Have you tried John Atkins They serviced my Monolink shock and were very good. I miss my ML7, it was such a good bike.

Just seen this…. I’m reasonably local to Shearwater (15 mins in the car). It’s not too bad, lots of short singletrack which linked up makes a good ride. Unless you have local knowledge its a case of follow your nose or other riders. There is Windhill bike park nearby as well, you have to be a member to ride it though. Only you can decide if its worth the trip.

I’d say pick the Imber Range Trail up at Warminster and follow it to Bratton. After that I’m not much help. There are trails around Shearwater lake and the Longleat estate but to get to Bath from Warminster isn’t going to be easy.

The coldest and wettest I’ve been on a bike was at Penmachno. That was in June….

+1 for the 5.11 Rush. I have the 72 and it’s still going strong. Seem to recall it having a lifetime warranty as well.

I remember when that Cannondale first featured in the magazines. I was amazed at how it looked, not sure that I’m so impressed now.

There was a thread on this ages ago and this Stuff was recommended. I got some and have been really impressed with it. I’ve reproofed old and new clothing with excellent results. It’s quite satisfying watching the water bead and roll off…

My Bose Soundlink Mini died (flashing red light of death) and was replaced with a magnificent B and O Beolink A1 which I think sounds much better than the Bose.

Lots of anodised purple bits…. endless adjusting of canti brakes. Getting cold wet and muddy and loving it, MBUK with multi page adverts listing all sorts of exotic kit (the M and P advert/catalogue springs to mind), Bike ‘95 and 96. Lusting after a Merlin XLM, being amazed by V brakes (oh the power!), suspension bikes becoming the norm and then disc brakes.

I’ve had a Veloce Groupset on my Enigma since 2012. It’s nice, the brakes are excellent but I can’t say I’ve noticed much difference to other brands. Shimano DI2 is something else though…

Going by your logic then @joshvegas the Nimrod should be considered. It had Sidewinders fitted at one point…. ‘largest fighter in the RAF’

I’ve got a pair of Tower Pros on my bike. They’re a great fork and I agree, the bolt through is a pain in the arse. Who is good for getting them serviced?

My wheels are only a couple of months old, they’ll be for summer use only so not sure about corrosion. I had no issues with mounting Conti GP4000s tyres, I was worried about tyres as the reviews seemed a bit 50/50 on fitting. I was able to fit them by hand would be able to do so at the side of the road.

I’ve got a pair of the Prime RR38 wheels (rim brake admittedly). For the money I’m delighted. They’re light, roll nicely and great quality for the price.

First proper MTB was a ‘94 GT Talera, £350 from the LBS with a loan from my Mum of £5 per week. I wouldn’t buy it if it came up for sale. My second bike, that’s a different story. Second bike was a ‘96 Kona Kilauea, a fantastic bike, light and it handled almost telepathically. Sadly, they’re rare but when I found a ‘95 Kilauea frame for £50 fairly local I grabbed it. I’ve spent a happy winter and spring buying the bits for it. Just the front mech to fit and it’ll be done. I had some great times on my original Kilauea, if I have 10% of that fun on this Kilauea I’ll be happy.

I don’t think VE Day and patriotism should be too closely linked. I very much doubt that in 25 years we’ll be celebrating the 100th anniversary with as much fervour, but while the generation that fought are still around why the hell not give them a bit of recognition?
My next door neighbour is a 95 year Lancaster Air Gunner. Having flown over Europe, at this point 75 years ago was preparing to go to the Far East to finish the war against the Japanese. We all know how that ended up courtesy of our American friends.
Tomorrow we shall have a small garden party, just this household mind, put up a bit of bunting and celebrate the end of the war in Europe. Not for anything more than to pay a tribute to a rapidly dwindling generation of people that gave something or everything.

I am not a vet but from what you described there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with him? Good appetite, keen to exercise, largely unaffected by the loss of the other dog and not lacking in fuss! Possibly you seeing an issue that isn’t there? He is a fine looking chap by the way….

Ditto, love this program. It’s wonderful to see artisans at the top of their game at work. I cried when the old boy got his radio back as well. In fact I knew I would when he brought it in. Fifty plus years of a relationship condensed into one object, I can only imagine the job satisfaction from repairing it.

@mikertroid I was never on good terms with the Stackers when I was in, I had trouble getting socks from them! My brother was a Loadie and for a while we were stationed at Lyneham together, he eventually told me a bottle of Jack Daniels usually helped get something off the shelf. I’ve always wanted a chronograph, this won’t be the last…..

So about a month ago on this thread, @tthew generously offered his Pulsar Aircrew Chronograph watch in exchange for a donation to charity. Described as “not brilliant condition” I PM’ed him and we worked something out. A donation was made to Salisbury Hospice and a few days later, just as lockdown started the watch arrived. It has a patina of use but certainly isn’t in bad condition.
I’d like to thank him publicly, something I should have done much sooner. However, today in the post a nice new NATO strap has arrived and is a great opportunity to take a picture and contribute to the thread. I’m delighted with how it looks and will be first in the queue at the jewellers to get a new battery fitted, and then get wearing this lovely watch!

Could you not get it repaired? I think Enigma repair cracked Ti and I’m. Sure there is another company that do the same, but I forgot their name.

Miss Beaker ended up getting a Giant ATX via C2W scheme. Perfect for her, if a little heavy.
