I have the issues with my mine Sram 1×11 from time to time but my LBS is doing some maintenance courses so I’ve signed up for that, maybe yours does the same ? or just take it into them for now

I would say, go for it personally.. try it for awhile and keep your options open but family life is first and foremost.

We are looking at taking the plunge with a possible move to Canada in the next 12 months either in BC or Alberta, with the wifes job we could relocate anywhere in the world but Canada comes up for our lifestyle with the wife who loves ice skating and me loving the mountain biking and Canada has it all.

Its a big gamble but we are not getting any younger and if we back out now I think we will end up regretting it

Good luck with whatever you decide bud

I use the open street mapping @meeeee… You can get about 50mb of fairly detailed mapping for a reasonable area with that.

Its not routable but I’ve had no problems ever following a route if you zoom out to 200m

I’ve got them in Large and they are a perfect fit, I’m 5’10 and 83kg they stay in place and never slipped once but after a few washes they have got looser but still stay in place.

I will buy another set as they are very comfy and you don’t notice them but really they are just knee warmers :| but I do wear them for the gnarly stuff but thankfully not been proper tested in a crash yet …. well thats me doomed now for this morns ride ! 8O

I use the 520 for all my rides and also use my sunnto gps watch as a back up and I’m still finding that the 520 misses the strava segments I ride and go for all the time …. the 520 is good but still needs sorting out

I’ve always used an osprey pack regardless of how long or short my mountain biking trips are as I like to carry the right kit more so if I’m out in the middle of nowhere.

But recently I’ve been having problems with my shoulders so bought a camelbak palos 4lr lumber pack

and its actually quite comfortable with minimal movement and carries enough water for 2+ hour rides and still carry spare tubes and co2 and other bits and bobs

And its great having the freedom of movement again but not sure about using it for when I’m up in the mountains as I always carry a bothy bag and spare clothing if I get in the shit

They are terrible as I’ve had to change 2 sets of bearings on my spesh enduro in 12 months.

Need to look at different options

Ive got a Rockguardz downtube protector on my spesh enduro – fit and forget, mine gets battered all the time and no damage

For the sake of about £30 and no hassle

Im lucky enough to be doing the enduro again for this years for Ard Rock so I’m hoping to do the Ard Moors event as I think this will be my last time ever with a possible move to Canada coming up…

If its anything like Ard Rock it’ll be big long climbs and cracking descents… Brilliant day out

I’ve been using the Sunnto ambit 2 for over 3 years now and its been reliable and never failed on me, you just plug it in to upload your ride and charge.

Never used it to follow any tracks or waypoints but its the best gps watch I’ve ever used.

Thanks plumber, I’m more into enduro style trails as flat trails bores the tits of me.. it would only come in handy to try and get the wifey into it more than anything

Thanks Sweaman for the heads up, I’ll look into those places you’ve mentioned.. if it does happen it’ll be about 12 months time, just waiting for the right slot to come up for a move.
