I know with lockdown that good content has probably been hard to come up with. But, why not do an article on how all old wheelsizes are great and bikes are universally cool etc, etc. Just look at the comments below. People pooing themselves because the overpriced bike they have stretched to buy might be obselete soon…poor show. They know exectly what they are doing. Whatever next…
@grum, surely thats the point? I didnt think it was inflamatory, just told the truth. Kinda solidified what i had thought. Weve gone from eating loads of fish to trying to avoid it and having it once a week now.
@scienceofficer I’m on XT 12spd so 51t? I think out back, pretty sure I can manage on that for long and tired climbs when I’m reduced to jelly babies and winching..
Correct, I dont get a new bike. I kept a 26″ hard tail from 2006 till 2018 as I just couldn’t be arsed with ever changing steerers, wheel sizes, plus, fat, semi fat, boost shit etc…I’m not alone either
But despite people moaning everyone went out and bought boost frame sets anyway. The industry must pinch themselves everytime they get away with it. Ultraboost must already be on the drawing board. If consumers refused to buy into standards they didn’t want in time they would dictate what the industry made. If no-one buys a stupid superboost Saracen I assume they won’t make any more. Is it me or has the use of press fit bottom brackets diminished since people actually stopped buying frame sets with them, cus they are poo…
In my experience they were terrible. Odd sized bearings and design. Non existent customer service. I quickly sold what I had. There’s a reason they were dirt cheap pre lockdown..
Done it quite a bit over the years. As above check the wind direction it makes a big difference, dont do it on a clear hot day. There is very little cover and its quite exposed to the sun for most of the route. Taps are pretty easy to find. If its wet the chalk can be very slippery. Not trying to put you off but if you think you are average in terms of fitness you might fing it hard in a day. Travel light, keep moving, eat on the go…
Weird, I’m not at all into buying the latest bike standards for the sake of it. My new build has a RF affect stem and bar in 35mm. It’s really stiff but also very comfy. Moreso than the 27.2 Easton bar on an old bike I have…not what I expected
The obvious solution would be to hammer frozen sausages along the canal bank. You could then use a pair of bombers to lever the vessel free, oh and pee in the captains shoes as punishment…
Really sorry to hear this, a subject not too far from home. Give yourself and everyone involved a pat on the back for saving a life. She is lucky, hope everyone involved gets the care and support they need.
Buy a torque wrench instead? Blimey never heard of anyone doing that before, about 10nm should do it. All the lower end calipers are very similar if 2 pot. None are more resistant to cranking up that tight though..
Thanks, yep that pretty much echoes what ive been told. only chance is to track one down sat in a spares box or a tuners…wish they used the old plastic spacer arrangement, its crazy! Ive tried TFT, J Tech, Sussed out, Slick n slide, Sprung…
Yup, i agree. Kinda used to see them as some kind of company that had this value/design add ethos (i used to work in procurement) but now see them as the same chinese made (no offence) brand added value price scalper as planet dead/off one…
@boxwithawindow – forum doesnt want to let me send you a message, if you could have a look and get back to me ide be really grateful, happy to pay in beer money! Tabletop2 – were they 32mm stanchion Revs?
Definately a Reba, they came in 2 types, mine is 130-150mm, has the marks on the stanchions. Tried ebay, no luck. Im not sure a Revelation one will fit as newer Revs are 35mm and the rebas are 32..boxwithawindow – sent you a message..
Wow lots of practical help/suggestions here, thanks. TF tuned said it wasnt a common shaft, i cant think why. Said something about Fishers? showing as a 5 month wait.
I’m north on of Winchester and we see a few, last year we had a mid summer afternoon “Airwolf” type incident where on rose up from behind the pine trees at the end of of the field. Honestly thought Ww4 was on…
Funniest thread ever, same as “why doesn’t my wife love me”. Awaits the world’s response and then critiques the answers and speaks to wife. Hope the bike (and wife) are all good.
Dont really get the whole royal family thing or it’s relevance to modern life…super lucky, not particularly bright, racist, old school, not relevant old guy gets really old, gets best healthcare in the world and inevitably dies shocker..
Honestly? Should i take my 8 year old child to get a peice of dirty metal fired through their ear by a child in a mainsterean £2 per hour sh!t hole….with all the trauma involved with a blunt injury….probably not. If your ethics are ok with it at least take them to an independant specialist and get it done quickliy and cleanly with a needle, whatever next…Mcdonalds heart transplants?
I cant believe people still buy branding hype. Hunt are middle of the road chinese components bolted together with a warranty thats sustainable due to the heathy profit branding provides due to the price hike. No suprises then. Or buy decent components well assembled and get value due to currency benefits. ymmv
This tread is not helping with so many nice bikes. Sandy playa looks ace but the colours available are, Cosmic white, Cyan blue, Fizzy Orange, Wasabi Green, Norlando Grey or Charcoal Grey. Bikes a Clockwork Evo. Im quite tempted by Cosmic White…
