Goldenwonder, are you saying that a standard M10 tap won’t do the job properly? Someone I work with has offered to lend me one but from what you say, it’s not a standard thread for a rear mech?

Tried the screwing in from the other side. I get so far and then it won’t go any further. Rarely use bike shops, so wasn’t sure whether they would have a tool for the job or not.

“mechanical sympathy” – that’s that option out then!

Sounds promising. Off to see him a week today, at a friend’s suggestion, but don’t really know what to expect.

I saw them live a couple of weeks ago and couldn’t stop yawning. I have no idea what all the hype is about, I found them boring and one pace and nothing whatsoever stood out about them, for me.

I have a £5 of £25 or more voucher. Yours if you want it. Mail me at D_Tye at hotmail dot com. But be quick as I’m off home in 5 minutes!

I have it. Quite a handy little thing on occasion. I think it classes a trail centre as something with a way marked or purpose built mountain bike trail, although the rules for inclusion seem a little vague, to be honest.

So everyone is basically saying what common sense is telling me, get the XC717’s. 🙂 I think I just needed a bit of convincing after damaging 717’s myself. But yeah, she’s only little, won’t be doing any jumps or anything too technical, so well built 717’s should be just the job. Cheers all.
