Didn’t they use a Challenger tank on Brainiac? I think they opened it from about 700 meters away. There wasn’t much of the safe left after the Sabot round hit it.

It recommends using some sort of crystal as protection against the RF. That tells me everything I need to know. Unless you live on top of the transmitter mast you’ve not got too much to worry about….

Gutted, I was 10 or 11 when I first heard their music (I turned 40 last year). I saw them once about ten years go and thought they were brilliant, my ears were ringing for a couple days after. RIP

I get this when I run. I have an anti histamine an hour before exercise and it helps stop the reaction.

I can recommend The Spicery for all things curry and spicy food. The How to be a Curry Legend kit is brilliant.

Gifts that were hidden in the car are being put under the tree as we speak. I wrapped them all and some don’t have labels on which is obviously my fault. Mrs B getting stressed and snappy. Tension rising…. Merry Christmas STW!

I’m enjoying this thread…. Lots of nice watches! I don’t think I’ve seen Steinhart mentioned? I brought a Steinhart Ocean One Vintage a couple of years ago. I really liked the 50s styling. I’d post a pic but I’m struggling….

My everyday watch is a fourteen year old Omega Seamaster quartz. I purchased it a month before Mrs Beaker found out she was pregnant with our first. Glad I got it as I’d never have brought one once I knew we were expecting!

Oh, and a Suunto Vector for when I’m out on the bike.

I heard this from a partner at Waitrose….. Well to do mother and daughter were doing their shop using the scanner. Said mother gets pinged for a random check. Her first words to the Waitrose partner were “My daughter has been scanning as well.” The shopping starts getting run through the checkout and lo and behold 80 quids worth of beer wine and spirits hasn’t been scanned…..

I’ve been randomly checked before, it’s nothing to worry about.

I went last year having never been before. Lots of bikes and parts being exhibited, other exhibitors such as charities and holiday companies. There were retailers selling kit but not at competitive prices. I won’t be going this year.

    @ The Teaboy

By an Athersmith? I’ve raced against them and they’re quick!

Not sure what an Athersmith is? I think the chap was USAF. It was quite disheartening seeing him finish just as I started my second lap. (My best 5k was 25:48)

There was a monthly 5K race held at Camp Bastion every month when I was there. I think the fastest time I saw was just over 15 mins.

It seems to me that these days mountain bikes are so different to what I need. I know things evolve and change but the simple fact is I’ve not changed what cycling I do, and the locations where I ride haven’t changed either. I have no need for an Enduro Bike living in the south. I don’t need 150mm of travel, a stiffer frame, or a wider rear hub. At no point while riding have I though, “if only my rear hub was wider and my frame stiffer.” Yet the industry pushes these things onto me, almost saying that without these things I’m missing out. I thought SPDs, full sus and discs were excellent new developments and enhanced my cycling. Mucking around with wheel size (29ers being the exception), tapered head tubes and hub sizing havent added to my riding.

We parked at Hounslow tube station for a day in the smoke. It was a couple of mins from the M4.Don’t think it was too expensive to park either.

I like the Tamiya rattle can primers. They are nasty so go outside or use a mask.

Just be aware that thefts do happen there. Don’t leave your bike on a rack unattended.

Quick update….. yes was in a car and not on my bike, apologies for the confusion. I rang to start the claims process this morning and fortunately he is insured, which was very unexpected. Thanks for all your input STW!

Thanks for your input…. wasn’t in a black spot and retirement in a remote corner of Scotland sounds perfect to me. Thanks for posting the link, anything will help at the moment. I’m phoning the insurance company in a bit, I’ll see what they say. I’m not holding out much hope. I was giving a statement to the police until nearly midnight, ready for when matey boy wakes up this morning.

The fat useless cat that owns us was going through the same up until not long ago. Huge volumes of urine, constant squits which honked and weight loss. We cut biscuits out completely and fed her only meat. She’s now back to normal, fat, lazy and happy.

I spent a happy couple of hours up to my elbows rodding using borrowed rods. I gave up and called the drain company in. The blockage was easily out of reach of the 10 meters worth of rod that I had. As the adult male at the Beaker residence I deal with everyone else’s sh*t including the cat.

I had similar earlier this year. I went on Check a trade.com and looked at local companies with good ratings. The bloke was at the house within the hour (on a Saturday) and he got the blockage cleared. All in it was £120.

I’ve been and it’s ok. Depends on how ‘rad’ you are. It’s not BPW so don’t expect long descents or an uplift. It’s probably good for an afternoon at best. I’m 15 mins away and to be honest I’m not rushing to go back, and I thought £7 was a bit steep. YMMV etc.
