completely agree.

OK. What about talking to fellow bikers about riding bikes?

    It’s nice to share experiences.

Wot Footflaps said. I’m not sure what I’d learn from talking about bikes tbh.

I don’t want another bike, I don’t want to upgrade anything. The riding I do is all from the doorstep, and I’m not interested in meeting other folk for biking. There isn’t any mechanical issues I can’t resolve myself.

A wise man once said, “to be tired of talking about bikes, is to be tired of life”.
