They’re still going. Saw them live last summer, on the bill of Hard Rock Calling, headlined by Pearl Jam, at Hyde Park.

The gravelly voiced singer released a half decent solo album, last year.

I had an I-beam post and SDG Bel Air. I always thought it felt flexier than my Thomson and normal Bel Air that it replaced. That was until the seatpost split at the clamp! Got an inch long split in the top. Not really sure why, it split, I was riding across the car park at the start of a ride!

On the contrary, Led Zeppelin had one of the greatest drummers of all time, The White Stripes did not.

Couldn’t agree more. Love Zeppelin but never understood the fuss about the White Stripes. I’m actually quite pleased about the news. Hopefully Jack White can now concentrate on his other (considerably better, in my opinion) bands.

I can ask. Never been myself but my missus, who is Dutch, was a student and lived there for seven years!

We’ve stayed with these people a couple of times: http://www.mountainbikeapartments.com/ You’re 2 minutes ride from Innerleithen trail head and a 5 minute drive to Glentress. Oh and a 30 second walk to the pub, in Innerleithen! 🙂

Just another link to local riders: http://http://ificantrideit.myfastforum.org/

There’s regular posters based in Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgshire and even a few a bit further afield than that. There’s normally regular rides at Thetford most weekends, as well as quite a few trips to other spots around the UK. We’re a friendly bunch and it doesn’t matter how quick or slow you are, as long as you’re happy to stop and exchange nob and fart jokes every now and then! 🙂

I’ll be storing the contents of our 3 bedroom flat in a couple of weeks. I spoke to the Big Yellow Self Storage, who I believe are a national chain. For a 150sq ft storage unit they quoted me £72 a week – but the first 8 weeks are half price. I’m looking to store for at least 3 months, so that worked out pretty expensive. I had a bit of a look round and found a local guy (unimaginatively trading as The Green Self Storage Company!), who has a warehouse with storage units inside, on his farm, and he gave me a quote of £30 a week, for the same size unit, for as long a period as I like, with access whenever I wanted it.
So I guess my advice would be to shop around, as you may find a local independant doing decent deals.

Edit – sadly for you, nowhere near the Cotwolds, I’m afraid!

Please, whatever breed you decide to go for, seriously consider a rescue. I have one, my brother has one, my mum has one. Just because someone else didn’t want them, doesn’t mean they don’t make fantastic companions.

Are black spokes weaker in the same way that red frames are faster?

The guy sitting behind me in my office has this strange ritual where he always cuts up fruit into small pieces before he eats it. It’s not the eating that’s noisy though, it’s the sucking/licking of his fingers afterwards! It’s truly vile!

Meehaja, I appreciate there’s different levels of accountancy. This is just a fairly basic qualification, which shouldn’t take too long to do. I would be doing this more as a starter, or foot in the door, and then look to progress from that to whatever level I felt comfortable at.

If we did end up moving to another country it would only be a short term thing, so by the time I would have finished the course, we would most likely be back in the UK anyway.

The link is just to the website of the ‘college’ not the course. The course is AAT level 2 and cost is around about £1350.

Local college isn’t really an option. It’s very likely that I will have to relocate at some point soon, to suit my girlfriend’s job, with the potential that this may even be in another country! Self motivation shouldn’t be an issue. I’m happy with the idea of learning at home, just would like to know if anyone has any specific experience with these people.

I bite my nails, which seems to drive my gf insane!

Also, she’s not a fan of my beard, but then hates it when I shave it off, as I leave little bits of beard hair all over the bathroom sink!

Try googling Bryn Teg House. Was there this weekend. Very nice and pretty much equal distance between the Afan and Glyncorrwg centres.

I ran 1×9 for quite a while without a full on chain device, with very few problems. I had a single ring, on an old XT triple chainset. I took off the granny ring and replaced the outer ring with a bashguard. As well as the bash, I used one of these. Granted, it's not rocky where I ride, but I never had any issues with losing the chain.

I used a normal long cage rear mech, but have heard people say that a short cage mech would be better, as you can run them with slightly more chain tension. Don't know about that for certain though.

I have something like an 06 or an 07 Hummer, not sure exactly what year, as it was bought second hand. Mine is an 18" and fits me perfectly at 5'10". When I got it, I did wonder whether I might be better off with a 17" but I really have no complaints at all over the size.

I bought one of these cheapy ones from ebay and have been pretty pleased with it. Looks surprisingly good and fits well. Dropped it a couple of times and have put a chip in the corner of the case, but the phone is still fine.

Not the same, but about 10 years ago, I had just over £3200 depostited in my account for no reason. Being a young, devious little bastard, I didn't say anything, left it alone for 6 months, and then started slowly spending it. Come the end of the tax year, the bank have an annual external audit. They noticed that £3200 had gone missing and ended up in my account. They come knocking (not literally) and to cut a long story short, I ended up paying it all back, in the style of an interest free loan (all be it at only £30 a month!).

If it's not your money, they will get it back.

If you're after a bunkhouse for 15-20 people, check this place out: http://www.penstarbunkhouseandcottage.co.uk/bunkhouse.htm I've stayed there a couple of times now and it's very good if you're after cheap and self catering for a large group.

It's not especially close to any trail centre but is centrally located, so you can get to a few within an hour's drive. It's on a farm, so nothing particularly in walking distance but Brecon town centre is only a few miles away and they have pubs and stuff there, if you want them.

There are no hire bikes at Brandon Coutry Park – you need to go to Bike Art at Thetford High Lodge. Not certain on prices or availability but from what I’ve been told and what I’ve seen, their selection and standard of hire bike is generally shite.

I’ve had a tick on my cock before too. Not very nice. I tend to pick them up quite regularly (although they ar usually on my legs!) and even brought three back from the Netherlands with me, a couple of months ago! It’s worth being cautious with them, getting them removed properly and keeping an eye on the bite area for a good while afterwards. From experience, the antibiotics that you get given for Lyme Disease aren’t a lot of fun either.

I’d definitely go for a TomTom. I’ve used them in the UK regularly and driven to the Netherlands with one. Easy to understand and nice clear display. Used a friends Garmin a while back and really didn’t like it. Found that the display and instructions were nowhere near as clear as the TomTom and some of the road choices were questionable, to say the least!

Having noisy, annoying neighbours is a genuinely horrible, stressful experience. I had some wonderful ones a while back. Loud music at all hours, loud and colourful arguments in and outside the house (which occasionally ended up with one of them kicking the front door in!), 3 barking dogs permanently kept in the back garden – except when they escaped and crapped in my garden and anywhere else they felt like – and regular visits from the police to their house and mine (asking questions about the neighbours’ activity). I was lucky because I knew that the house was owned by a local housing association, so I just complained repeatedly to them until they were finally moved on elsewhere.

Presuming that they don’t own their flat, see if you can find out who their landlords are and complain to them. Repeatedly. In my experience, the landlords get so fed up with your complaints that they eventually do something about it!

I had a Cambridge Audio amp a CD player. They both died after not a great deal of time. Admittedly the CD player was my fault as I drunkenly fell on it!

Just had to do a similar thing with my missus and ended up with this:

    Lady parts were:
pink and white SDG Allure saddle
    pink Jagwire cable outers
    pink Gusset Slim Jim pedals
    pink Blackspire bashguard
pink Salsa seat clamp (not fitted until after the picture was taken)
pink Superstar Components Headset (could afford King!)
pink lock on clamp on the grips (from http://www.mtb-direct.co.uk)

The budget wouldn’t stretch to the pink flowery Hope brakes or pink Chris King hubs. Have seen some pink wheel quick releases at Superstar Components, which might get added at some point.

    Brilliant album.

The Legacy edition has the original album, plus a new mix, by Brendan O’Brien – who was the producer on all their subsequent albums, but not Ten. The only realy difference I’ve noticed on the re-mixes are slightly less reverb on the vocals and guitar.

There’s another version with a DVD. This is the original album, the remixed album and then the DVD – which is not of the album but is actually their MTV Unplugged set from 1992.

I think there’s another version which is nearly £100 and has repackaged 7 inch singles and loads of stuff like that.

+3 for Optilabs. Only thing I would say is that you have to be careful when cleaning them, as they pick up little scratches quite easily.

Cheers for all the help guys. It makes sense now. Goldenwonder, thanks very much for the offer but I’m stuck out in the arse end of nowhere, in Norfolk. Looks like I’ll have to try and find a shop that’ll do it for me.

Sorry, just to clear this up, in idiot terms, if I’m going to go down the route of tapping it myself, I would need a M10 x 1 tap. An M10 x 1.25 tap would be no good?
