Not what I’d call genius. No kick back brake for a start. Not that he’ll be bothered he didn’t even unplug it!

wrightyson has it sussed old wooden frames where often used as load bearing (kind of) but you can’t do the same with uPVC

Lucky enough to see it at the National and had seats which the cast ran past so we had to mind our feet

I don’t think that idea is valid anymore, buliding regs now insist on cavity insulation on any new builds or extensions. That and the blown stuff has been done on tens of thousands of houses around the UK without issue.

I’m with slackalice on this if the outer skin is porous the insulation MAY act as a wick cause damp on the inside walls. Seen it a few times
Obviously depends on type of materials used in building and for filling cavity you can’t retrofit what they would install in a new build

Just tried to click through to the in the OP post and got this message
    Fair enough I think

    No Daily Mail
I’m sorry but we don’t allow direct links to the Daily Mail on our website as we find it an abhorrent publication.

For an explanation of why this is we can’t think of a better illustration than Stephen Fry’s personal account of his dealings with this publication here. We would encourage you to read this before continuing on to the Daily Mail website.

We are moving to Alston next month, property is plentiful and cheap. It certainly ticks the lifestyle box. Our kids are in Sussex and they have kicked off big time, but if the boot was on the other foot they wouldn’t think twice. Be careful about making changes to your life to suit others

Kendal is supposed to be one of the best place to live in the UK

    Good luck whatever you decide

Personally I’d use a smaller impact driver, bigger isn’t necessarily better
As mentioned above, lift boards to check what’s underneath and there’s no guarantee of a fix

You’re making an error comparing people of your fathers age with yourself – your life expectancy is related to when you were born, the expectancy for someone born in the 1930s isn’t the same for someone born in the 1960s or the 1990s

    No, yours is less :-)

To be fair you should have all this in place already, except the 3 relating to learners
I agree the notice is short, maybe you can pull everything together so that next time it wont be an issue

It’s a great job that gives you a feeling of giving something back rather than just taking
Got a bit fed up of being brick and spat at though and glad I’ve done my time
Don’t dwell on the gruesome bits you’ll adopt coping strategy, usually laughter
Go for it if you get chance, not easy to get though

I think the OPs point is that the solicitor has made the error they should stand it. His mum paid what they asked for now they want more
Yes the duty must be paid, who pays is the question
