Just what we needed…another war somewhere with oil.

Interested to see how it all pans out, hopefully won’t be too bad for the people of Libya, mind you, can’t be much worse than how it is for them at the moment.

I’ve been meaning to do it with a rubber duck – will perhaps have to do it with sweets instead! 😛

Someone showed me a few days ago, price has rocketted, as has the amount of stuff donated. Fair play to his donating a fair chunk of money to charity.

If I had lots of money I’d bid!

Hope the weather is the same next weekend – my bike might be working by then!

We (nottingham) had a leaflet about recycling collections in january. We have no recycling boxes and I have never seen a recycling lorry, we started off making an effort and collecting bottles, tins etc but now it just goes in the bin…

recycle what we can at home (northampton) though.

Me too…although I put it down to the fact that my sinuses are “broken”!

Might make it out and about on the road bike for a bit…both the mtbs are in bits and I stupidly left my tools at uni whilst coming home for the weekend!

I find road riding good for training because it means you can put in a bit more of a constant effort for longer, and is much easier to do from outside your front door!

Don’t have to worry so much about the terrain so can work in intervals and spinning etc.

Wouldn’t bother if I didn’t enjoy it though, if its wet/windy and I still want to ride I tend to go on the mountain bike, road riding is rubbish in bad weather (imo!)

I’m sure they offer benefit with cooling and stuff on a long decent. My new build is getting some purely for the colour matching!

I’m not a Brian Cox fan…no particular reason, I just don’t really like him.

As a chemistry student I vaguely understand Entropy. My friend dropped his box of staples (which were all neatly organised in the box), and then he couldn’t get them back in – my response was “that’s entropy for you” we were chuckling away to ourselves for a while after that 😛

You can’t fault their logic! Well maybe you can…

    Love it! 😛

that seems to be their general marketing style, I don’t get it….

but I do like the original lights, reasonably cheap and do the job well!

I use the road bike instead of the car where possible. And drive to less places to ride mtb. I either need to be sharing lifts with a couple of people who will contribute to petrol, being going somewhere thats just far enough that having to ride there and back means I won’t be able to have fun whilst there in case I don’t make it back or it has to be somewhere ace!

That said, since I’ve been back at uni I’ve ridden mtb once and my road bike for at least 1 proper ride a week, often more!

Yeah I’ve got Rebas on my other bike, great forks!
With the SIDs being lighter I’m tempted, I’m just attracted to the foxes by the terra logic inertia thingy-majig.

Are we all chipping in to buy it then?
    No.

On one have probably beaten us too it.. [/quote]

I reckon the singletrack masses could beat on one 😉

Glad you’re soon to be back!

I’d say a bit of both, road riding will probably get your base fitness up, but getting off the road will let you have some more fun, and will probably be good for getting the power and what not back in your legs!

    I am most definitely beardless!
Running a ss for commuting and messing about on at the moment (decided commuting with 1 gear is better training!), its fun round the woods…but can be a bit slow…building up a new super duper geared bike at the moment (by building up its currently a frame, a seat clamp and a wheel skewer!).

Some of there stuff isn’t great, but a lot of it is. Hope someone buys them up – how much do you think it’d cost to buy raceface? 😛

I only use ebay to sell cheap things or things I don’t care how much I get for as there is no insertion fee for <£1 and its then not so bad taking a hit of 10-20p 😛

I really enjoyed the program last night. I really like Attenborough, he’s doing well for someone that’s 84…I wonder how much more he’ll do before he retires properly! 😮

I spent a fiver on a thermos equivalent brand in wilkinsons, keeps me tea/soup/hot chocolate warm all day!

Only problem is the top is quite narrow so difficult to get a spoon in to scrape out the lumpy bits of soup that get left 😛

I used to love the dentist (well as much as is possible…) but the nice guy retired, leaving a string of dentists I didn’t like.

Thanks to a nice dentist at uni, despite 2 fillings, I’m actually starting to not fear the experience quite so much (although am now delaying going because its expensive and I haven’t sorted out my PC1 form yet!)

I love our cocker spaniel, he’s great fun! He now has considerably less hair (much easier to manage and better for him as well!)

Instead of upping fees they should just cap places…make it so only the brightest people can get in to uni.

A degree should be something earned by academic excellence, not by the amount of money your parents have.

This would reduce the amount they need to give to unis, and make a degree a bit more worthwhile.

try directline…not on comparison sites and miles cheaper for both me and my dad (on separate policies).

Strangely enough, it would have cost me (19 yr old female with 1 years no claims) more to insure with my dad (50 year old male with many many no claims!) than on my own though!

Don’t when riding…and I use tissues rather than a hanky when not riding (slightly less germ harbouring I think…)

    How about when nothing matters?

Then that’s different, the OP was asking for peoples experiences and I was just sharing mine.

There were times I couldn’t bring myself to ride, and I still have the scars from what I did instead.

I get so angry at the “just go ride your bike” responses.
If you can’t even get out of the bed in the morning, let alone out of the house, how the hell are you supposed to “give some singletrack everything you’ve got”?

didn’t mean to offend anyone, I’m not trying to say its a miracle cure or anything remotely close. Just that when I was close to doing some stupid things, riding my bike was an escape – I could get away from everything and everyone and nothing mattered except me and the bike.

with respect, IMO riding your bike is fun anytime, regardless of mood, but it’s only a distraction, not any kind of a fix!

yes I know it won’t fix anything, and its always fun. But there’s nothing like giving some singletrack everything you’ve got to take you’re mind of everything that’s bad and relieving stress.

And did a much better job (and was much better for me!) than the other “solution” I had going at the time…

Northampton which has been called “N-town”

Lived here all my life and never heard it called that or is it a student thing?

Could well be, can’t say as I’ve ever called it that…but I’ve heard people say it

I wouldn’t say I’ve ever had depression (and certainly never been diagnosed), but I think I was on the cusp not long ago, and did things I’m not proud of (shan’t go in to that now though, not something that needs to be shared with everyone on here…), still feel like I’m heading back there sometimes 🙁

My advice as a result of this is take it one day at a time, and set yourself small targets and things to look forward to. And ride your bike. Fast.
