Thanks folks. If anyone knows the trails affected after practice today I’d be grateful for the heads up.

Thanks guys. At least a full recovery is possible. I’ve started to think my days of feeling fit and healthy are behind me! It’s frustrating, I’ve signed up for a few enduros that are in the not too distant future and I was psyched to train for them. It really makes you appreciate how important your basic health is!

Yeah, I am a bit better on recent medication but still a long way off being well. A while ago it took 3 or 4 rests to get up the stairs. I can get up in one go now but seriously out of puff after.

Thanks mate. At this stage full recovery seems a long way off.

I have one inside the pump which is attached to my frame. This seems ideal. If you have it in the steerer, do you not still have to carry a pump?

Thanks for that. I’ll give RideCzech a look.

Does anyone have any other recommendations?

Thanks for all the help. I contacted the Roofbox Company and they recommended this one. You can fit an additional mount for a third bike. Has anyone any experience of it?

I’m sure my current Aeffect cranks are non-boost. I’ve just looked on Santa Cruz website and it looks like current bikes come with SRAM DUB boost cranksets. Confused!

How do you find the 2.8 Magic Mary in winter conditions? What do you run on the back?

I decided just to get the Magic Mary and try it. I’ve fitted it on and clearance looks okay. I’ll try it out and see if there are any issues. Thanks for all your help chaps!

Great, thanks. I wonder if a DHRII would fit in 2.8?

Thanks Dave. Which Maxxis tyre do you run on the front and do you use a mudguard?

The BofA Brewery is a nice place with friendly staff but the beer isn’t the best despite having many taps. I’m a big real ale fan and really wish they’d sort this out! They are very accommodating of muddy mountain bikers though! The Westerton in BofA is a great pub.

I have a DPX2 from TF Tuned and I’m delighted with it. Totally transformed the ride of my Hightower.

Cheers, lots of experience in the group. We are all used to being active in Scottish winter conditions.   Level 3 MTB, Summer and Winter MLs, experienced winter climbers, ex-MR personnel etc so we know about bad weather. November is the only time we can all get away! We are all fine with hike-a-bike!

We haven’t booked any accommodation yet. Depends on where we’re riding! Recommendations for accommodation also gratefully received!

Cheers mate! It’s good to hear from some Level 2 folks. I’m a Summer ML as well so used to working with Naismith’s etc. I’m sure I was told a formula during the Level 2 training but I can’t see it in my notes. I think it was somewhere along the lines of – 10km/hr flat, 5km/hr uphill, 20km/hr downhill. I’ll work with that and see how it goes. Thanks for all your help folks.

What size of tyres could you fit on your rims? I’ve been considering Hope 35W anf Alpkit rumpus wheelsets. I wonder why Genesis spec i35 rims instead of i40?

That’s brilliant mate – thanks! Very keen to hear how the tyre combo works out for you!

5’11” on an XL Sommet! That does make me wonder if an XL Escarpe will be big enough!

Thanks for the replies. Does anyone have a link to the correct components required for the evo upgrade?

I’m selling a 19″ Dialled Prince Albert Classic (853) if that suits?

I’m in a similar position. 6’3″ with a 20″ 456SS and an XL Meta 5. Planning to replace 456SS with a Stanton Sherpa. Kinda hankering after an XL Jeffsy though…

Yeah, I have a set of Hope hubs that I could build up for 27.5+ but I just want to make sure it is actually worthwhile first. If there is no mud clearance there seems little point! I’d be keen to give it a try if it can work with particular tyre/rim combinations though.

That’s surprising considering Stanton sell complete bikes with that tyre/rim combo! I wonder if it would be much better with WTB Asym i35s (or even i29s as used on Solaris 27.5+ bike)?
