flats rely on pulling up from the centre of the bike, the whole flat approach is much more seesawy (if that’s a word)

Hot long sunny afternoon, spliff, hardpack with that tiny gravel on top that rolls real fast, green grass, a nice long undulating piece of singletrack…mmmmm…motion is a powerful potion..

I know it sounds wrong but the faster you go the easier it is..modulation is key but the faster you go the envelope you do the stoppie in is bigger….you gotta go fast to learn then it’s easier…if you try to learn at 10mph your gonna loose teeth…imho

this post would almost be funny if it was an attempt at humour, the fact that people actually think like this is frankly terrifying.. only on stw eh..

keep going mate, I had smoked for 20 0dd years and this new years eve (40 now) threw my baccy onto the fire and gave up. I figured if I gave up with the same commitment I smoked with it would be easy. the cravings only last 2 minutes so remember that. all the patches and other crap will only prolong the pain. I have never tried to give up before and thought it would be impossible. its easy if you have really decided to do it, if you don’t mean it you wont give up. Having just had our second girl I realised that I didn’t want to kick the bucket when they were 20…no brainer really. Best of luck to you mate

Mate had a border collie from birth.Followed him everywhere, nicest most sociable dog you would meet. when it was 5 he had kids. it snapped at one of the kids once, nipped them. he kept the dog and told it off. 8 months later whilst at work the dog ripped a sheet of his sons face off like bacon, no joke. end result, plastic surgery, scarred kid, dead dog….

Great thread, really brings out the best in stw. Im not a brickie but the OP seems to have got some great advice but seems to be in denial a bit, no offence. Seems like a huge amount to pay for a garage that is anything less than 1st class really.

Thanks for all the advice. Ive had the normal element turned off for a few hours. The bottom element labeled economy is still working as i can hear the tank heating up. If they are both on all the time then surely im better off only using the top one marked normal? Surely if i leave the bottom one on all the time its heating the whole tank rather than the top one which would only heat the top half??

Hmmm interesting, ive had both immersion switches on for 2 years. Pretty sure that the economy heating element is on all the time… if this was the case is this down to me or can i get the leccy co to check my meter? Thanks for all the help..

edit. btw in the meter cupboard i have one meter and 2 consumer units (if thats the right word) no sign of a timer..

Thanks for the tips, have employed most of those things on that list, sounds like the heaters and hot water may be wired up wrong..?

I bought a deus chainset cheaply and it came with the latest rf team bb with phil wood grease etc.. measured my bb and set it up acurately. i expected it to last about 3 months and ive got an xt bb here that i bought to replace the rf one when it inevitably packed up. that was over 3500 miles ago and its been put through the filthiest slop imaginable…still spins like new…go figure…to answer your question, i think rose bikes were doing xtr bb’s cheap as chips..

:-)ive also ridden bmx for nearly 20 years and strangely find that the small wheels make them suitable for the job, odd that i should find a 29er more the opposite than a 26er…i take it the guys that are finding comments like this funny have only minced about on a few bikes..

Youve bought the right bike, ive tried a few 29ers and found them all to feel dead and cumbersome, its all marketing boll0cks to sell new frames and forks..

Dont quite get why your asking? You use an 8 speed and like to use all 3 rings, good for you. Loads of people still using triples despite what the fashonistas on here will tell you..
