i've got a 16" summer season and agree with the others yours in defo a 16".

Looking at on-ones website, they seem to measure the vertical height of the seat tube (dimension E in link below), not the centre to top, which might explain it.

    http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/FROO456/on-one-456-frame

I was about to say, get the size up and put a slightly shorter stem on it to get the reach the same, but just noticed on on-ones website that both thw 16" and 18"s have 105mm headtubes, so that wouldn't raise the front end.

So, as someone above said, if you don't like all the spacers only option is a higher rise stem.

Are these really monthly? Didn't realise that. Can't make this months but wouldn't mind coming along next month; is it the first weekend of every month or does it depend?

soz don't know for sure. cheaper juicies (3's) don't have rotating hose banjo's whereas the more expensive versions do so might be worth checking that out. In terms of the basic design piston size / hydraulics etc I'd bet 50p there no difference.

i think so, someone was selling some on the classifieds yesterday which were OE on a speccy I think.

If it were me I'd just buy a full set of elixir's (and sell your juicies) as i think its the elixir lever that gives them the improvements over juicies (in terms of better modulation)…?

just had a peek at canfields website – looks like the cancan is beefed-up sauce i.e.5-6" travel, and can-diggle is a beefed up 'the one' (7-8" travel).

Also noticed that they have old (03) iscg mounts, not 05 – I'm not sure, but I thought hammerschmidt was 05 only…? worth checking anyway.

thanks guys that sounds positive – very early days so not really got any fixed plans where we'd be looking to stay yet – still trying to work out what would be best! Also depends where we could get work obviously. The areas we've been looking at mainly are on the south island, christchurch, nelson, queenstown, wanaka or rotorua / taupo on the north but open to suggestions really.

Also my original post may have come across negative, I'm sure there is great riding there just wanted to get a general feel for what its like and where the hotspots are.

quick google search… drops off's 538mm axle to crown, pikes 518mm

on-one reckon a degree slacker per inch fork travel, so this means the SS will go from 66.6 deg with pikes to at least 66 deg, or a bit slacker, with the drop offs…might be a bit too wandery on the climbs, maybe should consider teh standard one if you're going to keep your forks esp. if your forks don't have travel adjust.

yeah, i wouldn't put anything much longer than 140mm forks on there, its pretty slack with those, i think it might be a bit silly with 160mm's. maybe a ragley would be better if you want to run longer forks…? any thoughts ton?

agree, a 16 should be spot on. I'm 5'10", ride a 16 456 ss with 50mm stem for almost all of my riding, from long xc days to messing about on local steep techy stuff. Its a wicked bike, bought a year ago when they first came out to stop my blur 4x bearings getting murdered over the winter and ended up selling the blur frame cos I was having so much fun on the ss. Do use the u-turn on the pikes a bit, the head angle is too slack with the forks at 140mm for steep climbs but its worth it to have it choppered out for the dh's. If you're worried about not getting enough xc-stretch then perhaps the standard 456 would be a better bet. Sounds like you want the ss, so should go with the smaller one for a more chuckable bike. Long answer to a short question!

Oh, and can't remember how long it took to ship, prob less than a week. Thats a question best asked to on-one I reckon.
