i think its plain stupid to try and ‘share’ the roads with motorists, close/aggressive overtakes way too close etc and general bell ends on the road means if theres a pavement there i will ride it. **** what the public or officer bellend thinks i couldnt give a toss. id rather be breaking the law than dead…

    anyone else agree?

also just to state i ride mtb so only ride road to get to trails etc, not for fun so this mentality may not sit well with strava roadie types but hey carnt please everyone can we?

hope all the way, easy to get spares for, can run just about any axle easily, can service them with a rock, and your supporting the uk which probably isnt a big deal to most on here with all the euro/german mailorder threads that keep popping up here.

also got a mate with dt hubs (240’s?)on enve wheels and they do seem to spend alot of time in the bike shop, special tools and apprently they needed some heat on them to strip the rear something or other last time they went in, **** that.

uk hubs for uk riding no?

i drive a white van and have been guilty of shouting shit at cyclists, but mainly roadies and everyone knows roadies dont have souls.

one of my best lines is shouting hydration whist passenger is hanging out of window waving a water bottle at them as i drive past, i even get the odd smile etc

epic bikes, ive got a small frame in the shed that i carnt bring myself to sell rode everything on it from all day xc to antur stinog.

my advice would be to keep an eye out for a xfusion hilo dropper. i keep thinking of building mine back up with some 650b wheels and see if it feels more alive lol

z1ppy – id stay away from those AMP ‘waterproof’ connectors their the same as used on many cars/ landrovers etc and the ends tend to fill up with sh1te or the little pins bend and snap off.

done, very sad probably too little too late but done non the less

also, to mtbguiding youll need to write a book of cheecky footpaths before much longer if this sort of thing carries on.

update, jekyl think i know the one you mean at wetley moor, think if you do it the oppossite way it takes you around a few nice footpaths all rideable to bagnall? if you do a bit round wetley moor ive found nice short/technical/fast natural downhill trail, starts near the dog kennels towards the bottom section of wetly moor, and ends out bringing you half way up ashbank just below bargin booze, it is footpath though but never see anyone there at all. think i logged it on ourxmaps so may be worth having a look on their site.

very interested in anything in or around stoke. will have to take a look at this.

any gpx files or similar routes to beamends4x4@live.co.uk if anyone would be so kind, would be up for joining in on nightrides but with work and other commitments im usually managing to get out between 10-11 and not back till the early hours

Presta adapter from your local bike shop
    or wilko

i do like the idea of presta, being able to blow them up a bit without pump and one tube will fit both sizes but have seen loads fail on the trail leaving you with a long push, and who wants that? anyone who says user error may be right but who wants to take the chance?

first thing first, after you have recovered… learn how to manual and hop over things, makes a night a day difference on a real trail. no point going as fast as possible only to fall off on the first technical bit you come across. it also helps to ride over things rather than though them if that makes any sense

id say park the big bike up first and get back out on the hardtail, you need skill to ride one rather than using suspension to make up for mistakes

    o and heeling vibes

o btw i was having atleast x1 chain snap on very ride before

    beamends

id have to dissagree with above,

snapped way too many shimano and kmc 10 speed chains both solid and fancy hollow ones…

bloke in bike shope recommended sram, they wouldnt ever order a shimano one as said they were that bad. im a shimano fan boy but the cheapest sram chain think £13ish of crc has already outlasted all the others at x2 or 3 times the price

sounds like a great idea, any idea on how big the site ‘is’ how many spaces there are? can you prebook a space or just turn up on the morning and hope for the best?

seriously tempted to do this as i have MOUNTAINs of gear that needs going and ebay is too much hassle only problem is im coming from stoke so not just exactly down the road.

also as a semi related bump i do think this sort of thing is a great idea, any interest for something similar in the midlands i do have access to a massive fiend next door to me and could possibly orangise something similar if anyone would turn up?!?

Agreed. One of the few things that makes me really angry. No reason for it at all.

I was riding home the other week when I saw someone fly-tipping on one of the country lanes. I cut off the lane and go through a park before rejoining the road on the estate where I live, as I rejoined the road I saw the car that had been fly-tipping pulling into his driveway. I put the bike in the shed at home, walked the 5 minutes back to where his crap was and carried it back to his drive. 2 rubbish bags and the inner cardboard tube from a roll of carpet (or similar). It’s a shame the bags split when I put them on his drive, really made a mess of his front garden.

id love to see his face when he saw all that in garden! however this would be one of the only officences id bother to call the razzers about, im sure a few grand fine would have worked as a better insentive,

do these people not know about the tip?!?

we did it mid december. weather was terrible non stop rain and rocks everywhere was sketchy to say the least couldnt see where i was going through goggles before half way down. my brother had 6 pinch flats on continentals, i was on ghetto tubeless with maxxis high rollers and no issues.

other than that id say you need a ‘proper’ bike if doing the black / double black. had a few goes on the prophet and was ok but wish i had more travel… the red and blue are good runs though

guy in the shop rated maxxis over anything as its rocky as ****!

sorry to hear that, id keep the bikes inside the house and maybe misses in the shed?
