mark b, its ok no lasting trauma caused I think ive managed to get over it… I think it’s you thats traumatised from the fact you couldnt hop a log without a course to show you how. Now go ride yor bike properly.

The plain ones do look a bit wrong tbh, but i think with those decals it looks spot on, nice bike.. (that front tyre will kill you though) :.)

mark b …. your the only person sad enough to actually think your a better rider than someone youve never met….shows how silly you are. you know what, you may well be a better rider than me..who knows..who cares..wave your kn0b elsewhere..

what a touchy thread, a few people seem quite offended, and immature, lol no suprise there then.. I dont need to prove anything to anyone as I have at no point implied I am gods gift at anything… it’s impossible to have any other point of view on this forum without people getting upset and offended about their kn0b size… If a skills course works for you then that’s fine, good luck to youif you need it for your type of riding… tbh my job entails way more risk and exertion and education than riding a bike which seem like a relitavely un complex skill set to me…unless you are Danny MacAsgill….oh and I do have a few bad habits when riding, i pick my nose and smoke the odd ciggy!

I got “the invite” from a long time friend last year, sounded to me like there is alot of secrecy about not much very exiting for your average brother, I imagine it’s more profitable higher up the chain. I politely declined… cubs was more than enough of that sort of thing.

it’s a good point, but we learn to do all these things ourselves don’t we? you can encourage a baby to walk but ultimately it will do it itself. Do you think Danny MacAskill had a skills course on doing front flips? I think they are useful for some people and less useful for others..maybe ive stereotyped what i think is your average skills course attendee… fat, 5k bike, office job, unfit and sh1t on a bike..

Thomson are lovely in terms of machining, the clamp is very good and they look nice…but they are pretty stiff in terms of comfort if thats an issue to you… no bmw or audi here either

lol..whatever next, skills courses for babies for walking tips, and they could do a pre walking, crawling skills course too!

Im not middle aged as far as im aware, what im trying to say is surely some people dont need a skills course as much as some other people. ive not come accross much in the UK that i would think ide need a skills course to ride! What happened to your belief in natural ability.

not trying to offend anyone by the way..i just dont get it..you dont see skateboarders or bmxers doing skills courses,.. but then alot of them arent tubby middle aged weekend warriors..

best bet for people needing a skills course is a hardtail, or a bmx..

dont pull the bike up with your arms to get to the balance point, pull you weight back and pedal it up into a wheelie..

If you enjoy technical riding and like that aspect of it then the soul will probably be more enjoyable on most of the stuff you ride, if you bought a 5, i would imagine you would need to be riding much harder terrain to get the same kick so to speak.. for non DH uk riding the soul wins every time. Plus it will probably be welded straight where the orange is a wonky old gate..

Kcnc ones are ok but in my experience if you dont change them when you change your chain they get noisey. Ive just taken off a nearly new set and replaced with bog standard shimano ones, theres a reason shimano dont use metal jockeys imho.

when i cant get any spares i shall not worry,i’ll buy some more.. running 2 pairs of shimano discs both over 5 years old, zero maintainence apart from pads. 1000s of miles on them..

After cooking my hope mini’s all the time I got some m4’s, and after cooking them all the time I sorted the problem with Shimano. I wouldnt throw any more money at hope’s offerings..

I have never felt remotely intimidated on here…yes there are a few annoying, sad, no life regulars who clearly spend too much posting and are clearly not riding enough/don’t have a real life and man up online….but a bit of sarcasm and p!ss taking is good/funny….honestly…what tyre should I buy? is 10 speed good? my framed broken, etc, etc only goes so far..

if he cuts his face off with the chainsaw he could try to sue you for damages if working for you, it has been known for people to try..

make sure he has professional indemnity/damage insurance and accident insurance for himself… for tree surgery about 5million plus..

no thanks, I cant imagine anything would ruin the flow of my ride more than flipping trailquesting… on another note, are there any non mtb trailquests, for walkers and the like? You might have an easier time persuading them to sling a leg over a bike than you would persuading most mtb’ers that trailquesting isnt dull and geeky…

So whats the big deal? Shock horror – chainring bent in post – not news is it. Despite your apparent dislike for crc i’ve never had anything other than excellent service from them for the last 15yrs or so..

Btw..my best time is 11hrs 28 mins on a hardtail…you dont need fs on the sdw… oh and for the uninitiated..dont focus on the mileage..there is some proper hills on the sdw..

i seriously cant believe the amount of cr@p spouted about doing it in a day, it’s not that hard to do in a day at all, ive just got in, literally now…well 40 mins ago.. I do it every year as a birthday thing (to prove i still can!) started this morning at beachy head 5.25am.. put some fast rolling tyres on, head down, pedal…repeat, love or hate the climbing it doesnt matter, just plug on….
